Just that really. Sociopathic Patel refusing visas. In a time where we need leadership & empathy & intelligence there's a ducking idiot at the helm & Rees~Mogg making a fortune with insider trading.
Who the hell will admit to being so sociopathically selffish & grabby to still vote Tory?

Exactly. Don’t piss off the people who do pay

The sheer amount of people who don’t is too big

100% for those data buffs - the ONS data released this year backs it up. The majority of adults now don’t pay enough in compared to what they take out. The majority of adults are state dependent. The majority. simply put - not enough people are working or paying in what they should.

The ones that do pay are ever shrinking and are now a minority. They are also the ones with options about going abroad to a fairer society. Higher wages, more balanced tax system, etc. It’s not a scare tactic, they stats prove it. Keep penalising the same minority over and over again isn’t working. We are now in the situation we are borrowing just to meet state costs.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/10/2023 20:18

We are going to hell in a handcart.

Condo · 07/10/2023 20:21

Another fun fact - To be a net contributor to the uk you need to earn £41k a year.

couple the minority shrinking people who are paying leaving with the cash in hand barbers and hand car washes and it doesn’t take a genius to work out what is coming

The UK has the worst of capitalism and socialism combined

It’s why I wouldn’t be writing the Tories off just yet and I’m not a fan. Someone on 50k isn’t loaded. Higher tax, CHB, no help at all. Fiscal drag has been a huge stealth tax increase. £125k isn’t the salary of kings it one was. Although a minority, these people will think long and hard before voting Labour. With that and the pensioner vote - could well see a hung parliament. People forget that Brexit was a sure fire remain. I wouldn’t be counting any chickens. Once people realise Labour can’t fund their promises because all the productive workers have left…well…

Dint forget to add in the fact that Welsh tourism was down 33% last year.

But I’m sure that’s the fault of Westminster too.

What is your point?

Are Welsh Labour to blame for tourism being down? You sure it's not the weather, or the post Covid surge to go abroad?

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship

Quite. However the issue is, instead of people realising this, they think Labour taking more of other people’s money is the answer. Just a one way ticket to even more state reliance as even more people with options leave.

Rather than Twain, the man most responsible for the popularity the aphorism now enjoys in probably Robin Williams. In the film Man of the Year (2006), Williams’s character utters the lines, “Remember this ladies and gentleman: It’s an old phrase, basically anonymous, politicians are a lot like diapers, they should be changed frequently, and for the same reasons. Keep that in mind the next time you vote.

Won’t happen though will it? We switch between the same broken parties who both have clear responsibility over this mess. It was kick started by CTC.

Condo · 07/10/2023 21:28

Yes I’m also not sure what point you are trying to make @SerendipityJane

Beetlebumz · 07/10/2023 21:43

You’d have to be out of your mind to vote conservative, even if you have voted for them in the past. If you can’t see that they have bled this country dry in the last 13 years you need serious help.

You’d have to be equally out of your mind to vote Labour with state dependency the highest on record.

Whereforartthoudave · 07/10/2023 22:06

‘I agree no private school parent is going to vote for a party ‘

laughing at the idea that parents who are shelling out on average £20k PER child for private school were ever intending on voting Labour anyway.
93% voters have kids in normal schools. I don’t think it’s going to keep any party that’s not-the- Tories awake at night thinking that wealthy, private school users who only vote Tory will still vote Tory.

Condo · 07/10/2023 22:19

@Whereforartthoudave if you don’t know any parents who are bankrupting themselves to send a child to private school because the state options are so shit you are lucky.

I will vote Labour. I’d leave the UK because of its crumbling infrastructure, not because I’m going to be taxed more. Basic infrastructure that deliver a healthy, educated population need investment, which means higher taxes.

Tatumm · 07/10/2023 22:29

It’s poor management by the tories, who have squandered the taxes raised. Look at HS2!

Yes it does. However higher rate payers already pay some of the highest taxes in the world. The problem is no-one else does. You can’t raise more taxes when the majority of the population aren’t paying in. If you want a system like in other countries then other people have to do their bit. I’m leaving because of both; easy to say you’re happy to pay more when you aren’t paying 70% marginals.

That's not labour's fault though, is it? It's the fault of the current lot. Stop blaming labour for imaginary things that you think they will do. Are you the Daily Mail?

If you read my posts it’s the fault of both. Yes, it is Labour’s fault. They kick started the rot and state dependency with tax credits. It’s got worse and worse and now the Tory’s have compounded the problem with their taxation system (proven to stop productivity).

I know this is a really hard concept for people to understand but it’s possible to not want to vote Tory but also think Labour are equally as shit. The magic money tree is no longer available, the ONS statistics are all out there. Being able to see the long term issues with both parties just means you are able to critically think and understand the economy and realise how they are both disastrous. Daily Mail 🥱

Zonder · 07/10/2023 23:03

But we know it will be one or the other. There's no way a third option will happen. So the choice really is Tory or labour. And if you think labour are equally as shit as Tory, given their 13 years out of power and out of actually doing anything, then you need your bumps felt.

How old are you? The adults are talking about the issues which are serious for the future of the country. I don’t care who gets in, we are leaving and taking our 6 figures in tax with us.

Zonder · 07/10/2023 23:17

I'm in my 50s and have a long memory of how life has been under different parties. None have been quite as shit, scary and frankly corrupt and self serving as this lot.

Please do leave. We don't need your kind of negativity at a time when we do need change. Preferably leave before the vote.

Zonder · 07/10/2023 23:18

If you really care so little for the country that you don't want to contribute a 6 figure tax sum, which must mean you earn so much you would have plenty left over, then we don't want that level of greed and selfishness when people are literally starving.
