Just that really. Sociopathic Patel refusing visas. In a time where we need leadership & empathy & intelligence there's a ducking idiot at the helm & Rees~Mogg making a fortune with insider trading.
Who the hell will admit to being so sociopathically selffish & grabby to still vote Tory?

Lol

Clavinova. Self evidently. I mean, how can you argue with such watertight evidence of the born-to-rule party's largesse, financial competence, and bottomless compassion? Not to mention the dazzlingly vast gene pool and faultless decorum.

Crikeyalmighty · 19/10/2023 20:08

@travellinglighter if they had implemented a vast social housing (of all sizes) programme combined with rent controls appropriate to each area , along with funded childcare hours for age 1 onwards plus (in my opinion ) factoring in maintenance payments for UC- they could have controlled UC far better. They have actually put some less well paid families in a position where people aren't stupid and realise they are better off not always 'living with a partner' (at least not on paper) - and I say this as someone who isn't a Tory

Clavinova · 19/10/2023 20:28

Lol

Well, I had to laugh at Pat McFadden's comment in the article up thread;
'Sunak has been forced to rebrand' [the Conservative Party] and later he writes;
'This is a changed Labour Party'.

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 02:48

Tamworth was the Tories 55th safest safe seat.

And wasn't even in Labour's top 300 target constituencies.

The Conservative candidate didn't even want to come onto the stage for the result.

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 02:59

I'm not surprised the Tory candidate hid

20,000 fewer Tory voters than 2019 is going to be a bit alarming to the deluded in the party who thought things weren't that bad.

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 03:04

"Uber for Tory candidates with less than 20,000 majorities"

ghostyslovesheets · 20/10/2023 03:14

Tamworth Labour voter here. Just had a little (quiet) dance round the kitchen and a swig of vodka - I am very happy! Hope this translates to a national victory in the next 12-18 months
as to the Tory candidate, he was consistently sold to us on his credentials as an ex soldier ( like this automatically made him a good person) but I think he wanted to run away tonight

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 03:20

I think he did @ghostyslovesheets

Who the F**K still thinks voting Tory is a good idea.
ilovesooty · 20/10/2023 03:21

The Tory candidate seems to be hiding in Mid Bedfordshire too.

That result wasn't even all that close and this has always been a Conservative constituency.

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 03:23

And Mid-Bedfordshire!

They couldn't find him. Eventually he appeared looking, erm, Tired and Emotional 2023. Apparently he ran out of the building straight after the announcement.😵‍💫

ilovesooty · 20/10/2023 03:31

The longer Sunak holds on the worse the general election result is likely to be for the Conservatives I think.

ilovesooty · 20/10/2023 03:33

I think it's apparent that the tactic will be to blame Nadine Dorries 😉

Perhaps he realised that telling people to fuck off unless they're in abject poverty wasn't a good idea.

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 03:39

Gutless wonders.

verdantverdure · 20/10/2023 03:46

The Tories don't understand the economy so they hope that just as it inexplicably (to them) went bad it will somehow, at some point, inexplicably come good and they'll hold the election after they've had pollsters checking that we've noticed.

The trouble is my mortgage payment will still be more than it used to be every month so even if food prices aren't rising as fast as they were I'm still paying the Tory Mortgage Tax

And if they don't put off implementing Brexit again the cost of everything will go up with actual border checks so we'll all be paying the Tory Brexit Tax too.

Crapsummer2023 · 20/10/2023 06:12

The more Helicopter Boy shows his face, the worse the result for the Tory’s.

They keep wheeling out the crank Braverman to scream some insult, thinking the base will love it, but they don’t. She’s an embarrassment.

We’ve been turned into a poverty stricken international laughing stock. We are humiliated.

Zonder · 20/10/2023 06:21

In answer to the original question, not many people, thankfully!

dressedforcomfort · 20/10/2023 07:59

Much as I hate Labour's flip-flopping on women's rights and TWAW, I will vote for them.

Basically, there is so much wrong with the country atm, I can't make this election about 1 issue. There's massive issues in the NHS, schools, adult social care etc and I feel Labour will probably take those issues more seriously. Although I think it would need a good 10 years of Labour government to make any headway at all, the country is so screwed.

Alexandra2001 · 20/10/2023 08:10

Excellent news over night but it should also be remembered that the turn out was low... so many people who voted Tory last time, didn't vote yesterday.

Even so... by elections with these sorts of majorities stay with the incumbent party.

@dressedforcomfort Yes the Country has been well and truly run down over the last 13 years, will be extremely hard to turn things around.

Yes, we are paying a Tory Tax - a financial price for their terrible governance and of the scale level of corruption.

He's certainly no loss to Parliament. The interview with him about That Tweet showed him up as a complete fool. The very fact that the Tories chose someone like that as candidate demonstrates their continuing arrogance.

It speaks volumes that the Tories couldn't get their vote out in a previously very safe constituency where they were known to be in danger. Yes, they were angry about Dorries, but they weren't being asked to vote for her, so realistically that factor made little difference.
