I got red roses that I bought myself. This is not as grim as it sounds. I bought them to decorate my business but my three year old was quite insistent they were for me and not daddy for valentine's.

I also got (from DP this time) a card, a love letter and some of my favourite chocolate.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/02/2022 22:58

A card and a steak dinner

worriedatthemoment · 14/02/2022 22:58

@3Daddy31982 well that sounds nicer than the lobster flavoured biscuit i thought you had got

saltinesandcoffeecups · 14/02/2022 23:01

A card and 3 horrible tasting cookies 🍪 from DH

We agreed nothing big for the day and we’ve both been sick. We had reservations for a nice meal out this weekend but as I was snoring in bed by 7pm all week we decided to cancel.

Our adopted dads gave us both cards and a homemade cupcake 🧁

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/02/2022 23:02
@ChiselandBits 🙄, over reaction.....

@Blue4YOU that is very selfish of him. Sorry he did that xxx
I agree

cafenoirbiscuit · 14/02/2022 23:19

Fuck all. And then H told me to Go Away
I spent hours making him something
Wish I hadn’t bothered now.

Squashfordinner · 14/02/2022 23:23

DH made a cake but it was the most stressful time watching him. He did not measure, he then put the batter into a PLASTIC container and in the oven before I reprimanded him, so then he placed it on a ceramic plate and it leaked on the oven

So a mess..my husband made me a mess for valentines. Haha

coconuthead · 14/02/2022 23:24

We bought a 58p card from Asda where we were both in there together. We both wrote in it😂 my 5 year old made me a lovely card which made me cry and we went out for dinner as a family.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 14/02/2022 23:29

A card and tickets for us to go to Harry Potter studio. We had a nice meal together at home in front of the TV once the kids were in bed. Nice and chilled

MissTrip82 · 14/02/2022 23:37

@Comedycook

Nothing because if I want to show dh I love him and vice versa we don't need permission from a load of marketing executives
Huzzah for the truth teller!

What a shame everyone who gives their partner some chocolates is so stupid and dull compared to you.

It’s sad too that participating in Valentine’s Day means you can’t ever do anything else nice, romantic or loving because your single day is all used up. We really need the law to change.

WomblingWilma · 14/02/2022 23:38

Yes, @Ionlydomassiveones I truly love my silky sexy nighties (Caroline Randall range this time). Can only afford to buy a few a year but love my bit of night time luxury. Happily DH loves them too!

baggies · 14/02/2022 23:46

We swapped cards.

RaginaPhalange · 14/02/2022 23:46

Card, Terry's chicolate orange and some date night dice (we're both so indecisive when it comes to getting time to ourselves)

RightOnTheEdge · 15/02/2022 00:00

I'm single so expected nothing and hadn't even really thought about it.

But I got a bunch of flowers from my 11year old dd that she had gone out and bought with her own money and my 9yr old ds gave me £3 from his wallet to buy myself something nice!
I was so surprised and touched! Smile

Whadda · 15/02/2022 00:10

We’re not into Valentine’s Day at all. It wasn’t part of our culture growing up, but has definitely creeped in.

My husband buys me flowers every two weeks, always leaves me lovely notes in cards he buys that he’ll think I’ll like, do I much, much prefer that than feeling like we have to do stuff just because it’s Feb 14th. I’m not in to things like teddies etc so wouldn’t appreciate them.

I do like the themed Valentine’s food and sweets at this time of the year, though. Had an M&S dine-in meal with heart-shaped churros, and bought some heart-shaped cakes at the weekend.

BashfulClam · 15/02/2022 00:14

@Garman do you mark Mother’s Day, Father’s Day etc? Those are also made up commercial shite.

Goldenbear · 15/02/2022 00:23

I think there is nothing wrong with actually marking out a day where you celebrate your relationship. It is good for us personally to have a day where it is just about us and our life together. We are really busy in day to day life so I actually do think we need these days to be marked out - in my case my DH sketched a landmark on my card that was relevant to our relationship, he does this on our anniversary but these dates provide the focus.

deeedeee · 15/02/2022 00:27

Exchanged handmade cards, got a babysitter and went out to the pub for a couple of drinks, came home a had some sex.

Goldenbear · 15/02/2022 00:29

And also, being treated respectfully all year and your DH/partner making an effort on Valentines day are not mutually exclusive. In all honesty, in our circumstances id think he was a bit lazy if he didn't bother.

Bunty55 · 15/02/2022 00:37

@Phrenologistsfinger

Nothing but we’re both forking out thousands for IVF so that’s kind of a gift to each other.
Hope it works out x x
