Hate my new flooring which costs me £3.5k

I dont know what I want from this post . I chose the flooring from sample and now its laid in 70 percent of the floor. It looks fine at night with lights on but looks greenish tone in the morning. I am so upset with myself not making the right choice . it is LVT. Fitter is coming on Monday to finish the job. Still got £1700 flooring left in garage which can be returned.
I am thinking of just cut losses and return the rest of it then I thought I ll keep it for couple of years and then change it. I cant make a choice and on top of it have not discussed with hubby yet . please help me how can i make a decision as I am all over the place with my emotions.

Karndean laid on our floor but we did decorate beforehand so not sure you're being fair.

I can't see any green, but if you can then spend 10 mins googling green floors, create a Pinterest board that convinces you it's a real style statement and then forget about it, or get a spaniel and/or a toddler to make it covered in mud/paint/playdoh instead.

freesoul12 · 12/03/2022 07:56

I am not criticising LVT , I am repenting my choice of flooring. Could have gone with different color if that makes sense

It looks nice to me, but I haven't seen it with the green tinge.

justasking111 · 12/03/2022 07:57

It's a lovely neutral colour and maintenance is a dream doesn't look cheap. Go choose some paint

Cheeeesecake · 12/03/2022 07:57

(I am enough of a loser that I downloaded the mumsnet app especially to see the floor)

It’s hard to imagine how it looks green, OP. I think it looks nice. I wonder if it’s because it’s half done that you’re getting that effect - I.e. you’re getting contrast with whatever you’ve laid it on top of, and you won’t get that contrast once it’s completely finished?

NandorTheRelentlessCleaner · 12/03/2022 07:58

I think it looks a nice pale wood

What's LVT stand for? Laminate Vinyl T....?

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 12/03/2022 07:59

It looks fine to me. I can't see any green whatsoever.

justasking111 · 12/03/2022 07:59

LVT. Luxury vinyl

Baaaa · 12/03/2022 07:59

It might look different once you paint the walls. If you can't live with it and are happy to waste the money then stop them laying the rest down. Choose a different one and then that one will just be very expensive.

This is a point
Cocopopsss · 12/03/2022 08:02

I think it looks good, can’t see a green tinge.

JaninaDuszejko · 12/03/2022 08:03

Thanks Cheeeesecake, that's the only photo I can see.

I think that it would be incredibly wasteful and bad for the environment to throw away so much plastic (for the person who was asking LVT=luxury vinyl tiles. Expensive vinyl basically). Once the floor is finished and the furniture is in and you get used to it you will forget about the green tinge. Changing the wall colour may help anyway which would be a cheaper and less harmful change.

GandTfortea · 12/03/2022 08:06

I’ve got Lino identical to that ,cost a few hundred .
Why so much

luxxlisbon · 12/03/2022 08:06

It doesn’t look green at all. If maybe looks fuller and greyer than you expected because it’s such an ashy colour?
I would put all the furniture back in and see how you feel then. Flooring looks so obvious when it has just been laid and it’s an empty room, in reality lots of it will be covered anyway.

stickygotstuck · 12/03/2022 08:08

It looks very nice to me OP.

I think OP is right - it's likely you can't see the final effect because it's not finished and the walls aren't painted in their final colour (the colour of the walls will make a huge difference to the general look).

I can't see any green at all, but I think a green tinge could look very nice anyway. Throw in a couple of green accessories and Bob's your uncle.

I am a in a similar situation with our bathroom. Not comparable as only one room and just sheet vynil so not too expensive to change. Absolutely, truly hated it on day 1 (tried to match the walls, didn't work!). Considered changing it as not a lot of money. Today, 5 days later I am used to it and rather like it, so won't bother replacing. Or worrying about it! Wink

You'll probably feel differently in a few days.

@GandTfortea

Because it's nothing like Lino. It's better than laminate but not as good as actual hardwood floors.

It's really think you will just get used to it once it's down everywhere.

MimiSunshine · 12/03/2022 08:09

It’ll be because it’s half finished and the magnolia coloured walls. In your situation I’d have it finished and while the fitter is in go and get some tester pots of shades of white - timeless or jasmine white and crown sail white are places to start) plus a big roll of lining paper.
Paint big squares of the samples and stick them on walls at floor level. See what works best and brings out the right tones in the floor. Then getting painting.

Much cheaper and better than wasting the flooring.

stickygotstuck · 12/03/2022 08:09

I think PP* is right, I mean.

MimiSunshine · 12/03/2022 08:10

Dulux timeless or Jasmine white

Harrysutton · 12/03/2022 08:12

OP I hated my LTV when it was first laid. Love it now and people comment on it when they come in. I remember thinking mine was a funny shade in the morning sun and can honestly say it’s not something I’ve noticed/ thought about for the two years it has been in.

TheSunWillComeOut2moro · 12/03/2022 08:12

It looks lovely, I'm not seeing the green tinge in the pic? I'm surprised at the cost though, we are laying vinyl tiles instead of laminate in our conservatory, it's a fraction of the price of our wooden floor that we have all through our downstairs.

freesoul12 · 12/03/2022 08:13

Thank you .I am going to buy few paint testers and try them . I really hope it will look better.

We recently had LVT laid and I thought we had made a terrible mistake and didn't want to tell DH, as I had chosen it.

Now we have decorated and got used to it I love it, it was just buyers remorse from spending so much money when I really wanted proper wooden floor boards and ours were all shot to bits and unsalavagable when we started renovating them.

FWIW I think yours looks good and very neutral (unlike mine, which despite loving now I think will date quite quickly).
