What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

Yes you detailed it
Time to get back on track

Yes to 5 star hotels! Even the drop to 4 star is striking

Benjispruce5 · 15/02/2022 16:56

I did what? Hmm

@Toanewstart23, it’s more likely to get back on track if you withdraw your accusation of lying, because that kind of behaviour is a pretty significant derailment.

Benjispruce5 · 15/02/2022 17:08

I have no idea what’s going on now!

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 15/02/2022 17:13

I think you got caught in the crossfire, @benjispruce5! It was me @Toanewstart was accusing of derailing the thread.

Toanewstart23 · 15/02/2022 17:16

@Benjispruce5

I did what? Hmm
Absolutely nothing A few of us said private education and @notwavingbutdrowning5 pounced
Toanewstart23 · 15/02/2022 17:17

But she’s apologised to the OP
So we can move on!

Benjispruce5 · 15/02/2022 17:19

Ah ok. I’ll stand down.

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 15/02/2022 17:22

'Pounced', says the poster who rooted around trying to find out where my kids go to university, made insinuations about my supposed 'lifestyle' and then accused me of lying.

I would hardly say it was me who pounced

Jjjaaakkk · 15/02/2022 17:25

Omg! Enough!

Benjispruce5 · 15/02/2022 17:26

Have to say I agree @notwavingbutdrowning5.

LilyMumsnet · 15/02/2022 17:29

Hey folks, can we have a bit of peace and love please?

BigSkies22 · 15/02/2022 17:33

Blimey. OP, this started as a fun thread which is now nearly full. If you decide to continue it/start another, maybe add a note that expressing an opinion about what you have found worthwhile spending money on is not an open invitation to others to come on and shout, "your choice is just WRONG and makes you a BAD person,'??

Something I have not yet purchased, but am hoping it will prove worthwhile, is treatment to remove varicose veins and thread veins. I think it will cost about £2500. It's not available on the NHS (so I'm jumping no queues!) and it's absolutely about vanity - I'm hoping my legs will look better in summer dresses. Has anyone any experience of this?

Jjjaaakkk · 15/02/2022 17:41

Sooo amazingly worth it

HarrietsweetHarriet · 15/02/2022 17:46

@CaveMum - glad to be of help! You got a great bargain for £60 - I thought I'd done well £100 instead of £150 at the time. It's seen me through so much....endless hours of winter train commuting, freezing platforms / lovely breezy winter beach and hilly walks. It's like a wearable comfort blanket.
I hope you're really happy with yours when it arrives.
(PS dinner tonight was soup, not toasted moggy!!).

mrsfeatherbottom · 15/02/2022 17:51

Heated steering wheel.

Cashmere bed socks from White Company. So soft and stay on but easy to kick off when my feet get too hot.

Not heated steering wheel But have a fluffy steering wheel cover, which I wouldn’t be without

No, but a friend of mine had it done and was very pleased with the result.

Totally take your point about summer dresses. Every year as I age, I have to cover up a bit more. In a few year's time, I expect to be wrapped up like a mummy in summer.

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 15/02/2022 18:23

*years

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 15/02/2022 18:24

Aaargh. *Years' time

KatharinaRosalie · 15/02/2022 18:26

Eyelid surgery was flipping brilliant, I don't look tired all the time any more.

I did it 15 years ago on my legs on a groupon deal!

Unbelievable. Still completely gone. Recommend

mamabear715 · 15/02/2022 18:35

@KatherinaRosalie that sounds amazing.. I don't know if I'd have the money or the courage, tbh, how much is it? My eyes are like little raisins now..
