What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

Weekly cleaner. Looking to upgrade to a housekeeper when I eventually complete on a new house, and know it'll be 100% worth it.

BobHadBitchTits · 13/02/2022 17:32

My air conditioning unit was £300 but was a life saver last year.

Brainwave89 · 13/02/2022 17:36

My Brompton foldable bicycle. The ultimate in freedom for getting around in a city and so much fun.

MangoLipstick · 13/02/2022 17:38

Our DC Grin - it goes without saying really.

Super King sized bed and mattress - I’ve never slept so well & there’s so much room for our toddler to climb in with us too!

Our garden and all the plants/cherry trees - it’s our mini paradise

Holidays/mini breaks

Facials - I get one once a month, it’s my only indulgence really ( that and good skincare) my skin has never looked so good.

EnglishMcSwedeFace · 13/02/2022 17:38

My cleaner. I hate cleaning but also hate having a messy dirty house. I've told my husband before that if I had to choose between him and our cleaner he'd be packing his bags.

An emmaljunga pram. Our surprise baby is 4 weeks old and has already been dragged here, there and everywhere in the pram where he stays cosy and warm while I freeze cheering my 11 year old on the ice rink or take my 13 year old for long walks to help his anxiety.

My cats. Stupid Cat has needed multiple vet visits because she cannot always understand what is and isn't food and Bastard Cat has needed multiple vet visits because he loves to get into fights.

Fortnightly massages.

XelaM · 13/02/2022 17:42

My daughter's pony. Soooo expensive 🙈 but it's a nice hobby to have and daughter spends a lot of her free time outdoors instead of in front of a screen

FastFood · 13/02/2022 17:46

Sessions in a floating tank.
Going there twice a month and it replaces therapy for me.

Shuttheblinds · 13/02/2022 17:46
@Furries have a look at happy fluffy cloud duvets, although expensive they are seriously a game changer.
Where do you buy them from?

LaughingCat · 13/02/2022 17:47

Only expensive compared to the raw material but microwaveable rice. Morrison’s own brand of brown basmati and quinoa is 69p for 2 servings but only being 120 seconds to perfectly fluffy rice is a dinner lifesaver. Well worth being treble the price of uncooked rice!

Gods, I’m boring. Young me was sure I’d have a classic Corvette and some bling by now 😂

Mary46 · 13/02/2022 17:48

Laser hair removal def worth it. Good handbag as will last.

CovidCurious · 13/02/2022 17:49

Recovapro massage gun. Cheaper than Theragun (but only a bit) and pretty much the same spec as far as I can tell. Just a different shape.

Private healthcare

Nailsbythesea · 13/02/2022 17:52

My horses and my dogs.

Decent sunglasses.

Some mugs I really really wanted and use every day.

Likewise for a kettle.

Spending money on memories not stuff.

I offered my children the latest iPhone etc for Christmas or a smaller present and memories! They chose the latter. So £20 for Xmas day and then I’ve taken one to Harry Potter world (other doesn’t like hp) one paddle boarding for the day (again other one doesn’t fancy it) a swimming course for one and a painting course for the other etc we call it investing in ourselves.
Have just returned from all day course with eldest foraging and cooking our own stuff and she cried on the way home and say I love these days and I’m learning so much as well
As having time on my own with you.

Next week we have a light festival to go to at night and various other stuff planned for half term. This is also our holiday money from 2020 and 2021 but we are using it to learn stuff and both kids are loving it on top of their normal hobbies

undersleptagain · 13/02/2022 17:52

Vispring mattress, you can't beat a comfy bed - worth every penny.

MischievousBiscuits · 13/02/2022 17:55

Ann Summers lingerie. Some of the prices make my eyes water but I feel so sexy in them.
Smashbox makeup.
I'm nut OK cheese - it's an artisan vegan range
Drops of Youth by the Bodyshop

TrueBuys · 13/02/2022 17:56

I bought a brand new car a couple of years ago having limped around in quite old second hand ones for years. The new one has been fantastic (as it should be). No repairs needed, no issues, peace of mind.

Usererror1999 · 13/02/2022 17:57

@SpikeySmooth why don’t you just buy £50 worth and then freeze it?
