Used to be a stand up comic and actor, and was the voice of Paddington bear when Ukraine dubbed the film!

What good things have made your jaw drop recently?

@StoneofDestiny

Well... we had a dead pig fucker as PM so.

I find it jaw dropping that we now have a PM who is far sleazier than the dead pig fucker

Yes - utterly says all about the electorate in certain parts of the UK.

Very few Labour areas of UK left after 2019 gen election. In almost all parts of England the majority of seats were Tory. Scotland have their own demons in the SNP who they seem blinded to the faults of.

It astonishes me that anyone aprt from the super-rich would vote Tory. They have never cared about anyone but the super-rich- wealthy by inheritance, landed-gentry, big-business owners, bankers. Never.

@Sally090807

I’m sure if it was men fawning over a female president or prime minister, commenting on how hot she looks in her tight T-shirt, how nice her skin must smell etc there would be outrage on these pages. Certainly double standards here.
This is such a lazy comparison. An unequal power dynamic between men and women, and rampant misogyny which is just part of our daily life, mean it's not comparable.
Polyputthekettleon · 05/03/2022 08:41

In this day and age I think it would be hard to find a politician who is not corrupt to at least some degree. I don't think anybody takes to politics to just serve the country anymore. They will serve themselves first, and in most cases they'll serve themselves enough to last them a few generations. It's human nature. It's a given. I think the president of Ukraine and the Ukrainian citizens are amazingly brave. The Ukrainian president is a great Leader. A feeling of dread overcomes me whenever I watch him addressing his nation, it feels like he's a dead man walking-it just breaks my heart. What's the point in giving them ammo if there'll be no-one left to use it. Sad times

SueSaid · 05/03/2022 09:05

'He seems to be an incredibly brave and intelligent man'

So you think it is intelligent to say every death from this day forward is NATO's fault for refusing to implement a no fly zone?

I'd have thought an intelligent man may understand avoiding WW3 is rather important?

DownNative · 05/03/2022 09:12

@JaniieJones

Hot. Fit. Attractive.

Seriously?

But is he very bright? that is surely far more important. His disappointment at NATO, despite the massive support he is getting, for refusing to implement a no fly zone over Ukraine would suggest not.

'From today everyone who dies will die because of you' He told NATO. No Zelenskyy, it is because of Putin.

The West is not living up to its obligations under the Budapest Memorandum which led Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons for Western assured security from Russian aggression.

Considering NATO is not in practice always a defensive alliance, he's correct to assert NATO doing nothing militarily IS contributing to death and destruction.

Ukraine completely fits the criteria of past NATO humanitarian intervention mission.

Zelensky is correct in his withering assessment of NATO.

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 05/03/2022 09:13

He is a beautiful beautiful person. Intelligent inspiring and brave as fuck. He shows he is it in with his people unlike any government we have ever had
Also he could play my piano with his penis any day

LittleEsme · 05/03/2022 09:31

While I agree with most of what's being said about UK's political leaders, I can't help but feel that some of your comments are inappropriate and poorly timed. Some of you are fantasising about how hot a man is when in a few more hours time, more better missiles and bullets are going to start raining over his land. He and thousands of others will be lucky to survive this without NATO intervening and that's already been agreed that military help on the streets and in the air is unlikely as that will take the world down an uncontrollable road.

Please don't flame me. I've been consoling distraught teenagers all week from Ukraine and feel helpless (as we all do) when watching this horror story unfold.

By all means, lust over this man but please, not so publicly. If and when this crisis ends for Ukraine, then we can all join in, in celebration of this man and his bravery. For now, it's just blindingly insensitive Sad

LittleEsme · 05/03/2022 09:34

*Russian not better.

Don't know where that came from Sad

SueSaid · 05/03/2022 10:00

'Considering NATO is not in practice always a defensive alliance, he's correct to assert NATO doing nothing militarily IS contributing to death and destruction.'

NATO doing nothing? They have provided massive military support. They haven't implemented a no fly zone as Putin because will of course ignore it and it will lead to massive escalation.

I don't know what the answer is but this brave sexy hot leader should perhaps recognise NATO cannot start shooting Russian planes down unless we all fancy being vaporised.

stimpyyouidiot · 05/03/2022 10:06

I think he's absolutely fantastic.

NATO very clearly hasn't done what it has in previous missions and I see you blatantly ignored those examples.

NATO, by their own admission on their website, is focusing on economic sanctions and political isolation against Russia:

"NATO, along with the European Union and other partners, has helped coordinate Allies’ adoption of the unprecedented package of restrictive measures placed on Russia as a result of its brutal and unconscionable actions. These measures include massive and severe sanctions. President Putin’s decision to attack Ukraine is a terrible strategic mistake, for which Russia will pay a heavy price, both economically and politically, for years to come."

