What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

@70isaLimitNotaTarget DH love the black pepper MB shower gel. He’s tried M&S and other versions but nothing stays on the skin as long.

@SpikeySmooth

I spent a few days in Edinburgh last year and got the taste for lorne (square) sausage. You can't get it anywhere in my area. Donald Russell the online butcher does it but they charge £2 per pack...and £10 p&p. (Free p&p kicks in at £50). So I pay way over the odds for lorne sausage. I order other bits like bacon and sausages but I rarely make that £50 minimum, damn them. I am a mug.
My cousin now lives down south and misses some Scottish food so he makes his own lorne sausage, tattie scones, scotch pies, scotch dumpling etc and says they are all really easy once you have done them a couple of times.

Lorne sausage is basically minced beef and pork, breadcrumbs or rusk, corriander, water and seasoning. I havent made it myself but his are really tasty. Minced beef (30% fat) only and you get a steak sliced sausage.

Pure Eiderdown duvet and pillows.
An extremely generous gift. Hideously, hideously expensive but nothing comes close to sleeping under one. Very much super rich luxury!

My lovely house is expensive for this area. But for what it cost in parts of London it wouldn't get you anything comparable or even a flat.

Youaremypenguin · 13/02/2022 12:49

Physiotherapy, Counseling, my beautiful pets, my kids, our treat yellow sticker family dinners from m&s (1 weekend a month for all the family and a bought film to stream).

I like my perfum, Clarins body creams and Rituals nice smells.

We don't do expensive holidays, flash cars, meals out, take aways. I rarely buy new clothes but when I do I got for sustainable, in the sale.

We're about to redo our kitchen and I'm hoping it will be our best family purchase since buying our house.

Made-to-measure knee high boots. The only ones I've ever had that fit well. I wear them nearly every day.

I spent a silly amount on an ice-cream scoop after a supermarket one broke the first time I used it. It sparks joy when I use it!

Miele hoover. Sooo much better than the useless Dyson.

I actually think my wedding was worth the money. Priceless memories of all my loved ones together that will probably never happen again.

5 pairs of curtains that have coated about £5000. Dining chairs also a small fortune. everything bespoke and looks the business. Burglars can steel anything in the house but not the curtains or chairs!

ViSpring Luxe mattress. Was (way) over our original budget for a mattress but SO glad we invested! 8 years in and still perfect. When it’s time for a new one I will absolutely get another ViSpring 👍
I second that! Incredibly comfortable.

Ours got eaten by moths when we had stored it in a spare room of a furnished house we rented for a short period.

It must have been a treat for the critters, with all the natural fibres that goes into making them. It was so infested that we had to chuck it.

We bought it pre kids and sadly have not felt we could spend so much money on a mattress after having kids😩

One particular brand of rhubarb scented body stuff, handwash, cream, shower gel etc. It all costs more than I want to pay but smells divine.

T00Ts · 13/02/2022 13:42

Anyone else having a lovely time Googling all the things we all splurge on? I am. Some fairly aspirational purchases among the list!

And I’ve bought 2ml of Revitalash because my lashes are a disgrace and you’ve all convinced me. Face The Future have 20% off online, FYI.
