Just that really. Sociopathic Patel refusing visas. In a time where we need leadership & empathy & intelligence there's a ducking idiot at the helm & Rees~Mogg making a fortune with insider trading.
Who the hell will admit to being so sociopathically selffish & grabby to still vote Tory?

I think people who still plan to vote Tory must be very accepting of sexual misconduct.

Because there seems to be so very much of it in the Tory party.

This "Peter Bone waggling his penis in some poor aide's face" business is just the latest we've heard about even though some of the allegations date back to Cameron's time, four or five Prime Ministers ago.

It makes me wonder who else in the Tory party is facing no consequences for years so long as they play ball with all the squabbling ferrets in the Tory sack.

SerendipityJane · 18/10/2023 12:54

I think people who still plan to vote Tory must be very accepting of sexual misconduct.

I am sure the will justify it to themselves. Probably some horseshit about "innocent until proven guilty" (because the nominally determined Mr. Bone hasn't been tried in a court they approve of) along with a dose of not intruding into peoples personal lives and a soupcon of "it's all politically motivated anyway". All totally valid points worthy of debate if they were applied equally. However, all people being treated equally is a true Torys worst nightmare.

Oh dear, that's Labour out of the running then - I can think of at least four sexual misconduct/assault cases within the Labour Party over the last twelve months:

May 2023 - Female Labour MP accuses shadow minister of sexual assault
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/may/11/female-labour-mp-accuses-shadow-minister-of-sexual-assault

May 2023 - Labour aide [advising a Labour frontbencher] ‘allowed to continue work after sexual harassment complaint upheld’
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/may/10/labour-defends-complaints-process-after-three-year-delay-in-harassment-case

May 2023 - Former Labour MP Paul Clark jailed over child abuse images

21 October 2022
Labour MP Christian Matheson resigns over sexual misconduct

Have you thought about voting for the Green Party instead?

BIossomtoes · 18/10/2023 17:38

”Yes, but Labour” is getting very tired, Clav. Why not try to defend Tory misdemeanours instead?

Pension triple lock under threat as Jeremy Hunt considers lower payments

Oh dear - another reason not to vote for Labour.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/government-tony-blair-treasury-sharon-graham-rishi-sunak-b2411295.html

Only if you’re a pensioner. As it happens I am and it’s far from a good enough reason to change my Labour vote. I see Hunt’s finessing the Triple Lock to squirm out of paying a few quid.

Our poor neglected infrastructure

I think you've missed the purpose of the article:

Substantial investment in public transport for England’s biggest cities must be accompanied by restrictions on car access to alleviate congestion.

That won't please everyone.

Water meters should be compulsory for households and businesses.

I'm not keen on having a compulsory water meter myself.

People on lower incomes should have heat pumps installed free, while the other two-thirds of households should receive subsidies of £7,000 each for their installation.

Who is going to pay for that? Up to £10bn a year quoted on LBC this afternoon.

Upgrading homes with high levels of insulation is not needed before installing heat pumps.

Why is Labour planning to insulate 19m homes if high levels of insulation is not needed before installing heat pumps?

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jul/09/labours-plan-to-insulate-more-homes-would-create-4m-job-opportunities

Alexandra2001 · 18/10/2023 18:40

@Clavinova I rarely agree with you but regardless of the wisdom of heat pumps vs hydrogen, the UK simply doesn't have enough skilled people to install a heat pump, its not just bolting the thing to a wall, you then need plumbers electricians, general builders etc

Any tried getting a tradesperson recently? and then seen the cost of materials?

Even in middle income homes, the costs can be a lot more than £7k and folk simply can't afford it, we are all expected to buy an EV too....

The gangs all here !

They forgot Weaselly Streeting;

"The NHS must modernise or die..."
"Pouring ever increasing amounts of money into a system that isn't working is wasteful in every sense"

Have you considered voting for the Greens instead?

Goodness, "Weaselly Streeting". What a cutting, incisive and intellectual argument. How can mere facts and logic stand up against such incredible wit?

the wisdom of heat pumps vs hydrogen

Anyone who tries to tell me hydrogen is a solution to our energy problems is a charlatan, or has been put up to it by charlatans.

The best way to use hydrogen to transport energy, is to add some carbons and maybe an oxygen. Because you cannae change the laws of physics.

Sounds like we're quits then.

Gillray would be right at home - it's clearly a very English tradition.

Yes Wales is a good example. You get Labour long term as votes fit the demographic more. The idea that ‘someone else’ can pick up the tab.

Hopefully the someone else’s don’t mind as otherwise you’ll have a problem.

And attitudes like this is why independence is currently at 35% amongst those who have an opinion. Wales is badly underfunded. We’re a net exporter of green electricity and the companies that produce it pay no tax in Wales. We are a net exporter of water and the profits and taxes go to Westminster, we are a net exporter of food. We are paying £5 billion for HS2 because Westminster has decided that wales benefits from a train between London and Birmingham. We pay 13% of the subsidy for rail infrastructure and 5% of its spent in Wales.

I have (when I was young and stupid) voted Tory in the past. I despised Jeremy corbyn for the short sighted ideological based policy he espoused but I voted Labour because I knew Boris was worse. I’ll vote labour this time because I desperately need the corruption and incompetence to end, but I’d rather be voting for independence.

Labour have promised an investigation into the covid PPE scandal. I’ll be very disappointed if I don’t see people going to jail and tories having to resign for their involvement.

travellinglighter · 19/10/2023 17:54

Higher dependency under labour? Like millions of working people claiming Universal Credit despite being in full time employment? Tories have been in power for 13 years why haven’t they sorted that out?
