I mean, I don't mind any guest accessing my wifi BUT at least ask right?

OP posts:
Teastheword · 14/03/2022 14:42

Do you greet them at the door with it ?
Hello Susan, the WiFi code is xxxxxx
It almost feels like some people don't much rate their own company much and have to give out WIFI passwords, so their guests can entertain themselves when they get bored of them
Quite.

HermioneKipper · 14/03/2022 14:45

@AnnUumellmahaye Oh FFS 🙄 If I see them quickly check their phone then yes of course.

Or...absolutely everything in between that and the guest having to sneak off to find it.
HELLITHURT · 14/03/2022 15:04

Well, the OP said her guest found it "sneakily" so I assume there must have been some snooping going on ;)

I would presume the OP is inclined to be dramatic also, interesting that you are one of only 13% that think OP is NBU

MrsHutch3029 · 14/03/2022 15:13

The WiFi code and a drink are the first things I offer to my guests. If they took it on themselves I’d be p’d though! If I haven’t offered it there’s a reason!

Casheeeew · 14/03/2022 15:16

Don't be ridiculous. Do they need your permission for a glass of tap water? Confused

dippyduck1 · 14/03/2022 15:34

My son generated a QR code which is on display so any guests can log into our WiFi when they are in our house. It doesn't cost me anything

stripeyflowers · 14/03/2022 15:44

Really I wouldn't care a bit. In fact, I would expect them to.
I'm constantly amazed at some of the petty, stinginess that seems to go on - unless there is some backstory.

Quite.

0r mark the milk, measure the soap and note down the meter reading?Grin

gogohm · 14/03/2022 15:58

By house guest that implies overnight and yes I would use the WiFi.

Why are you presuming the OP is "dramatic"?
GingerGloucester · 14/03/2022 16:05

Such a non issue… I’d rather they just got on with getting the code themselves tbh rather than ask me and have to faff about with the little card thingy on the back of the box

girlmom21 · 14/03/2022 16:06

Why are you presuming the OP is "dramatic"?

Because she started a thread upset that a house guest used her wifi, probably.

Alcoh · 14/03/2022 16:08

On what basis could it possibly bother you? You don’t have to pay extra? Did they go into a secret space to get it? Explain why it upsets you so much so I can understand.

Teastheword · 14/03/2022 16:09

Sigh....it's not about "permission". Of course you don't just open someone's kitchen cupboard and help yourself to a glass of water unless you know someone extremely well, but in that case you would probably have asked for/been told the wifi code ages ago.

Also, water actually is neccesary, using your phone isn't.

She is not upset about anyone using her wifi. She is feels that for a "House guest(to) sneakily adding your wifi to their phone is rude"

Completely different.

This exactly and using the term sneakily, how would you think someone would sneakily do it? Also, talking about a grown adult, not just an adult, all unnecessary dramatic wording.

@Teastheword

JerkintheMerkin · 14/03/2022 16:17

I stick mine on the fridge so whoever comes round can use it. I can't be fussed to hunt around for the little card it's printed on otherwise.

girlmom21 · 14/03/2022 16:19

@Teastheword she'd have been upset if they'd have asked too because apparently having your phone connected to WiFi means you can't have a conversation Hmm

HELLITHURT · 14/03/2022 16:19

@Teastheword you are in the vast minority here (awaits cry of no one has any manners these days, not like the good old olden days!)

Of course they can't, I mean it's just not possible!

No one can multi task, not even a grown adult.

girlmom21 · 14/03/2022 16:22

@HELLITHURT and obviously you must use your phone the entire time it's connected for wifi Grin

@Teastheword yeah read her second post

cakewench · 14/03/2022 16:24
