To go back to hairdresser and say this isn't ok?

Whathefrick · 28/02/2022 21:06

This is the picture I showed her. My hair was a bronde balayage but grown out for a good 8 months so the top half was quite dark and the bottom was very blonde. She said that she would do a dark root melt and then bring some blonde up to the top but that she would also add some lowlights to add dimension like ok the picture

So what the fuckety fuck has she done to my hair? I was very clearly not happy I was holding back tears but just wanted to get out of there. This isn't good enough though right?

Oh man, I think the first one is ok!

I'm looking forward to seeing the new hair.

MrsMingech · 01/03/2022 15:42

OP what's a root melt?

lemondrop21 · 01/03/2022 15:44

Sorry op, she's done a crap job. Those highlights are like something from the 90's. definitely go back and complain

KarmaStar · 01/03/2022 15:48

I don't like it,looks brassy.sorry.go back but be specific.she should have told you if she couldn't attain what you wanted before hand.

  1. Loads of people can’t see the issue.
  2. The aspirational photo and result don’t look that different
  3. It looks much better now than it did before
  4. You let the roots grow out for EIGHT months? It looked pretty awful fir much if that time! Sorry.
  5. have you any idea how hard it is to get the result you wanted in hair that has such an inconsistent combination of treated / untreated hair and disparate shades?
  6. Ergo, YABVU

  • Loads of people seem to have got the photos mixed up and loads of people can see the issue.
  • I hope you aren't a hairdresser, it's not hard to see the difference
  • You're missing the point.
  • And ?
  • 5.I wouldn't have the slightest idea, and I would expect a professional to tell me if "hard" means impossible, and not to start.

So are you a bad hairdresser then?

    GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 01/03/2022 16:09

    @FateHasRedesignedMost

Your hair looks much finer and wispier than the hair in the photo you showed her, I don’t think she could get it looking the same without extensions.

The model’s hair has been styled, waved and probably touched up with high gloss products. She may also have had bleach and Olaplex added and probably paid a lot to have that sort of hand painted balayage.

Even if the tone, colour and distribution of blonde/brown were the same, it would never look like the model’s as the texture, cut and density is completely different.

Then it's the salon's job to say "You're not going to get this effect because your hair is finer/whispier/whatever and you don't have extensions" or "We'll only be able to get this effect with X and Y which will cost £Z extra".

Not just crack on regardless, knowing full well that it won't work, then charge the client for a poor imitation.

Had a similar thing years ago, a salon put coloured lowlights in my hair, charged me a fortune then, when I said that I could hardly see it, they said my hair was too dark to take the colour. I suggested it was their job to know what colours would and wouldn't show up.

    Gizacluethen · 01/03/2022 16:10

Honestly it looks terrible and you can really see the two halves.

    Benjispruce5 · 01/03/2022 16:17

    It really doesn’t look terrible!

    Boozeless · 01/03/2022 16:25

Glad you went back. Can't wait to see the end result!

    Sapphireskies · 01/03/2022 16:37

That looks amazing. I don't understand why you are upset? That's exactly as the hairdresser described

    Sapphireskies · 01/03/2022 16:38

Apologies I thought the third pic was what you got. Yes go back and complain.

    Sapphireskies · 01/03/2022 16:39

It's come out copper and blonde. So yeah that's nowhere near what you asked for

    BobHadBitchTits · 01/03/2022 16:44

I'm just here to see the outcome.

    Daisy4569 · 01/03/2022 16:51

    Hope it was successful!

    SheldonesqueTheBstard · 01/03/2022 16:55

Looking forward to seeing it OP 🙂

    Bohemianwannabe · 01/03/2022 17:02

It looks nothing like she asked for. The first two pictures in the op are ops hair after having it down. The 3rd photo is the inspiration picture.
    dreammattemousse · 01/03/2022 18:14

How does it look now op!?

    FloBot7 · 01/03/2022 18:21

I don't think it's terrible by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe a more neutral or ashy tone would improve it a bit but it's ok. The inspiration photo is better styled than your own hair and wave/curls give balayage a whole different dimension. When I go to my hairdresser I always remind her that I style my hair straight (because I don't have the dexterity for waves). She changes her approach so it looks ok straight or natural (a very slight wave). It always looks good but never as good as on the day when she put in waves for me.

    looklikeanelephant · 01/03/2022 18:28

Hope it's all sorted now OP. I agree it wasn't what you'd asked for!

You're looking at the wrong picture. She didn't get anything like she asked for and her hair was nicer before it was done.

Hope you're pleased with the new do @Whathefrick
