To not believe this Amazon driver just left me high and dry like this?

I have covid, a moderate level so I am feeling rough and quite emotional. I also live alone and now have to isolate at home for 10 days.

I ordered a Morrison's delivery on Prime before I knew I had covid. I also added a note to the delivery today saying I am self isolating. I also added a large note to my front door.

When they came, I buzzed them in (I live in a flat). The guy came up, knocked twice, then left with all my stuff because I did not physically open the door to receive him. So I'm left high and dry without some essentials and food. AIBU to not believe they did this?

Did you talk to him through the door to your flat?

CheesusWept · 26/02/2022 12:42

Did you not just shout through the door and ask him to leave it on the floor when he knocked?

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 26/02/2022 12:42

When you get a delivery straight from Morrisons it says to leave a note on your day and some boxes / bags and your delivery person will put them in for you and then knock as they leave to let you know they've been. Are you sure there is no where on your documents that say something similar?

janeseymour78 · 26/02/2022 12:42

I have lost my voice @CheesusWept. Can't even make a phone call.

Why didn’t you open your flat door then step back?

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 26/02/2022 12:43

leave a note on your door

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 26/02/2022 12:43

Did you indicate you were home in any way?

LubaLuca · 26/02/2022 12:43

A note on the door would have been sensible then. He can't leave things in a communal area, and he wasn't to know it was you that had let him in.

nordica · 26/02/2022 12:44

He probably thought no one was at home? I would have just opened the door briefly. You're unlikely to give someone covid through a 30 second interaction from a distance.

janeseymour78 · 26/02/2022 12:44

What I am saying here is that common sense and compassion would surely lead the person to leave my things. I just wanted food and some medication. Now I have neither.

But she had a large note in the door according to the first post

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 26/02/2022 12:44

That's so frustrating for you.

Did the note say you're isolating? Or did you specifically tell the driver to leave it on the step for you?

I think you would have been better to put a mask on and open the door.

These drivers have very strict instructions and get various penalties if someone complains about a missing parcel or they don't deliver on time etc.

I know it's shit for you op, but I don't think the driver really did anything wrong here.

BenjiMcSchmenzie · 26/02/2022 12:44

She left a large note on her front door! Says so in the OP.

It's rubbish OP. Can anyone go to a local shop for you?

janeseymour78 · 26/02/2022 12:44

@CloseYourEyesAndSee I buzzed him in when he pressed the button to my house.

I also put the self isolating note on both the order and the door.

OP posts:
LubaLuca · 26/02/2022 12:45

Yes, only the delivery driver should use common sense.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 26/02/2022 12:45

Morrisons deliver with no bags so I'm assuming amazon delivery maybe the same. If so where would they put the groceries if you hadn't provided them with anything? Contact their social media if you can't talk or look at Iceland as they sometimes do same day delivery if you have nothing in

poppupppirate · 26/02/2022 12:45

If you didn't open the door masked and stand back or leave a note on the door I'm not sure what the drive was supposed to think?

Louisianagumbo · 26/02/2022 12:45

Maybe he's not allowed to just leave stuff without seeing someone in person? I think I would have put a mask on and opened the door, standing well back, rather than just leaving him knocking.

Winday · 26/02/2022 12:45

You couldn't have put a mask on, opened the door and stepped back? I'm guessing the delivery person may have been stung before by leaving things without actually seeing the recipient take them. I'd certainly be wary of leaving items unattended.

poppupppirate · 26/02/2022 12:46

Apologies just re read and saw you did leave a note.

The driver was an idiot.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 26/02/2022 12:46

You should have opened the door. I can't work out why you didn't.

@BenjiMcSchmenzie exactly. Common sense to help someone struggling surely?

I can probably get someone to go on Monday. It's things like food essentials, bin bags, cat food, paracetamols, etc.

No - with Morrisons prime they always deliver everything in one big bag which I thought would be ideal.

Apologies, I completely missed that you had left a note.

MikeandDave · 26/02/2022 12:49

Contact them and they will probably redeliver today. You may need to do what someone said and put some bags or boxes just outside the front door.
