What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

Expensive shower gel. It makes me feel special in the morning and quite indulgent.

(I just went into the ensuite which I am sharing with the kids due to a leak in their bathroom. It smelled gorgeous. So my brain spun and tried to work out why. Then I realised they are using my Xmas bottle of shower gel that was a treat to myself. The first one in ages as I've been using bars of soap to make better environmental choices. Needless to say it's half a bottle lighter after 3 kids have had showers. Good job I love them!! But I have hidden it now....)

I spent a few days in Edinburgh last year and got the taste for lorne (square) sausage. You can't get it anywhere in my area. Donald Russell the online butcher does it but they charge £2 per pack...and £10 p&p. (Free p&p kicks in at £50). So I pay way over the odds for lorne sausage. I order other bits like bacon and sausages but I rarely make that £50 minimum, damn them. I am a mug.

My 2 beautiful children 💙💙
Baby that needs new stuff every week it seems & a teenager than eats me out of house & home & his clubs cost me a bomb!

AnotherMansCause · 12/02/2022 22:46

A good winter coat. My first was a Seasalt - a revelation as it was waterproof even in the heaviest of torrential downpours. Had it at least 8 years & it's still in great condition. Treated myself to a Didrikson last year though, & it's considerably warmer (& just as waterproof). Both are machine washable. DD now has the Seasalt as she's naturally much warmer than me...

I second the poster who said good yarn. I can't afford to buy expensive jumpers but I can now make them, I just keep an eye open for good yarn on offer. DH & DD can't wear wool though, so it's all for me! Grin

Childcare - £1000+ a month (and that was more than 5 years ago) but the best thing I could do for my mental health and career. Completely an investment in my future, I just didn't appreciate it at the time
