DP being childish.

Just a short one, and venting really.
DP decided to change the bedding this morning, and complained that 'all of the duvet covers are missing'. (they're not)
Anyway, he went to work and I went to put a clean cover on, and couldn't find the dirty one anywhere - not in the wash basket, or in a pile. So I rang him - where's the duvet cover you took off?
reply - 'it's in the back of my car, I'm taking it to the dump, I've always hated it'
To which I replied 'Fuck that. I'm going to throw away all the stuff of yours that I hate!'
WIBU?

...it is an awful duvet though!

supersop60 · 27/02/2022 12:35

Nevertheless......

I have that duvet cover and I also hate it Grin I’ll bring it round so you can have it back!

Brilliant idea! It suddenly reappears after he's got rid of it. @supersop60 should get a few of them to really freak him out if he's going to get rid of it each time because "he doesn't like it" Grin

AppleNo8 · 27/02/2022 12:53

Beautiful duvet cover. I’d make him buy a new one just like it if he threw it out.

Bubblesandsqueak1 · 27/02/2022 12:55

Sounds like you are both childish and that cover is horrible needs burning sorry

passtheparsnips · 27/02/2022 12:59

Is it his birthday soon? Buy him the duvet cover.

(I like btw)

stripeyflowers · 27/02/2022 13:00

I can't help wondering exactly how hideous this duvet might look that is warrants being driven to the dump?

NowEvenBetter · 27/02/2022 13:01

Did you buy it? If you did, your boyfriend needs to reimburse you. Sounds like a pathetic relationship, what’s the point? Do you need a boyfriend?

istandwithukraine · 27/02/2022 13:01

Yeah I sort of agree on the duvet cover front.....it's very chintzy

And anyway what does it matter - you said they the other duvet covers werent missing so just put a spare on 🤯 - if you can't find them then he was right all along wasn't he that they are missing?!

NowEvenBetter · 27/02/2022 13:02

Stripey you can select the only read OPs posts, if you can’t read the whole thread.

stripeyflowers · 27/02/2022 13:03

Sorry yes I just saw it!!

I actually like it, though.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 27/02/2022 13:03

Ooh - I can see why he doesn't like it.

You're both being ridiculous though.

He 'found' what he thought was a single pillowslip, not realising the duvet cover was folded inside. We have about 6 others in the airing cupboard. Not missing, all folded and complete.

I am in such a minority it's clear I have terrible taste in duvet covers! Shock

ladygindiva · 27/02/2022 13:09

Not a fan of the duvet cover tbh 🤣

NowEvenBetter · 27/02/2022 13:09

Yeah, not husband, so you’re legally single. Which is good, since it sounds like neither of you particularly cherish each other 😄

supersop60 · 27/02/2022 13:11

I'm going to show you the ones that MIL made, that DP likes.
If I can work out how to do it.

MistOverTheDowns · 27/02/2022 13:12

The advantage of him being a DP and not a DH is that you can get shut of him and his behaviours.

WomanStanleyWoman · 27/02/2022 13:14

I wouldn’t be calling anyone else childish in your shoes. I can’t understand how you’ve been together 22 years when you’re clearly only nine years old?

It can be the Christine of the duvet world! (Probably showing my age here with a Stephen King reference!) 😊

girlmom21 · 27/02/2022 13:17

Are all the bedclothes yours specifically or are they both of yours?

I think you're both being ridiculous. I think I'd laugh if my DP did this because it's just so random, but you clearly have deeper issues so it's not funny.

Tell him he can buy a replacement set that he likes.

MillenialInDenial · 27/02/2022 13:18

What an over dramatic response why didn't he just ask where a full set was rather than bin it?
I'd send him a link of where to buy a new one doesn't have to be the same either but if he's going out binning bedclothes I'd want them replaced.
