Tuesday as a middle name?

coolyeraeroplane · 10/03/2022 19:29

DH wants to give our daughter the middle name 'Tuesday' (won't go into the reasons why). I actually don't hate it but don't love it either but I know it would make him very happy and his parents. I just think will people think we're mental using Tuesday as a middle name? Like teachers etc? I feel it's very alternative.

Her name would be Jessica Tuesday Jenkins.

There was a Tuesday in the Point Horror book 'Freeze Tag' and I have always liked it since then.

Jessica Jones is an awesome name.

Mooster62 · 10/03/2022 22:41

Prefer Amelia.. I used to love the rolling stones ' Ruby Tuesday '. Great name.

DD has a friend with the middle name Tuesday. As unusual names go I think it is quirky but has a pretty sound to it.

Gottamakesense · 10/03/2022 22:48

Gooodbyyyye Ruby Tuesday who's gonna pin a name on youuu

MrsMop1964 · 10/03/2022 23:07

What's wrong with Wednesday?
nothing I suppose unless your surname is Addams

Onlinetherapist · 10/03/2022 23:18

My daughter is called Tuesday x

5foot5 · 10/03/2022 23:40

@LightSpeeds

I like it but I think it may attract rude comments about being conceived on a Tuesday...
About 30 years ago when we were first TTC, we were on holiday in Brittany. After a very pleasant "together" session one Tuesday afternoon we agreed that if that had worked and resulted in a daughter she would be called Frances Tuesday.

It wasn't. Took another 3 years and IVF so our DD has a totally different name. But it has left me with a soft spot for Tuesday as a name

PrincessNutella · 10/03/2022 23:40

Honestly, it is kind of silly in my opinion.

Gardengate45 · 11/03/2022 00:02

Tuesday isn’t exactly the best day of the week, could you name her Friday?

Hydrate · 11/03/2022 00:10

If she resents the name, she can always change it to something else once she is legally old enough.

ThePants999 · 11/03/2022 00:34

I've been watching too much Netflix - my only thought was "What happened to Monday" 😁

Ohyesiam · 11/03/2022 00:35

No one knows my middle name, except the tax office, and they’re not telling.
I don’t like unorthodox names usually, but Jessica Tuesday Jerkins is a complete winner of a name.

ChristmasCurry · 11/03/2022 00:41

Stupid name !

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/03/2022 00:58

Not everyone works Mon-Fri or hates their job. I like Tuesdays.
Thirkettle · 11/03/2022 09:03

If he's so desperate to convey a quirky personality he can do it by changing his own name and wearing silly clothes. Maybe a t-shirt that says 'I'm not like you normies' or something.

The place to tell people how 'unique and different' you are is not your child's name.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 11/03/2022 09:24

@TimeForTeaAndG, Wednesday’s child is ‘full of woe’ - at least according to the rhyme.
Tuesday’s child is at least ‘full of grace’.

I wouldn’t choose it, OP, but then there are loads of names that are now popular that I wouldn’t choose. Especially those that conjure up to anyone of my generation, wizened, whiskery old great-aunts, and bristly tweedy old men smelling of pipe tobacco with traces of their breakfast down their fronts.

Ellaraine · 11/03/2022 09:27

My cousin is called Ceadaoin, (K Dean) which is Wednesday in Irish. We are Irish, live in Ireland was she was born on a Wednesday .

I like it.

Abraxan · 11/03/2022 09:29

As someone who's been teaching many years I've heard an awful lot worse, some first names too.

Don't think it'd be an issue at all tbh.

LittleGwyneth · 11/03/2022 10:07

I think it's perfectly nice. Kids don't really get teased for having unusual names now, because it's so common to have an uncommon name. And honestly if your child is being bullied, the bully will find something to target them for, and a middle name is quite low down on the list of things to pick on.

nancynoname · 22/03/2022 00:06

i remember wanting to use Tuesday as a first name, and Friday

I know someone who did name their baby Friday. Bloody stupid. The next baby had an equally ridiculous name.

It made it very easy for her ex-husband to track them down when they escaped due to DV, as Friday and the other child's ridiculous name immediately made them stand out when he contacted schools in their new area looking for them.

HeatherShiver · 22/03/2022 00:12

My DCs all have "unyooshall" middle names in the same sort of ballpark as Tuesday, they haven't been teased about them and really love them as young adults.
I love it.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 22/03/2022 00:20

@MrsTerryPratchett

The alliterating first and last are far more of an issue. Unfortunately adding the Tuesday (which I love generally) makes it even more 'comic book'.
What's wrong with that?
bridgetreilly · 22/03/2022 00:24

Wednesday Addams.
Thursday Next.

Can’t see why not. All kids have silly names these days. I can’t see this being the cause of any problems.

MurmuratingStarling · 22/03/2022 00:24

I WANT to scream 'naff' 'hipster' 'stop tryna be cool' la la la!

But I quite like Tuesday for a girls name weirdly! Didn't think I would!

Maybe even the FIRST name!

Selena55 · 22/03/2022 00:25

No. Tuesday is like the worst day of the week as well. I hate Tuesdays more than I hate Mondays.
