Just a short one, and venting really.
DP decided to change the bedding this morning, and complained that 'all of the duvet covers are missing'. (they're not)
Anyway, he went to work and I went to put a clean cover on, and couldn't find the dirty one anywhere - not in the wash basket, or in a pile. So I rang him - where's the duvet cover you took off?
reply - 'it's in the back of my car, I'm taking it to the dump, I've always hated it'
To which I replied 'Fuck that. I'm going to throw away all the stuff of yours that I hate!'
WIBU?

He sounds very sexy and mature.

HundredMilesAnHour · 27/02/2022 12:09

And this sort of behaviour is how the ick starts....

WhatNoRaisins · 27/02/2022 12:10

Who the hell drives a duvet cover to the dump? Don't you have one of those bins that takes bedding?

And yes he's being a dick.

IsItTooHotInHere · 27/02/2022 12:11

You're both very childish

Billybagpuss · 27/02/2022 12:13

Love this you’ve given me a good laugh, make sure he springs for 500+ thread count when he replaces it.

MsHampton · 27/02/2022 12:14

Unless I really liked the duvet cover, I'd find this quite funny. Depends what he's like the rest of the time though.

supersop60 · 27/02/2022 12:15

It's this one. Not terrible.

My DP was stomping around the other saying he had to clean pants. We all burst out laughing. He now refuses to put any of his washing in the dirty washing basket and washes his own clothes separately. Funny? yes - very. Childish? YES! And stupid.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/02/2022 12:17

I know this isn't the point but I love that duvet cover.

dizzydizzydizzy · 27/02/2022 12:17

No clean pants

supersop60 · 27/02/2022 12:18

@MsHampton - what makes it funny?
@IsItTooHotInHere - I'm starting to stick up for myself. He has form for riding roughshod, and I have always let him.

That's a lovely duvet cover! Your DH is an arse.

ImInStealthMode · 27/02/2022 12:21

Yeah if it was a duvet cover I loved I'd be raging, (if it were my brushed cotton one I'd actually kill him) but in isolation the dramatics of driving a single duvet cover to the tip are quite funny.

If he's a stroppy arse all the time though, not so much.

ThinWomansBrain · 27/02/2022 12:21

Does that explain why all of the other duvet covers are missing?

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/02/2022 12:22

I used to have that one, it’s beautiful.

He’s being ridiculous but your response was no better. Are you both always this dramatic? Sounds exhausting.

Ah, in which case there are deeper issues.

I found your original post funny, DP just takes the duvet and drives it to the tip because he doesn’t like it. In a good relationship this could be funny. But Where you say you’re starting to stick up for yourself, it sounds like he often dismisses your likes and wants is this the case? In which case not funny bloody irritating.

EatSleepReplete · 27/02/2022 12:24

What a dick. That duvet cover is perfectly pleasant. Tell him he needs to replace it, & he needs to bear in mind while he's choosing that you will get the right to veto any covers you don't like, so he'd better choose wisely.

moretrumpetplease · 27/02/2022 12:25

Oh OP that duvet is horrible. Not quite "taking it to the dump" horrible, but it's...awful

supersop60 · 27/02/2022 12:25

I am not dramatic at all.
HE is exhausting to live with, especially when he's stressed about something.
My response was immediate and in the moment, unlike my normal thing which is to silently seethe.
He has form, and I've reached the end of my rope.

Well it depends on the context doesn't it?
We are quite jokey and petty with each other but it's in a happy and loving relationship.
So if one of us did something like that it wouldn't be in an unkind or mean way.

Sorry, but this. He's childish, and clearly there are deeper issues. But I would hide that one in a black hole...
moretrumpetplease · 27/02/2022 12:30

@supersop60 bizarrely, I have no musical talent beyond wailing along to radio 2 in the shower; my username is an inside joke with my now dearly departed DP. Either sort it out with yours, or don't, but honestly, it's not worth throwing it all away over a duvet cover. Sorry if my previous reply was dickish, I'm just being an arse. I know how much the little things can start to grate, but sincerely - no LTB, no ducks in a row, just TALK to him.
