What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

Cashmere jumpers.
It’s taken me 35 years to realise that a jumper can be warm, soft and it doesn’t have to make me sweaty.

Saddlesore · 12/02/2022 23:50

Getting my oven professionally cleaned every 6 months. Worth every penny.

BashfulClam · 12/02/2022 23:54

Decent shoes/boots. I could only afford cheap shoes etc and my feet were always uncomfortable and got wet in bad weather. Now I can afford better shoes and boots and it’s amazing to be dry and comfortable.

linchinton · 12/02/2022 23:54
@NFLwidow I love it. You need two treatments, four weeks apart for the full effect. Your skin feels bouncy and full and so hydrated. It just looks better. Any fine lines and loss of laxity is massively improved, too. It’s punchy but I’ll be having biennial top ups.
How punchy are we talking? £2k?

Short holidays. Being away is brilliant.
Cashmere. Just so easy to wear.
Botox. Easy fix for those of us that haven’t got a poker face.

The Clearview log-burner that we had installed 12 years ago. It was 3 times the price of some of the other makes that we could have bought, but we've never regretted our choice. I'm glad we didn't settle for a cheap one. Worth every penny.

My teeth. Took 18 months to correct years of neglect.
@Furries Which heated throw, please? I’m in the market for one
Hopefully the below link works. Mine is charcoal grey, but otherwise it’s the same one. Had it 3 years now and I rarely have the heating on in the evenings as I’m under this on the sofa. My cat also thinks it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought.

Dyson hair dryer, use it virtually daily.

Holidays for the kids Disney, Universal & Lapland …. Memories forever … priceless.

Cashmere hoodie from Teacup and Tova … seems very extravagant but I wear it with everything, smart and casual and I’m now hooked.

Fake individual eyelashes every 3 weeks at a salon … much better than mascara.

It isn't mega expensive as it was "only" £45 but a decent quality fountain pen.

A prime lens for my camera - the better the lens, the clearer and sharper the photograph.

A computer with enough processing power and memory to run Photoshop without it either crashing all the time or taking ages to do anything.

AutomaticMoon · 13/02/2022 00:13

@Furries Thank you so much, link works Smile

Furries · 13/02/2022 00:17

@AutomaticMoon - great. It should help keep your one giant toe warm 😂

Level 1 & 2 courses in Plumbing, joinery, tiling and bricklaying.
There were no places available at all in local colleges for years, so I did them at a crammer private building college in Bradford and stayed over doing intensive courses. All done in 3 months instead of 3 years.

It cost over £2500 but worth twice that. I have already saved that in being able to do repairs for myself and neighbours. Plumbers here charge £150 per hour, I found out today when my mother rang one (and forgot I could do it)

Cattenberg · 13/02/2022 00:26

Having a facial at Thermae Bath Spa. It took away all of my wrinkles - I couldn’t believe it! Admittedly, this effect only lasted 24 hours, but it made me feel great to know that was possible.

A holiday to Bhutan, an expensive but stunningly beautiful country.
