@TabithaHazel

I do actually shop a fair amount in Holland and Barrett, but won't be now.
So do I. ButI’ll be getting my supplements from Boots or Amazon now.
DazedWifelet · 04/03/2022 10:42

I hate the smell LUSH shops. Makes my eyes water and I get a sneezing fit.

Hedgecog · 04/03/2022 10:43

Very odd, H&B he has stood down and not sure what's going on with Lush as they're an awful company anyway. But how does encouraging people to boycott them help anyway, yay job losses for people on minimum wage!

Fiefofum · 04/03/2022 10:43

I’m already boycotting Lush due to their position on women’s rights and the trans debates.

Not using H&B much due to wfh/covid but will boycott going forward.

FrodoAteMyRing · 04/03/2022 10:44

RUSSIANS ARE NOT PUTIN! I know this is hard to grasp for some who also believe the UK can do know wrong and is oh so different in their own invading countries (to this day) Hmm

NightmareSlashDelightful · 04/03/2022 10:47

I don't shop in Lush myself, but no, I won't be boycotting H&B. Just because they're Russian doesn't mean they have anything to do with financing Putin's invasions. I don't like this simplistic Russian = evil narrative, it's all getting a bit villagers wielding pitchforks.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 04/03/2022 10:48

Never use Lush and will not be getting anything else from H&B. There are plenty of options.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 04/03/2022 10:48

correction

just because they're partially Russian owned

Since the investment company that part-owns them is a multinational conglomerate

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/03/2022 10:48

I don’t have much need to go to those stores anyway!

Tegger · 04/03/2022 10:50

I won't be boycotting Holland and Barrett (never used lush) . Fridman and Even even with sanctions will still be ridiculously rich even if none of us ever shop there again. Putting ordinary people out of jobs won't stop the war and the demonisation of all Russians that we seem to be creeping towards rather than just putin and the government won't help either.

grossnessewwww · 04/03/2022 10:52

This is ridiculous. The Russians that own these businesses didn't invade Ukraine. Steeling their assets is theft.

If I was a billionaire and had come across Boris once or twice in my life and then he decided to invade France, I'd be mightily unimpressed if people started ceasing my assets.

This is on the USA for their prolonged aggression towards Russia. Ukraine are the fall guys. Terrible.

conflictednow · 04/03/2022 10:56

This feels on a par with people boycotting Chinese restaurants in spring 2020 Hmm. Many Russians are against this invasion. Many uk people have jobs in these shops. Have you all checked every investment in your pension funds, there will multinationals in there with Russian owners. Getting your mp to push for more banking sanctions is far more effective (the impact of the Swift sanctions is already being felt). Of course it's hitting ordinary Russians too, but they may be able to change things from within

Itsbackagain · 04/03/2022 10:57

Don't shop at Lush anyway "To make our stance clear, we do not believe that Trans rights are a threat to women’s rights.".

H&B never used anyway.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/03/2022 10:57

I buy very little from H&B anyway, and have never once set foot in any Lush shop, because of the overpowering stink coming from our local one just when you walk past it.

LindaEllen · 04/03/2022 10:58

I don't shop in either - but if I found out that a particular store I shopped in was Russian owned, I wouldn't boycot it. The only thing you're doing there is putting their UK stores at risk, along with the jobs of everyone working there.

Tabitha005 · 04/03/2022 10:59

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation

I boycott them anyway. Lush stinks to high heaven and has pushy shop assistants and H&B flog overpriced crap.

They're both rubbish stores.

Same. There are usually much nicer, independent health/food stores in most sizeable towns to shop at than H&B.

I get a migraine just walking past Lush.

GeneLovesJezebel · 04/03/2022 10:59

I don’t go in either.

RishiRich · 04/03/2022 11:03

I boycott Lush anyway. H&B is full over overpriced weird things that appeal to the woo and the gullible.

RampantIvy · 04/03/2022 11:08

Yes. This naive 'anything Russian = bad' narrative that's going around is really disturbing. It's as if they've suddenly become totally acceptable targets for xenophobia

I agree. Why not put more people out of work by boycotting companies that are in the UK and staffed by people who live in the UK? Hmm

It was hard for my mum and her family during the war as they were German speakers who came to the UK to escape a fascist regime (my grandfather was Jewish). I'm willing to bet that most Russians who live here are not Putin fans anyway.

I hate this tarring everyone with the same brush attitude.

stripeyflowers · 04/03/2022 11:08

@DazedWifelet

I hate the smell LUSH shops. Makes my eyes water and I get a sneezing fit.
Grin when I used to go shopping with my husband he would stand about 20ft away from the shop!
LizDoingTheCanCan · 04/03/2022 11:15

Lush are very much pro women's rights (yes, all women), they've consistently supported the local women's centre for as long as I can remember, and the sex workers project too. Also, each Christmas they give us boxes of goodies to distribute to the women in our refugee community. I guess those women don't count enough for some.

Heytheredemons · 04/03/2022 11:15

I boycotted lush a long time ago, but not for the reason it's owned by the russians

Thewindwhispers · 04/03/2022 11:16

Was already boycotting Lush because of their appalling encouragement of teenage girls to do the misogynistic and physically harmful practice of ‘breastbinding’.

Laufeythejust · 04/03/2022 11:18

I boycotted lush years ago too. Holland and Barrett I only shop in when they have offers on on my favourite protein powder- I find them very expensive.

betwixtlives · 04/03/2022 11:20

how are these threads allowed? pure stupidity to equate anything Russian with evil. Absolute idiotic ignorance
