Wedding breakfast is at 4:30pm.

Evening food will be wedding cake and some cheese.

AIBU to think I am going to have to bring along a sandwich and some late night snacks?

@WhiteXmas21

Good grief no. Wedding breakfast starts at 4.30, probably takes at least 90 minutes, plus calories from alcohol , then cake and cheese? Sounds like a significant amount of food
Plus calories from alcohol 🙄

Why do these threads bring out the posters with food aversion who live on 1 lettuce leaf a day.

AlternativePerspective · 06/03/2022 20:09

You’re going to have a 3 course meal at 4:30, so you’ll likely be eating until 6. Then you’ll have cheese and wine and cake. Of course it’s not going to be “a block of cheese” don’t be so ridiculous.

Icemast · 06/03/2022 20:09

I bet the cheese will be crackers etc as well, sounds ideal a few hours after a 3 course meal can't imagine people would need something heavy?

AlternativePerspective · 06/03/2022 20:11

Am I the only one who fancies cheese and biscuits now?

EthelTheAardvark · 06/03/2022 20:14

Wedding breakfast 4:30. By 8pm you will be hungry

How?? Three course meal lasting probably at least until 6.30, probably with extras like rolls etc. How does anyone manage to be hungry again within 90 minutes?

LapinR0se · 06/03/2022 20:14

This is hilarious

Fernsinthegarden · 06/03/2022 20:16

@AlternativePerspective

Am I the only one who fancies cheese and biscuits now?
And baked chorizo in red wine 🤤 Seriously though, I’d take a few bits if you’re going to be drinking past the meal and into the evening.
ScruffGin · 06/03/2022 20:17

I think some people here have never been to a wedding with no canapes, and a really small meal. I always take snacks now just in case, and nearly always eat them!

Am planning my own wedding, and we're having substantial canapes, then a large afternoon tea as the wedding breakfast (none of this two triangles of sandwich each) then a hog roast/pizza oven throughout the evening. No one will be hungry!

MyDcAreMarvel · 06/03/2022 20:18

@kittensinthekitchen Hilarious that @MyDcAreMarvel is talking about about food issues in someone wanting to eat after 5pm, when on the pizza-reception thread, she's said anyone over the age of 12 needs at least a large (13.5 inch) Dominos pizza to themselves
That was as the only food that was going to be served at that wedding. It wasn’t pizza in addition to a three course wedding breakfast. Maybe improve your compression skills if you plan to search posting history.

Nat6999 · 06/03/2022 20:20

Call at the chippy on the way home, they are open until 11.00pm at least or have a cooked brunch mid morning, a coffee & snack just before leaving & fill up on the wedding breakfast.

KatherineJaneway · 06/03/2022 20:21

If you worry you'll be hungry, take snacks in your bag or find out if there is a local place to grab some food locally.

Bromse · 06/03/2022 20:21

You'll be eating your main meal for some time and if you like it, you'll eat as much a you can and enjoy and be full up for a while.

The cheese will not be served alone, there will be either/both biscuits and french bread/rolls and butter with maybe some salad garnish and olives. You'll be able to eat quite a bit of that.

myyellowcar · 06/03/2022 20:22

I’ve read some mad posts on this site but this one is up there OP.

ImWearingReallyJudgyPants · 06/03/2022 20:25

@Grilledaubergines

Are these people who take food in their bag to a wedding also the sort who have dinner on the table at the same time every night or all hell will break loose?
No, they're probably just fat.
Iwantamarshmallowman · 06/03/2022 20:25

We're due to attend a similar wedding with 2 DC. Breakfast is served at 9am wedding breakfast is 4.30pm.
I'm taking snacks, no-one wants hangry wedding guests.

PurpleDaisies · 06/03/2022 20:26

No, they're probably just fat.

I’m not fat. Lazy assumption to make.

Marmelace · 06/03/2022 20:26

Can't they just share a chicken between the guests?

Iseofskye123 · 06/03/2022 20:27

@moonbedazzled

I have never heard of people giving cheese for the evening party. Is the bride low carbing or something?
🤣🤣🤣
CowsAreNotGreen · 06/03/2022 20:27

@Marmelace

Can't they just share a chicken between the guests?
Or a massive salad
Marmelace · 06/03/2022 20:28

@CowsAreNotGreen problem solved 😄

didshedidntshe · 06/03/2022 20:31

@2022IamHavingYa

Starving is a bit dramatic. Order a takeaway if the kind and free offering from the bride and groom won’t satisfy you
Kind and free offering? Weddings aren't for the guests are they lol
tkwal · 06/03/2022 20:32

Last wedding I was at
Cocktails or beer after the ceremony 2.00
Afternoon tea, sandwiches, savouries 3.30
Speeches 5.00
4 course meal 6.00-7.30
Cake and wine/champagne 8.00
Supper 10.00 , fish and chip cones, mini hot dogs, or bruschetta .
Wasn't really hungry again til lunchtime next day

SueblueNZ · 06/03/2022 20:37
  • As much as OP is being unreasonable, she must be feeling really crap right now with the weight of MN piling on her. How about laying off. Everything has now been said, over and over.

Ooops, I posted this on the wrong thread (which I now can't find).

Fayekrista · 06/03/2022 20:37

Personally, a 3 course meal at 4.30 & cheese/cake in the eve would be more than enough.
If children are attending then yes I may bring snacks for them but absolutely no way would I be eating snacks at their wedding! I'd consider it incredibly rude!
By all means grab a takeaway on the way home but assuming you're not diabetic or so underweight you'd faint then I'd say get over it, it's not going to kill you.

rainbowunicorn · 06/03/2022 20:38

@Notcontent

Can anyone explain why it’s called a breakfast?
do you not have google?
