Im in Herts and has 2 power cuts today.
DD in Cardiff lost some guttering

Onairjunkie · 18/02/2022 14:25

Ok we’ve got an injured horse. He’s been brought in and we just have to hope to fuck the stables hold. One of my lads got a bit walloped bringing him in. Sad I’m off to tend to him now and try to calm him the fuck down.

I’m sure someone will be along to mock us for it.

VelvetChairGirl · 18/02/2022 14:25

West London.

theres a tree across half the road, a council bin rolling around, a rogue watering can flopping about and a moped has fall over.

Cornettoninja · 18/02/2022 14:26

Us too, this is also a pertinent point that damage/injury reports aren’t instantaneous given the disruptions to power/internet access.

Some people are writing off an ongoing situation and it’s absolutely idiotic. Just be grateful you’re safe and well fgs.

I really hope your Dad’s ok and his carer can get to him ❤️.

Picklypickles · 18/02/2022 14:26

It doesn't seem to bad where we are, possibly because our village is down in a valley? There are several trees down in neighbouring villages though.

ClaudineClare · 18/02/2022 14:26

Cardiff, very windy and rainy earlier, now sunny and mostly blue sky. Was that it then?

That is pretty dismissive tbh CounsellorTroi!

Pipe down *@HufflepuffPride* you’re pissing me off now. We’re struggling here.
I'm just reporting the dicks to MNHQ

Flowers to you and hope your animals will be ok

ClaudineClare · 18/02/2022 14:30

@nordica

I don't understand why people are so keen to minimise and be dismissive of others' experiences. It's like the first wave of the pandemic on here all over again with some posters keen to say nothing is happening.
I was thinking that too.
Francescaisstressed · 18/02/2022 14:31

I was in Cardiff, a house near me has lost its roof, another a tree has wiped out a garden and loads of debris damaging cars.

Hope everyone is staying safe x

Casheeeew · 18/02/2022 14:33

A local council employee has died trying to clear a road. A woman in Oxfordshire has serious head injuries. God knows what else is going on.
I just saw footage of a giant tree in Cornwall go down, and a car driving passed at the same time, luckily the tree fell the other way or it would of been game over for them. Very scary.

So some of these comments (it's all hype etc) are in really poor taste and those people should be ashamed.

LittleWhingingWoman · 18/02/2022 14:34

@Thymeout

I think people are dismissive because they were expecting something like the '87 hurricane or even worse, but Eunice is a different type of storm. The hurricane went on all night, building to a climax and then fading away. We woke up to see damage everywhere we looked.

But the danger of Eunice is in record-breaking gusts, coming, literally, out of the blue. I'm in SE London, Kent borders, and I really wouldn't know that there's anything wrong. Vinyl tablecloth still on garden table flapping a bit but nothing worse. But 10? miles up the road the O2 Dome is falling apart. With normal weather, we'd be experiencing the same half an hour later.

Exactly this. We've had branches falling hard at the back of the house and it's calm at the front!
BuddhaForMary · 18/02/2022 14:34

Started kicking off here around 12, torrential sleet and rain followed by blue skies. The wind started about an hour ago and it's built up quite strong now. West Yorkshire.

As if people are actually minimising to those who are getting the rough end of this thing?? What is your malfunction? Just because it's mild for you doesn't mean it isn't bad somewhere else.

Daftasabroom · 18/02/2022 14:37

Much calmer now in Devon.

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 18/02/2022 14:38

A couple of cracks have appeared in my walls below the chimneys. Really hope the reinforcements we had put in last year hold 😧

BlondeWidow · 18/02/2022 14:38

Absolutely nothing here on outskirts of York. We've had skies and sunshine all day 🌞 Smile

BlondeWidow · 18/02/2022 14:38

*blue skies Grin

LosingTheWill2022 · 18/02/2022 14:39

Can't believe the ego-centric attitudes of those posters dismissing the impact of the storm based solely on their personal experience.
Hmm

Bunnyfuller · 18/02/2022 14:42

@Daftasabroom good to hear, hoping it does here in Northants. It went calm for about 10 mins then kicked off again. Just taken dog in back garden on a lead as garden is now wide open and he would head off! He refused to see and just keep heading to the big gap in the fence as he thought the lead meant walking time!

Absolutely freezing, wild winds.

Feministwoman · 18/02/2022 14:45

@Onairjunkie

The lads have just had to go out and secure this bit of torn sheet metal flying around in the yard. It was flying around like it weighed nothing. Utterly deadly. They wouldn’t let me come with them and my heart was in my mouth watching them. They just sort of leapt on it to stop it and then had to slide it along the ground so the wind didn’t get under it again.
I've been watching one barn with my heart in my mouth, expecting the corrugated sheets to come adrift. So far one corner is lifting 😱

No animals in there, (thank goodness!) lots of farm machinery though.

Cows all on other side of house, hidden behind a wood, hunkered down, so hope they will be safe.

Fingers crossed all is well with you x

springisaroundthecorner · 18/02/2022 14:46

Windy in Sheffield but nothing more than a what we used to call an indoor day

Calmdown14 · 18/02/2022 14:47

Anyone who thinks 90mph winds is 'just a bit of breeze' has clearly never experienced it.
I'm north Scotland and we are fine this time but those of last month were terrifying. I live on the North sea. I know what wind is but at those speeds it is genuinely terrifying.
Our forests are absolutely insane even after some clear up.
Hope everyone stays safe
