Some lovely flowers.... which cheered me up as I am having to isolate on my own with Covid.

@Ebananascroogey

A stark lesson that porcini mushrooms whilst being prohibitiously expensive taste like shit. A stark reminder that an unfed husband is a drunk husband when I let him loose on the wine intended for the inedible dinner. I also got a big slobbery kiss from my dog who is the true love of my life & a completely uninterrupted hour to read my book, so all round a valentines win for me i think!
😂

Not sure why the aggressively miserable can’t just be quiet about it

Not sure why the brainwashed muppets can't be quiet about it either!

Want to do something nice with £20? Give it to a charity or some crap petrol station flowers and chocs... hmmm...[/quote]
We’re not being quiet about it because that’s what the thread is about. You're on a thread that specifically asked what people got on Valentine’s Day, raging that people are talking about Valentine’s Day. Let that sink in.

And we’re ‘brainwashed muppets’ because we choose to celebrate a holiday that you don’t care for? What on Earth is the matter with you?

Concestor · 14/02/2022 22:16

A card and a bunch of flowers from Tesco.

WomblingWilma · 14/02/2022 22:17

I got two sexy nighties, two bunches of flowers (one red roses/one assorted). chocolates and a lovely card.

I do feel sorry for the women who come on these threads and similar Christmas threads pretending they’re cool with not getting anything from their partners and dismissing it as commercialised bullshit barely disguising the sour grapes.

Find a man who wants to spoil you a few times a year at least, you deserve it Flowers.

Ireolu · 14/02/2022 22:18

I actually got some earrings. They cost too much so will be sent back. Was expecting nothing. He got a chocolate bar. DD5 gave us a handmade card and wrote a message in it. Best gift ever.

ChampionOfTheSun · 14/02/2022 22:19

Nothing, me and 2yro DD did make some heart shaped cookies for when DH got in from work but that was the extent of our efforts Grin

SausageFox · 14/02/2022 22:21

Flowers (lillies and roses), my favourite chocolates (Booja Booja truffles), a card, breakfast in bed, new loose leaf tea, a book, bath bombs, fancy shower gel from LUSH that I like, perfume, and he managed to snag a lobster from the fishmonger.

I don't care if people think it's commercial rubbish. Technically there IS an interesting history to it. Either way, we celebrate all sorts in our house. Any excuse for a bit of fun, and if it's interesting then even better!

Mama1980 · 14/02/2022 22:24

A huge bunch of flowers and beautiful antique valentines card, enclosing a lovely message.
I got him nothing as I'm useless and pretty much forgot. Luckily he just laughed. Must do better though - this kind of stuff is important to him.

worriedatthemoment · 14/02/2022 22:25

@WomblingWilma but some of us generally don't care and our dh don't need a day to do these things maybe they do them spontaneously, maybe some people haven't got the finances and generally some don't give a crap

CounsellorTroi · 14/02/2022 22:28

Card, gold heart necklace, bottle of my favourite L’Occitane shower oil and a refill, chocolates. DH got a card and some posh PJs.

worriedatthemoment · 14/02/2022 22:34

@ILikeItLikeThat21 your husband knows how to treat his women , pretty sure many who got nothing husbands also know how to treat them, with dignity and respect all year
A bunch of flowers doesn't cement a relationship
Great for you , you celebrate it and git something
Many don't and are quite happy they got nothing as thats what they want

SirChenjins · 14/02/2022 22:36

Spot on.

There’s no law that says you must love Valentine’s Day, celebrate it, or even acknowledge its existence. If you want to and enjoy celebrating it, great, and if you don’t and think it’s a load of nonsense, great. Each to their own.

@TracyMosby what about those who have done the same to those that simply say we have got each other nothing as not a thing we do and been basically told there man doesn't treat the right etc
You know for some finances may mean lavish gifts are out or even small gifts or it might be a day they hate for other reasons

worriedatthemoment · 14/02/2022 22:38

Also wasn't the original idea of valentines that it was supposed to be a secret admirer ?

Workinghardeveryday · 14/02/2022 22:40

@ChiselandBits 🙄, over reaction.....

@Blue4YOU that is very selfish of him. Sorry he did that xxx

ILikeItLikeThat21 · 14/02/2022 22:40

@worriedatthemoment
My husband knows how to treat me well throughout the year. Today was just a small snippet of how he shows me.

Everyone has their own way of showing their loved one how much they love, respect and appreciate them. So @Garman
Didn't need to bring their negativity to the thread. If you know something doesn't appeal to you. Don't comment!

VodkaSodaLime · 14/02/2022 22:41

I’ve been complaining that I needed more light in my wfh space, and my husband had ordered some lights and fitted them for me today whilst I was out. Best valentines surprise ever, and I can’t say he doesn’t listen to me any more 😂

Rivering · 14/02/2022 22:42

Valentines is for 14 year olds with a crush desperately hoping they’ll get an anonymous card in their school locker so they can carry on daydreaming about crush.

Adults falling for the valentines commercial nonsense is just cringey.

We all went to the pictures tonight, with the kids, and not because it’s valentines. Much more enjoyable.

VonWeasel · 14/02/2022 22:42

A card "for my wife" with wife crossed out as we aren't married Grin, some chocolates and fizz. I also bought myself a padlock for the gate and that has been a particular highlight of Valentine's Day 2022 which I will no doubt cherish for years to come Smile

PurpleDaisies · 14/02/2022 22:43

Nothing here, which I’m very pleased about since I got dh nothing too.

headlock · 14/02/2022 22:44

A steak dinner last night. We don't really bother with gifts for Valentines

Sweetlikejollof · 14/02/2022 22:46

Rubbishing something that other people enjoy is cringey. And just odd. Why do it? What is going on in your life that makes you feel the need to be so unpleasant?
