Pizza take away and a plant Flowers

SquigglePigs · 14/02/2022 21:43

Flowers, a bottle of my favourite champagne and a Krispy Kreme donut! We generally don't bother much and just go for card and a token present so it was a bit of a surprise to get so many treats (even if he tried to apologise for being unimaginative bless him).

Then we had a friend round for dinner because it was the only night we were all free and we hadn't seen each other for ages!

It is a bit commercial but in a time when we're mad busy with small people, work etc it's nice to just make a bit of an effort to say "I love you".

hobsnobs · 14/02/2022 21:43

Dh forgot and I've been quite sad about it all day. He's never forgotten before. I'm pregnant and had my 12 week scan cancelled for the second time today and have been sad all day about that so when he turned up with no flowers or anything I broke down in tears. Taken myself off to bed as I don't want to cause an argument over an oversight. Toddler made me a card at nursery so I'll take that.

Pandora rose gold necklace and earrings set a silky soft throw with a looney tune cartoon character on it and a t shirt with the character on it

AllisoninWunderland · 14/02/2022 21:43

A set of Agent Provocateur underwear 💗
Been married a long time but it’s become a tradition this last few years. He’s got good taste actually (& always buys in the sale!)

The children got handwritten love notes from us and we cooked a special meal for all of us with a cream cake for pud 😋

A card, a new hoover, flowers, a new planner, a tub of my favourite cleansing balm, chocolate and an amazing steak dinner cooked by my DH

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 14/02/2022 21:44

Oh who gives a crap. Next you’ll be asking who got the biggest Easter egg. It’s all marketing bollocks!

TracyMosby · 14/02/2022 21:45

A ring and a lovely card. And I've fingers crossed for a massage.

SpikeySmooth · 14/02/2022 21:45

I received a card and chocolates.
I gave him nothing.

camperqueen54 · 14/02/2022 21:46

Chocks, 3 bunches of yellow roses and dinner cooked plus a card.

CanIbeRio · 14/02/2022 21:46

Card and a scratchcard....I lost! He got a bottle of gin. Lovely dinner cooked for me Saturday. Just sharing wine now ❤

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 14/02/2022 21:49

Flowers, a lovely meal. Flowers

MrsTimRiggins · 14/02/2022 21:49

Nothing, we don’t do Valentine’s Day, it’s all a bit cringey having a set day for it imo.
For those that find joy in it tho, I can’t and won’t knock it, it’s nice to spoil the one you love. To quote Brooklyn 99, [I] love love!

Sweetlikejollof · 14/02/2022 21:51

I find it hilarious when people dismiss Valentine’s Day as ‘made up nonsense’ or ‘commercial’.

As opposed to all those other days of celebration that occur naturally, in the wild, without any financial outlay. Clearly.

TracyMosby · 14/02/2022 21:55

I dont understand why SO MANY women have come on here to belittle others who do something for their partner and vice versa on valentines day. Does it make you feel good about yourselves? Stop being knobheads and scroll on.

Ebananascroogey · 14/02/2022 21:55

A stark lesson that porcini mushrooms whilst being prohibitiously expensive taste like shit. A stark reminder that an unfed husband is a drunk husband when I let him loose on the wine intended for the inedible dinner. I also got a big slobbery kiss from my dog who is the true love of my life & a completely uninterrupted hour to read my book, so all round a valentines win for me i think!

I assumed theyd be the same joyless Posters who belittle adults for celebrating birthdays.
PlanetNormal · 14/02/2022 21:57

Nothing. Same as every other year.

We don’t do Valentine’s Day, or any other commercialised bullshit-fest.

ILikeItLikeThat21 · 14/02/2022 21:59

@Garman booooo hahah. I guess you don't celebrate mothers/fathers day, Halloween or Christmas. Grin
Id be grumpy like you if I recieved nothing too. Wink

I got a beautiful bunch of flowers and pandora earrings! My husband knows how to treat his woman!
He's also taking me out tomorrow, bowling!

Sweetlikejollof · 14/02/2022 22:03

@TracyMosby Yup. Not sure why the aggressively miserable can’t just be quiet about it. They seem to really thrive on spreading the misery about.

Case in point. You could have:
  • Scrolled past the post, as it’s clearly not a topic that interests you.
  • Commented and just said ‘I didn’t get anything’ without shitting on a holiday others clearly enjoy.

Both these options were available to you. But, no. Maximum unpleasantness was your goal. Spreading the misery about.

ikeepseeingit · 14/02/2022 22:07

I got a harry potter themed 'book nook' kit and box of chocolates. Super happy with them both Grin

StormyWindow · 14/02/2022 22:08

Nothing, same as always and same as I got DH Grin We barely manage to celebrate our wedding anniversary tbh, not that we're not happy, just not at all sentimental.
