Tuesday as a middle name?

coolyeraeroplane · 10/03/2022 19:29

DH wants to give our daughter the middle name 'Tuesday' (won't go into the reasons why). I actually don't hate it but don't love it either but I know it would make him very happy and his parents. I just think will people think we're mental using Tuesday as a middle name? Like teachers etc? I feel it's very alternative.

Her name would be Jessica Tuesday Jenkins.

The alliterating first and last are far more of an issue. Unfortunately adding the Tuesday (which I love generally) makes it even more 'comic book'.

coolyeraeroplane · 10/03/2022 21:01

What about Amelia Tuesday Jenkins?

I love it.

Ruby Tuesday ? Fairly well known song and I always thought it was a lovely name, especially if taken with the rhyme about what day of the week you were born ( unfortunately I'm a Wednesdays child)

BonnieBlue88 · 10/03/2022 21:05

Why Tuesday? It's just a boring day of the week.
I think it's a weird choice of a name.

AngelinaFibres · 10/03/2022 21:08

@Whitefire

I worked with someone called Tuesday. Listening to her making appointments was always worthy of a smile. "No I'm called Tuesday, I'm coming to see you on Thursday.... No, I'll be there Thursday" and on it would go.
Unlikely
AnnaSW1 · 10/03/2022 21:08

I'm not opposed to day names but would never use Tuesday as it's the worst day of the week

Singlebutmarried · 10/03/2022 21:10

As long as the first name isn’t Tuesday (unless you’re massive rod stewart fans) then I can’t get excited about it.

Singlebutmarried · 10/03/2022 21:10

Ruby. Not bloody Tuesday.

user1493494961 · 10/03/2022 21:11

Jessica's a lovely name, it won't matter what her middle name is.

TakeMe2Insanity · 10/03/2022 21:12

There’s a lady who is part of the Grenfell quilt group who is called Tuesday as first name! So it’s a name.

Flexitarian · 10/03/2022 21:14

How strange- I met a woman called Tuesday today! Never met anyone with that name before. I liked it

Alcoh · 10/03/2022 21:15

Why does you other half like it. Does he say. Does he have an affinity with that day ?

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 10/03/2022 21:16

I prefer classic names, but I actually think that Tuesday is charming.

Andacherryonthetop · 10/03/2022 21:16

A girl I went to school with had the middle name tuesday. She loved it but got made fun of for it

CowsAreNotGreen · 10/03/2022 21:17

@marmitegirl01

I love it and no she doesn’t have to be born on a Tuesday for it to work. I have a Holly and she wasn’t born at Christmas 🤷‍♀️
Yes but she's not called Christmas is she!
Toocooltoboogie · 10/03/2022 21:20

My dd has an unusual middle name. Grandparents gave us a hard time over it, fretting they would be teased. She loves it and noone has ever teased her. More that it's quirky and a source of interest. Go for it. Tuesday is a lovely name imo.

MatildaJayne · 10/03/2022 21:21

Tuesday is a perfectly nice name and I’ve heard definitely of it before. Go for it! Jessica/Amelia, ok, but actually Tuesday is nicer.

PurBal · 10/03/2022 21:21

I know a guy whose middle name is Tuesday. I don’t dislike it.

CowsAreNotGreen · 10/03/2022 21:22

That sounds nice. I really like it.

Anyway you say she is not born on a Tuesday. I asked because this is the first thing people are going to ask when she tells them, especially kids. She will want to tell them why her middle name is Tuesday. This is fine but if there is a sensitive reason for it and she asks you why you'll have to explain it and she'll either have to explain it when asked or someone dodge the question.

None of this is to say you can't do it just something to be aware of as you said you didn't want to go into reasons.

Kassalah · 10/03/2022 21:22

It's perfectly lovely, name her what you want.

Derrymum123 · 10/03/2022 21:23

I wish I had thought of it for my girls. Absolutely love it. I would use it as a first name. Smile

Yes I don't think she would get teased but it will be a source of interest so as long as the reason isn't one she'll feel uncomfortable discussing or trying to avoid discussing then go for it.
Whitefire · 10/03/2022 21:23

Well it did happen, not everytime, but some on the other end of the line struggled to get it.

AllTheWeetabix · 10/03/2022 21:24

It’s lovely. I love Ferne Mcanns little girls name, Sunday.
