What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

@Draineddraineddrained

Counselling. Cost me a lot of money over the years but saved my sanity on several occasions.

The kids obviously!

Train travel to London. It's bloody exorbitant from my city but I'd rather roast in hell than do London traffic as a prelude to an outing.

Now can anyone help me - socks! What socks are actually worth spending money on that last? I've tried every kind from Asda multipacks to £15 per pair from Seasalt Cornwall and they all go through at the ball in about three wears!!! I'll pay any money to have a pair last more than a year like they used to!

I wear glenmuir ladies' boot socks which were from tk Maxx. I can't remember how much they cost, somewhere between 2 and 4 pounds per pair. They're thick but they have lasted So Well.

In the summer I use primark's cushioned trainer socks. They do go into holes eventually but I've been using them for 5 ish years and only lost 2 or 3 pairs so far.

Venn cleanser and all-in-one concentrate. Eye-wateringly expensive, but does what it says on the tin and has streamlined the bathroom cabinet as well as making my Clarisonic obsolete.

My Aspinal and Strathberry work bags. Beautiful, beautiful bags that brighten my work days.

My children's nursery and clothes. Spending a bit every few months to get them some nice baby Boden etc pieces fills me with joy.

Maybe drive tractor to town *@Onairjunkie* & save on expensive train fares
Good grief, no. The congestion charge is bad enough, but the traffic calming in the bridges would be prohibitive.

My rent. I love my flat so much and it's so good for my mental health to live alone somewhere decent.

Landlordworries · 13/02/2022 06:29

To those saying laser hair removal, mine is about £40 for six sessions? I'm not rich but I'd say that's quite cheap?

IggyAce · 13/02/2022 06:31

Nuxe lip balm, I won’t use anything else now.

My garden, absolutely worth buying this house for the garden and absolutely worth the money spent on it for the enjoyment we get daily (even in winter)

user1471484795 · 13/02/2022 06:36

My i22 incline treadmill from nordiktrack. Eye wateringly expensive. But have given me from never exercising to running/walking on it daily. Am the fittest I have ever been now at nearly 50. And with iFit I get to travel the world from my treadmill. Have so far done a series on Egypt and currently touring italy from my bedroom. Life changing.

@Pluvia

Camper van. Not an expensive one: already nine years old when we bought it and still going 13 years later. Even a single night away, parked up with a beautiful view and peace and quiet, feels like a little holiday. We've had wonderful cheap weeks and fortnights away to places we'd never have gone if it had involved hotels. We've been able to park up and attend parties and not had to have a taxi home afterwards.

Fantastic days at the beach, with a private place to change and shower and have a nap. Extra accommodation if we invite too many people to stay. Office accommodation during lockdown. We've lent it to others so they can have family to stay, too.

Best thing of all is that even after all this time, it's only worth around £3k less than we paid for it!

@Pluvia can I ask what kind of camper and how expensive was it?
