Being offended by “womanface” (drag) is bizarre

Is anyone else thrown by the fact the Daily Mail has described the concept of being offended by drag as bizarre? I thought there was enough debate on the topic-and it has been going on for long enough to not be labelled as “bizarre”.
I’m not saying that I want to ban drag or anything, but surely I have a right to find it offensive? Otherwise aren’t we into the realms of thoughtcrime?

@Itwasntmeright

I find it offensive, not because men are dressing in women’s clothing, but because they present grotesque exaggerations of sexist and misogynistic stereotypes and somehow it’s supposed to be hilarious and entertaining. If white people were to do black face and present grotesque exaggerations of racist stereotypes it wouldn’t be hilarious and entertaining, it would be racist and unacceptable, and rightly so. This is the daily fail though, so…
Absolutely agree.

Wish they would all find a proper job.

I just want to throw something out there...not many drag queens use fake boobs.
Many will wear corsets and contour their chest or wear outfits with built in cups, wiring etc. Some also will wear padded bras to give a boob effect but no additional padding. Some even have their own boobs (through strategic moulding of their own chest fat, some via hormones, some are biological women known as bioqueens).

Giant fake boobs is the more cheesy, low budget, old(er) school of drag.

Also drag kings are amazing and have been around for years.

There's a thread right now on these boards isn't there about a male in a dress reading stories for children in a school That is all they are doing and people are in conniptions over this atrocity

That isn't about men dressing in women's clothes.

Do you think a woman would get away with reading stories to children in that outfit either?

Would a school call in a stripper in a glittery mini dress with half her arse on show and thigh high leather boots INTO A PRIMARY SCHOOL?

Could one of the teachers teach their class in that?

That thread is about much more than men just not being allowed to wear women's clothes. They were in a school, with very young children, children who (if you read the OP) were made to feel uncomfortable and awkward.

It's disgustingly inappropriate.

I am going to a drag King show in a few weeks time
Drag Queens as part of the LGBT world is fine imo. Gay men are a marginalised group as much as women are. Everyone seems to be conveniently avoiding the existence of drag Kings and saying there's no female equivalent. Just not true!
