To go back to hairdresser and say this isn't ok?

This is the picture I showed her. My hair was a bronde balayage but grown out for a good 8 months so the top half was quite dark and the bottom was very blonde. She said that she would do a dark root melt and then bring some blonde up to the top but that she would also add some lowlights to add dimension like ok the picture

So what the fuckety fuck has she done to my hair? I was very clearly not happy I was holding back tears but just wanted to get out of there. This isn't good enough though right?

The first two reddish pictures are what has been done. The third blonder one is what she wanted. I know @JaneJeffer and I still don’t think it looks that bad.

Glad you went back OP.

If I was a shop owner I'd rather people have me a chance to fix my service if they weren't happy, versus never coming again and potentially leaving a bad review online.

Neither do I. But that really isn't the point. OP does and it is her who has to live with it.

Just wanted to say well done on you OP for returning - whenever I've done this it's mostly been to tone down e.g. pink highlights once (they were far too bright!). My last disaster I was so angry and even now I'm growing it out that I just walked out and the manager said to me, because I refused to pay, that she understood because the hairdresser just didn't listen to me and rushed... but this was in the first weeks after the first Covid lockdown ended.

@Benjispruce5 “don’t think it looks that bad” is hardly a glowing endorsement of it though. If you’re paying the amount of money for you hair that hairdressers charge you want it to look a lot better than “not that bad”!

It's been a mix of foils and hand painting today. The root melt was done as I expected unlike yesterday. They are alternating toner now to add dimension or something (rather than dying my hair orange again - I hope) Have the last of the toners on now. Nervous!

Well done for going back in op, the pics are hairline terrible! They’ve got that cheap stripy nightlights from the 90s look going on! It sounds like the manager’s approach is far more modern and technical.

How on earth did she manage to put red in your hair? What you wanted looks nothing like that. I mean what you got isn't God awful but it's not what you paid for and these appointments are bloody expensive. I'd be looking for something a lot closer to what I asked for.

Sorry thankfully I'm happy with it, so much so I forgot about the drama and the thread!

The hairdresser took a lovely picture in natural light where you can see all the different colours better when she finished but she hasn't uploaded it anywhere.. so this is the best I can get! Chopped a good inch more off the back and bought it to the same length as the front and it looks so much thicker and healthier from that too and I'm a lot happier with the colour. I can't believe the red tones came out so easily, mind you there was a lot of bleach!
