What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

My horses vet bill. It will be worth every penny if they can save his sight.

@MorningStarling

A good knife. Spending £30+ on a knife sounds ridiculous when you can get one from Poundland but a good knife lasts. Use it for cooking today, use it for survival when the shit hits the fan and there are no longer functioning shops.

That's not to say there's no place for cheap knives, it's good to have a few around that you don't care about losing or breaking, but a sturdy full tang blade is essential.

We recently spent a small fortune on a set of 3 knives and a sharpener, I am in my 50s and have never spent that much before on knives, OMG what a difference it makes to food prep!

That and £155 on a large shallow cast iron casserole from Denby. (Tesco Clubcard meant it was only £50 in vouchers so not actually that expensive)

My teeth!
paid to get my metal fillings changed to white. Cost a great deal but after being ill I had it in my brain it would make me worse. Paid for one at a time. Plus one veneer and one crown, could have got my bathroom done for the same price. But feel and look better so worth it

Air conditioning. We had it installed last spring and it has been worth every penny (and it cost a fair few!). They heat as well as cool so we’ve barely put on the central heating this winter

"Expensive" is relative to what you can afford

Bebs677 · 14/02/2022 17:43

Skiing holidays. Eye wateringly expensive but my god you know you're alive!

SonicBroom · 14/02/2022 17:46

Cleaner, housekeeper, gardener, nanny. Not necessarily all at once.

Rachand23 · 14/02/2022 17:46

Cruise holidays - so much better than the coastas which I now hate, they are all rubbish hotels, with rubbish food, rubbish rude service, rubbish entertainment and the view is the same everyday (married to a Spaniard so have had to put up with them for 40+ years). Give me a cruise any day!

Do people other than the super super wealthy have “house keepers”?

Sweaty Betty power leggings!
Molton Brown products.
Not necessarily 'expensive' but definitely don't buy cheap bras.
Buy cheap and you buy twice.
