Tuesday as a middle name?

coolyeraeroplane · 10/03/2022 19:29

DH wants to give our daughter the middle name 'Tuesday' (won't go into the reasons why). I actually don't hate it but don't love it either but I know it would make him very happy and his parents. I just think will people think we're mental using Tuesday as a middle name? Like teachers etc? I feel it's very alternative.

Her name would be Jessica Tuesday Jenkins.

I've never heard it before but think it sounds lovely, especially if there is a reason behind it. The name Sunday is now becoming more popular too.

Dixiechickonhols · 10/03/2022 20:29

I really like it and I’m pretty conventional with names.

VerbenaGirl · 10/03/2022 20:31

I think it!

rachelvbwho · 10/03/2022 20:38

I like it! And if it means a lot to your partner even better!

TracyMosby · 10/03/2022 20:39

Children very rarely tease eachother because of names anymore - there are so many different ones they just accept them.

I agree with this. Random spelling is different, but Ive never heard of a child teased because of their name. Even when the name was Blue. Children just accept that as the name.

BlueyandBingo · 10/03/2022 20:44

I knew a Tewsday (I think that was how she spelt it) and I always liked it

Ohdofuckofdear · 10/03/2022 20:45

I think it sounds really lovely.

ButtockUp · 10/03/2022 20:45

Yep, I remember Tuesday Weld.

Batshittery · 10/03/2022 20:47

I think it's a lovely name. Nicer than Jessica to be honest.

Harvestofthesun · 10/03/2022 20:48

It’s pretty, nicer than Jessica to be honest.

KevinTurvysGravy · 10/03/2022 20:49

I love it!

ElliotGoss · 10/03/2022 20:50

@InFiveMins

Just no. Other kids will find out and tease her for it. It isn't worth it just to please your DH and his parents.
One of my best friends is called Tuesday. She's 40 and I've never known anyone to comment on it. What teasing can be made out of Tuesday?
MagnoliaXYZ · 10/03/2022 20:51

It's awful!

I think it was Wednesday (when day) Joey in Friends said was a nothing day.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/03/2022 20:51

I don't think teachers would find it particularly odd (I was one) and I don't think other children would be bothered. There are much, much weirder names out there.

KittensTeaAndCake · 10/03/2022 20:51

@Whitefire

I worked with someone called Tuesday. Listening to her making appointments was always worthy of a smile. "No I'm called Tuesday, I'm coming to see you on Thursday.... No, I'll be there Thursday" and on it would go.
I don't see how this could happen? If you're making an appointment time why would they get muddled with her name??

I love days of the week names, Thursday Next anyone?

Amandasummers · 10/03/2022 20:52

I know a few Tuesdays and I love it!

OppsUpsSide · 10/03/2022 20:52

I like it, I like meaningful middle names rather than ‘Mae’ sounds good stick it in etc.
I only know the middle names of the children in my class because we talked about it over lunch.

Wedonttalkaboutrats · 10/03/2022 20:52

I want to hate it because I generally do hate trendy/quirky/wanky names. But I actually do like it. You do have to have a reason though……and one that dd can share without cringing.

Allywill · 10/03/2022 20:55

@marmitegirl01

I love it and no she doesn’t have to be born on a Tuesday for it to work. I have a Holly and she wasn’t born at Christmas 🤷‍♀️
I also have a Holly who wasn’t born at Christmas!
Notimeforaname · 10/03/2022 20:56

No. So many names out there. Dont pick a day of the week.

twominutesmore · 10/03/2022 20:58

Tiw's Day. God of War with one hand I think. Dying to know why you chose it.

Nitflux · 10/03/2022 20:59

I love it, but only if her first name is Monday.

astoundedgoat · 10/03/2022 20:59

I like it. She’d better grow up to be a superhero with a name like Jessica Jenkins! :)

Allywill · 10/03/2022 20:59

The only time it was an issue at Christmas was when we used to drive by a sign that said “holly for sale” her older sister used to chant “holly for sale, holly for sale” and Holly would get very upset!!

BenchBench · 10/03/2022 20:59

Had a friend with the middle name Tuesday, it really suited her!
