I dont know what I want from this post . I chose the flooring from sample and now its laid in 70 percent of the floor. It looks fine at night with lights on but looks greenish tone in the morning. I am so upset with myself not making the right choice . it is LVT. Fitter is coming on Monday to finish the job. Still got £1700 flooring left in garage which can be returned.
I am thinking of just cut losses and return the rest of it then I thought I ll keep it for couple of years and then change it. I cant make a choice and on top of it have not discussed with hubby yet . please help me how can i make a decision as I am all over the place with my emotions.

I had lvt laid in all but the bedrooms. I wasn't keen at first. It seemed too orange. After a few days I got used to it and love it, just like I did in the shop. Hopefully you'll feel the same.

@WeAreTheHeroes

I'd be careful with a pink based neutral on the walls, sometimes a complementary colour can heighten the unwanted colour rather than neutralise it.
Magnolia can be pink based or yellow depending on make. If it's pink based , I agree ,it will highlight any hint of green. Saying that it doesn't look green to me it looks lovely.

I'd wait until it's finished , live with it for a bit, I absolutely loathe anything new, my eye fixates on it . My brain needs time to adjust.

BOOTS52 · 12/03/2022 17:58

I think it looks lovely and give it time and you will get used to it. When you paint the walls it will look different. Also what window covering do you have. Day and night blinds are nice and give you privacy. I am saving for grey wooden blinds as have to get them made as very long windows so cannot buy ready made. I just got expensive vinyl covering all over my place and they fitted a different one to what I actually ordered which was more of a grey but luckily I love the one as darker than yours as soft on the feet and hides the dog hairs. It took me a while to love it but now do. If you have a lot of light coming in try the day night blinds as they look fabulous. I would fit the rest and once you paint the walls think it will look more to your liking. I obsess over things and after a while you won't notice it and it is fab.

I am more keen on teal paint on made website lick paint range, mumsnet app does not let me access the photo library.

Yes, other photos confirm the issue is the colour clash with current wall colour. Honestly OP it will look amazing when the walls are repainted in a paler colour without the pinky undertones.
Definitely a white or a pale to mid sagey/willow green. Teal might also work if its a tealy/green rather than a tealy/blue.

It's really nice OP, you will get used to it.

freesoul12 · 12/03/2022 18:50

Atleast paint issue can be resolved. Give me sigh of relief. just wanted to show how it looks like when light is on at night time.

I do see what you mean about the green tinge. I think it’s lovely and if you repaint the walls, you’ll be ever so happy.

FlyingPandas · 12/03/2022 19:17

I think the flooring looks gorgeous OP and completely agree with others-you have a wall colour problem not a flooring problem Smile

Ditch the magnolia and try something else. I totally sympathise as we had a similar kind of wall colour in our lounge and it just drained the lifeblood out of everything else in the room! We’ve now gone for a totally different wall colour and it looks amazing. Flooring, furniture, curtains etc all given a completely new lease of life.

BoredZelda · 12/03/2022 21:15

Never had a painter who moaned about anything other than the price, although the difference between the modern emulsion and the estate is marked - the estate is much more dry and powdery, I don’t personally like the finish of that and it marks more easily.

Nope. We have to go back and re-paint way more of the F&B stuff in snagging. At eight times the price and having to do it more often, it really isn’t worth the value. Colours can be replicated easily.

Pru19 · 12/03/2022 21:19

I agree it’s not very nice at all. It looks dirty? I couldn’t live with something I hated so much

Here it is... (see pic)

Looks lovely.
I have similar in my kitchen - Crown Crafted paint. It looks darker on the wall than in the sample picture I’ve posted.

Hi OP - your floor is the same colour as my worktops and, like you, I was a bit sad when I saw them initially because they looked very grey/cold rather than the warmer colour I'd imagined they would be.

Then I had them installed and with the right paint etc and actually they're very nice.

Try not to worry, PPs have given sound advice about the paint and I'm sure it'll be fine.

Nope I work with really good decorators though, they’ve not had to repaint anything.

Also, the colours can’t be replicated easily that’s the point.

justasking111 · 12/03/2022 22:23

Laura Ashley still do paint 70 colours we went for duck egg but we could have gone lighter or darker. We actually got it mixed at crown stockist because of the dogs kids I wanted something I could wipe

You just need to
Play with wall colours. Magnolia throws colours off
I remember when I’d use testers on a magnolia wall they all looked completely different

freesoul12 · 13/03/2022 07:24

I have managed to link the photographs of sample right next to light wood , they look completely different.
I can try the paint . My husband suggested we should ring the company too.

First photo of the sample that I received from the company and second one we got laid on floor. they do look completely different. I could not locate the original sample in garage , i ll try to find again. Luckily i have clicked some photos.
As this is LVT , do you think it can be stained during manufacturing?

OP posts:
Libertybear80 · 13/03/2022 07:39

Vinyl is vinyl. If you want a stunning floor it has to be real wood surely?

WeAreTheHeroes · 13/03/2022 07:43

It's impossible to judge from the photos you've posted whether the sample was correct, but I really think the right paint colour on the walls will make a huge difference.

I don't think staining would be possible during manufacture. Quality control should spot issues with the colour.

I understand but samples shouldn't be different. I could have engineered wood for the same price but I was worried about the upkeep. I should have gone with real wood

You need to find the original sample. If the difference between the sample and the floor is as stark as your most recent picture suggests then I agree with your DH that you need to go back to the supplier. Who is the manufacturer?

Light floors are very tricky to get right. DH really had to talk me into getting dark oak for our floor (we have Camaro loc) but I have to admit he was right. Light floors are very unforgiving.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/03/2022 08:38

Crikey that’s completely different! Can you go to the shop today?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 13/03/2022 08:48

The sample is a completely different colour.

We have engineered Oak in our kitchen diner, but have just had high quality laminate put down in our living room as it was 1/3 the price of wood. It looks great and I'm really pleased with it, but it's quite dark. I discounted the lighter colours as I don't think they would work in our room. I agree with other about painting the walls, but I would go back and complain.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/03/2022 09:14

Is the photo on the right the difference between sample and what you have had laid? They're completely different! I would be on the phone asap Monday morning.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/03/2022 09:15

I don't think any amount of new paint will alter the difference, they're completely different!
