Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

It seems that this was going to go this way, as in money settlement, as the Queen was getting annoyed about everything, with all this Andrew rubbish hanging about for ages, especially in her special jubilee year, and after all the crap about harry and meghan before, like a never ending saga of royal mess ups. I think the Queen has some say in all the royal messes that have been happening, especially these days, when the royal news is broadcast all over the world, and doesn't look good for the royals at all, and for the Queen especially.

Was it not always going to go this way (payout) because that's what a civil case is, regardless of the players 🤔
ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 16/02/2022 07:11

@Redroceritsover

Mummy may have got her cheque book out but you can bet the British tax payers will be the ones actually footing the bill albeit indirectly!
No, royalists will tell you the incredibly hard-working Queen has her own money.

She always sold stuff on Etsy on the side for pin money, and when Charles was old enough to mind the younger ones she was able to go out cleaning again.

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 07:16

The SG he started getting in 2001 wouldn’t have allowed him to accrue the money it took

I'm not talking about investments, but day to day running and maintenance of Royal Lodge, which I'm sure involves SG money.

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 07:19

It's called Piss Off money.

12 mill is a hell of a lot of piss off money for someone Andrew claims he's never met 🤔

Lockdownbear · 16/02/2022 07:20

It was a civil case so it was always about getting compensation out of him.

I some people were looking forward to watching him answer difficult questions under oath.
But remember the lawyers would have done the same to her, did she at any point say "no" or "I don't want this", what made her recruit other girls into it?

The only winners in court would have been the lawyers. They would have ripped both Andrew and her to shreds.

Rewis · 16/02/2022 07:35

To my understanding most cases like this get settled. So I'm not sure Andy is getting preferential treatment compared to anyone else.
Whether this is ok in wider societal context is a different thing.

UserBotLurking9to5 · 16/02/2022 07:52

We would all have enjoyed watching her lawyers rip him apart but his lawyers were going to do that to her. What kind of depressing message would it have sent if she ended up losing and paying his costs

He sold his chalet in Switzerland.

He sold his chalet in Switzerland.

He'd need a good bit more than he got for that

My point exactly. And then couldnt he also sue her? So she'd be screwed over twice and it wasn't ever a guarantee he'd be found guilty. Look who he is.
UserBotLurking9to5 · 16/02/2022 08:04

I remember reading that he still owned the previous owner of the chalet 5m. He just paid the amount he decided to pay and not the last 5m?

He got £18m for it, after paying off £6m worth of debt. If he paid VG £12m it's almost like it was planned, isn't it?

They paid it plus interest as they couldn't sell until they had
Gardeningcreature · 16/02/2022 08:13

Will people please stop saying “Where were her parents?” That is precisely the point. Groomed children are chosen because they are vulnerable, their parents are not there or are not wise etc etc.
Just look at MM if her parents hadn’t prioritised going out getting pissed and having a good time, then she would not have been taken.
It is not a child’s fault if the criminal finds you easy prey.

That won't cover his lawyers fees

The guys absolutely minted.
BringMeTea · 16/02/2022 08:27

A pretty good result for VG which pleases me. She is now wealthy and powerful. The sleazy scumbag Andrew is reputationally ruined and further light is shone on this set of wealthy perverts and abusers.. Also pleasing. And she hasn't had to take the stand. Hooray!

Roussette · 16/02/2022 08:27

Starfish

Do you have ANY idea about vulnerable teenagers? Parents aren't sat at home wondering why they haven't got home from school, with a cup of milk and a cookie. At worse they could be addicts, at best they don't care. VG had been sexually abused by a family member, had been homeless, had been abused again on the streets... all before being lured by GM into sex with older men.

Prince Andrew bought out the 75 year lease when he paid for its renovation in 2003. Any upkeep and maintenance comes out of his own pocket

Lolol. Where do you think his money comes from? How do you think he bought a £17M swiss chalet lodge, paid £9.6M for renovations at Royal Lodge for indoor swimming pool, cinema etc.... could you direct me to this money tree please. I'd like a wodge.

It's us, Mummy and dodgy deals. Or that money tree

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 08:30

Sadly not enough for his uber expensive lifestyle (and costly settlements). Three cheers for mummy though, huh?

Please do your research they are wealthy in their own right
Roussette · 16/02/2022 08:36

I don't think research is needed littlebillie.

Yes, they have wealth, yes, they have the Duchys... where do you think those monies come from?
How do those Duchys have money... from residential and commercial rents paid by Joe Public.
It's very opaque but somewhere along the line we fund and prop up the RF.
They are wealthy because they are not liable for the taxes we, the public, pay

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 08:37

They are.

But there's absolutely no transparency around what pot of money is being used for what.

Also, if they're wealthy enough to fund multi million settlements with their own cash, shouldn't we pull back on how much state money they're getting. Lord knows it's not like the country doesn't need it.

I have a feeling that I read somewhere that her Dad dropped her off.

I mean who would do that?

Just leave a teenager to go & massage a middle aged man.

She wasn't qualified-and that didn't ring alarm bells to him?

Basically, if it's too good to be true...
