@Juliauns91
We have no money - none.
He made me a card. The best thing is that there is a job I have to go and do every night 4.30-6pm 7 days a week. He went and did that job for me without asking. I am so happy - no shit job to do and dinner served to me in bed.

How thoughtful. That is true love!

Nothing. It's all a bit for the sake of it, and as DP and I won't even see each other for another week (LDR) it just passes by unremarked. I can ask for presents if I want them but I don't really see the point, especially as I earn 3x what DP does so can just buy them myself.

CleansUpButWouldPreferNotTo · 15/02/2022 01:03

We're the opposite of many people on here - we celebrate more now than we ever did when younger. Perhaps the rapidly approaching threat of decrepitude now we're old enough to qualify for winter fuel payment and free tv licence is making us more romantic and appreciating the time we still have left together.

I gave him a big selection of his favourite sweetmeats and he gave me a silver pillbox Smile and we opened a bottle of champagne before dinner, which he cooked.

Furries · 15/02/2022 01:59

I’m single, so nothing here.

However, it’s a Very Important Day as it’s my cat’s birthday. He’s very handsome, gives the best cuddles and he adores me - so all good here!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/02/2022 02:16

Card and a coffee in bed before he left for a meeting. Then a bacon sandwich, help chopping back the ivy, lavender, buddleia, honeysuckle and rosemary in the front garden so we can see out the windows before the birds, bees and other invertebrates move in for spring and we can't touch anything for another six months Then he made chicken curry and a neverending supply of tea.

For my part, I gave the senile and fluffy cat a sitz bath as she had a small but exceedingly smelly accident in the tray without dragging him in to assist with a full blown cat shit, hand wash and blow dry situation.

Knowing him, he'll probably buy another houseplant or flowers in a couple of days when they aren't so expensive.

A box of chocolates and a card with delboy on I'm so loved 🤣🤣🤣.

TheScottishPlay · 15/02/2022 02:59

I was given a card, earrings, a notebook and a novel I've been after. I gave DH a card, a shirt and a couple of books I knew he wanted.

It was our 25th Valentine's Day together. We only got merrily drunk together on a weekend away on our first one as it was early days.

We don't always go beyond a card but it's been a rough year for both of us and we wanted to give each other a wee cheer up.

The best bit was a sleepy cuddle on his wfh lunchbreak whilst I was in bed post night duty.

EllaVaNight · 15/02/2022 03:07

we do get each other nice bits through the year when we see something we think the other would like though! Just not on a qspecified day and not really balloons that deflate or flowers that die, more likely something we notice is near running out for the other, fave food/drinks or wee clothing items that will get use We get each other things throughout the year too and don't need a specified day. But we got each other a card with thoughtful messages inside. I got him some aftershave and favourite chocolates. He got me a bottle of gin and a love bug type thing which our two year old daughter chose!

Iwannabewherethepeopleare · 15/02/2022 03:50

Some people on this thread are so obviously also on the other thread judging folk who don’t have books on display Wink

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with not like Valentine’s Day but the way some of you go about it is embarrassing, it’s like a kid not getting the toy they want and telling everyone ‘well I didn’t even want it anyway!!!’ What do you get from trying to make people feel bad about themselves? It doesn’t make you look better than them, it makes you look like a knob.

TheGlitterFairy · 15/02/2022 04:29

Card, lots of liquorice which is a fave, bouquet of roses and an M&S dinner. Smile

SarahBellam · 15/02/2022 05:05

A trip to Rome.

LHReturns · 15/02/2022 05:22

My beautiful new tiny puppy

Aibu to ask what you got for Valentines day?
readingismycardio · 15/02/2022 05:27

Nothing. We just had covid, Sunday was our last day isolating and we were still shattered yesterday

daphnedoo12 · 15/02/2022 05:41

Cheap roses that DH made me wait all day in the house for to be delivered when it was my only baby free day and I wanted to go get a coffee.

He also put a photo of me cooking in my fucking pjs up on Facebook.

whitewashing · 15/02/2022 06:03

Card, roses, and lunch today in our favourite restaurant (it’s closed on Monday’s) oh! he cooked dinner last night too! ❤️

whitewashing · 15/02/2022 06:04

A trip to Rome.
Oh fabulous!! Have a wonderful time!
user1478172746 · 15/02/2022 06:20

I got a conversation - deep gratitude that I pushed him to have children. He would not have courage otherwise. So, ladies, when they tell you you can't be pushy... 😁😁😁❤

UsernameInTheTown · 15/02/2022 06:32

What is/are "a lobster biscuits?" Confused. What type of tea did you get? One of those selection boxes Pukka do?

scooterbear · 15/02/2022 06:35

A very beautiful leather jacket from All Saints Shock. I had an An accident recently and my old beloved leather jacket which I bought 20 years ago with my first pay cheque had to be cut off me, so this was very thoughtful. (Though I would have been happy with a cheaper version). I actually love Valentine's Day. We get the kids little presents and we had a big family dinner last night too. I lived in North America for a bit and they go for it over there. It's a nice way to pick up the dreary time between Christmas and new year and I don't see the harm in that.

DinkBoo · 15/02/2022 06:39

Nothing here. I mainly got grumped at and ignored when he got in from work (he has an excuse, as he has tooth ache, but I am pissed off as when I am in pain I don't turn into a grumpy arse hole cough and I actually take strong enough pain killers cough maybe there is some kind of link?).

Had taken a day off work to do a major spring clean, and that passed without comment.

Vodaphone gave me 25% off just eat, so I bought us takeaway to cheer him up. Didn't work.

Oh and some fucker stole a bottle of perfume I'd ordered for my mum from an order that arrived.

Good thing my cats love me. Grin

bedheadedzombie · 15/02/2022 06:42

Chocolate. I also gave him chocolate. We like chocolate and both can't think of a gift so soon after christmas.

Scalottia · 15/02/2022 07:09

@cafenoirbiscuit

Fuck all. And then H told me to Go Away I spent hours making him something Wish I hadn’t bothered now.
Why are you still married to this person? Why do so many of you tolerate such crap partners?
Scalottia · 15/02/2022 07:17

@TracyMosby

I dont understand why SO MANY women have come on here to belittle others who do something for their partner and vice versa on valentines day. Does it make you feel good about yourselves? Stop being knobheads and scroll on.
I agree. Reeks of jealousy. The topic of the thread is so obvious, why not scroll on by rather than spew vitriol at other women for being happy?
