Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

At the end of the day he was the friend of a criminal and she has lost the important piece of evidence

Everywhere I've read apart from the Daily Mail says the photo 'isn't in her possession' not that it's lost.

There is also lots of reports out there that the FBI has the photo

youvegottenminuteslynn · 15/02/2022 20:11

@EmpressCixi

8-10 eating dinner is NOT A PARTY

OK, Boris.

Roussette · 15/02/2022 20:12

8-10 eating dinner is NOT A PARTY

Oh FFS. You're sounding like Johnson. Andrew himself called it a dinner party. Do you think there was no alcohol, no talking, just stuffing their faces and that's it?

IAnd so what if he used JE for free place to stay?

Now you're sounding deranged. Do you imagine he pays for his own accommodation?

The Consulate offered him upmarket accommodation. He declined.

On 'so what'.... errrmmmm he was a convicted sex offender at the time. Will that do as an answer to 'so what'?

BlanketsBanned · 15/02/2022 20:12

Which side asked for the settlement today, if its just a coincidence that its the day that the photo got lost would her lawyers suggest a settlement as there is a big piece of 'evidence missing now.

Theunamedcat · 15/02/2022 20:13

@Trainbear

Does this mean that the girls she trafficked can take action against her? Or will she/ has she bought them off?
I'm pretty sure they could but again would they get anywhere as she too was a victim 🤔 it's America so anything is possible
diddl · 15/02/2022 20:13

"And so what if he used JE for free place to stay?"

Grin[grin ]Grin

Perhaps if he weren't such a freeloader he wouldn't be friends with someone just because of their bank balance.

Burnshersmurfs · 15/02/2022 20:13

@SoupDragon: How else did he malign her character, apart from by calling her a liar? Why else does he accept that the public attacks on her were ‘unfair’, unless he also accepts that she was telling the truth?

PinkTonic · 15/02/2022 20:13

@GreekGod

It's such a shame this didn't get to Court. It would have been wonderful to see him in prison. Clearly, he is just an awful disgusting useless man. I am glad the money is going to a charity.
Jesus how many more times. It. Was. A. Civil. Case.

The only possible outcome was financial, either a settlement or court ordered.

Roussette · 15/02/2022 20:14

Prince A said

Do you believe everything PA says? He's had dodgy dealings for decades and you are the first person ever who thinks what he said at the EM interview was all the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

KerryWeaver · 15/02/2022 20:14

The Queen does own the Crown Estates while she is monarch. They are not her private property, nor are they State property. The UK law says we take from the profits everything the RF costs plus extra. So while the RF costs around £82m/yr, we take around £260m/yr...the difference being like “rent” on the royal residences. Look it up my lovely.

This is not true.

I have also looked it up and I am not 'your lovely'.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 15/02/2022 20:15

@EmpressCixi

And so what if he used JE for free place to stay?

Yeah, sod the moral compass most of us have that means we wouldn't wish to stay (even if 'free') in the home of a convicted sex offender who serve time for crimes against a minor.

It's even more disgusting of PA because money was hardly tight and he was in a city with countless hotels and likely many other contacts.

You're defending a decision he made that, to anyone with genuine empathy for victims of sex crimes, is indefensible.

Cuck00soup · 15/02/2022 20:17

It's no surprise it was settled out of court. As PP said so are 90% of cases.

After the Emily Maitliss interview, no way would wiser heads have let Andrew get into court.

Virginia Guiffre has shown the world who is is though.

Roussette · 15/02/2022 20:17

Agreed. The Consulate accommodation was offered to him.

It beggars belief that there are posters on here avidly defending him for spending time with a sex offender/trafficker ... even after his statement today regrets it himself. Weird.

SoupDragon · 15/02/2022 20:18

It doesn't say the maligned her character.

It has been very, very carefully worded to admit nothing.

Gilmorehill · 15/02/2022 20:19

It really says a lot about Andrew that even with his status he had to scrape the bottom for friends with those two. (Who were clearly using him) Them and some dodgy ones from Kazakhstan.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 15/02/2022 20:19

I've always thought this man was a disgusting slimeball. I don't really remember him being married to Sarah Ferguson but I would love to know what stories she has on him. He comes over as an entitled spoiled brat and pompous as hell, and not of the right calibre to be in the armed forces if he's prancing around reminding everyone he's a prince.

I've only been used to seeing him as greedy Air Miles Andy, posing on yachts with women and boozing. At the end of the day he is just a guy, like the one next door to me or my brother (well, no, they aren't creeps like him but you get my point. Royal my a**e)

He should now sod off into obscurity.

Suzi888 · 15/02/2022 20:20

@Duntelchaig

Her principles didn’t last long. I can’t believe she did this!
She didn’t have the original evidence. If she lost the case she may have had to pay costs, damages? (not sure) had her name dragged through the mud/accused of lying. He still looks guilty as hell. He’s just just lucky that his money and status have saved his ass.
SockFluffInTheBath · 15/02/2022 20:21

Virginia Guiffre has shown the world who is is though.

A determined woman who fought harder than most could and most have?

StartupRepair · 15/02/2022 20:21

I think this is a pretty good outcome. Andrew has lost reputation, prestige and money which are all important to him. Ms Giuffre can get on with her life.
I would like to learn more about the other high profile men who abused these young girls.

NinaDefoe · 15/02/2022 20:22
@EmpressCixi

The Queen doesn't personally own the Crown Estates, nor is she entitled to the profits. If the RF was disbanded, then ALL the profits would go to the state, ie the public purse.

Waiting for someone to say 'ooh they only cost us a pound per year.' They cost a lot more than that. Wish more people would read 'And what do you do?' by Norman Baker to see how greedy and grasping this family is.
The person wearing the crown personally owns the Crown Estates.
At the moment that is the Queen.

Here is how it works in it’s simplest form (see pic)

Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court
Roussette · 15/02/2022 20:22

Absolutely.

As Libby Purves said about him in The Times 7 years ago...

"Prince Andrew dazzles easily when confronted with immense wealth and apparent power. He has fallen for 'friendships' with bad, corrupt and clever men, not only in the US but in Libya, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, wherever."

Hippophile · 15/02/2022 20:22

He’s such an arrogant, odious creature that there is no way he would have paid off a woman he had never even met. He would fight til the death to prove his innocence. After all, she has destroyed his reputation and some could say, his life. An innocent man, especially an innocent man possessing PA’s ego and hubris, would not let some commoner wreck his future. He would have been grateful for his day in court, an opportunity to worm his way out of such a sordid tale.

I'm not, I'm just disgusted. Shock

NinaDefoe · 15/02/2022 20:25

So basically the Crown Estates owned by the Queen (whilst she is in the throne) makes HM treasury a lot of money.
The Royal family get 15-25% paid as a Sovereign grant.

SleepyRoo · 15/02/2022 20:25

Foul man. And the Queen is paying to hide his shame