NATO itself is NOT providing any military assistance of any description to Ukraine.

Individual NATO members have provided very LIMITED military assistance as per NATO's own website:

"Individual NATO member countries are sending weapons, ammunition, medical supplies and other vital military equipment to Ukraine."

In military terms, this is NOWHERE near enough. It is effectively doing nothing of significance militarily.

Ukraine has very limited numbers of jets and tanks, for example, which it requires from NATO. Likewise, Ukrainian troops are outnumbered by Russia and will eventually be too exhausted to fight.

What NATO has done is send extra troops to NATO members such as Estonia as a defensive deterrent on the border.

That's what NATO should have done in Ukraine well before Russia invaded and when they started massing troops around Ukrainian borders.

NATO has failed Ukraine who they call a "close NATO partner"....

SueSaid · 05/03/2022 10:23

'NATO itself is NOT providing any military assistance of any description to Ukraine.'

Member states have provided massive military support equipment etc. He has had global support, countries rushing to help. There isn't a no fly zone why on earth can't he see that would lead to horrific escalation??

His 'i need ammo not a ride' style comments are a bit Confused imo.

No doubt he is stressed and exhausted but to say NATO is responsible for every death from this day is a terrible thing to say. Again, no, Putin is.

LittleEsme · 05/03/2022 10:23

The question though, is why?

Why haven't they sent in more defence?

As a total lay person with zero expertise in anything military, it feels like NATO are treading on eggshells because heavier intervention leads to the utter unthinkable.

SueSaid · 05/03/2022 10:25

Nothing will be enough. But to say it is nothing of significance is just not true.

The member states themselves are NOT NATO. If you bother to look at the excerpts from NATO'S own website, you'll understand that crucial difference.

By your logic, NATO was involved in the invasion of Afghanistan because three NATO members were! Hmm

Zelensky actually didn't say NATO was responsible for every death from now on! His words verbatim:

"All the people who die from this day forward will also die because of you, because of your weakness, because of your lack of unity."

He said "ALSO" which means Zelensky blames Putin as a primary cause and NATO inaction as a secondary cause.

On both counts, he's 100% correct.

Despite NATO'S claims, they are not always a defensive alliance. They have been on the offensive before.

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 10:30

I read somewhere in a haze of Twitter that 66 thou Ukraine have gone back to fight.
Also from uk 1,600 have been said to go? I'e Brits.

Then I heard rumours of ex retired sas and ffl.... that's all what we know about.
I wonder if other countries have people going to help ?

It takes time to get all these weapons into Ukraine and then get them to the right places.

Hopefully a ceasefire gives them that Extra time?

DownNative · 05/03/2022 10:32

Fear of nuclear war is one reason, but the other reason is NATO member armies are much weaker than they used to be.

Look at what happened with the US Army. German Parliamentary report showed the German army is decrepit with ageing equipment and Germany unable to fulfill NATO training exercises. The British Army is much smaller than in the past.

In short, NATO has been carried by the US fir years while Europe allowed their military strength to slide.

Not true!

NATO fighter jet capability would make a huge difference to the Ukrainian Army. This would enable Ukraine to turn the tide which is slowly going against them as they become depleted.

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 10:37

I must say thank god for the USA

It's one of the only things I agreed with trump on, raise your spending! I bet they regret that now!!

Why have they let it slide?
The USA are all over the world providing support and buffers everywhere???
Their plane's and base's area all over the EU.

Thank god for them, non of us it seems could hold the line without them.

Jedsnewstar · 05/03/2022 10:37

Yes and now Facebook is full of idiots posting how the war is faked and how he is an actor (showing the IMDb page as evidence). These are on local groups and selling pages etc, if I had these morons as friends I would delete them immediately, even family.
I also searched some of their names in the same groups, funnily enough many are the same people who have been posting anti vax stuff.
We live in dangerous times in many ways.

MrsFezziwig · 05/03/2022 10:45

I love Bob, but not sure he's prime minister material. He seems a bit thick on 8 out of 10 cats! (though I guess our current crop are the pinnacle of intelligence..)

If your measure of intelligence is “knows a lot of facts” then I’m sure you’re right. I bet Boris knows loads of facts.

@BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ

Hate to lower the tone but he’s also fit as fuck. And the braver he is the sexier he is. It’s very confusing when the news is on at the moment; terror of nuclear war and worry for everyone in Ukraine and then he comes on screen and gives me a racing heart.

We really are living in the strangest timeline.

Have you seen the Ukranian ambassador to London? He is gorgeous too.
