What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

A very good raincoat, cashmere socks, a Robohoover, very good bras, Paula's Choice skin products and an elliptical

Auntieobem · 13/02/2022 10:52

Bean to cup coffee machine

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 13/02/2022 10:53

Both of the cars my husband and I own - a 2017 Skoda Yeti and a 2015 Suzuki Vitara SZ5.

Both appear to have risen in value since we bought them.

Starlia · 13/02/2022 10:53

Four4me · 13/02/2022 10:59

RevitaLash eyelash serum.

Starlia · 13/02/2022 10:59

Oh forgot Dermasweep!

RussianSpy101 · 13/02/2022 11:05

@Four4me I’m so happy to see this on here. I’ve been considering this for a while as I currently get my lashes done every 3 weeks but I’ve heard great things about this!

And I enjoy my job!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/02/2022 11:11

RevitaLash eyelash serum

Oh yes .
I don't use the eyelash one ( though I bought some for DD . She tried the UK Lash but it irritated her eyes ) I really like the Brow serum.
I was going to splash out on micro blading but changed my mind so i 'm going to buy the brow one again.

Panasonic BreadMaker - fabulous . I scorn the pre-made bread in the supermarket now ..

itsmeagainagain · 13/02/2022 11:15

So did I!! 😂

ScrollingLeaves · 13/02/2022 11:15

A very good education.

The government needs to spend more on it - if you see what GDST day schools ask in fees, given they charge the minimum they feel they can do as to encourage access, this gives a clue as to the real amount needed per child ( bearing in mind these fees are also used for buildings etc for GDST) Money alone is not enough though.

@itsmeagainagain

So did I!! 😂
Sorry that makes no sense! Was trying to quote the proper butter read as proper butler 😂

@Draineddraineddrained

Counselling. Cost me a lot of money over the years but saved my sanity on several occasions.

The kids obviously!

Train travel to London. It's bloody exorbitant from my city but I'd rather roast in hell than do London traffic as a prelude to an outing.

Now can anyone help me - socks! What socks are actually worth spending money on that last? I've tried every kind from Asda multipacks to £15 per pair from Seasalt Cornwall and they all go through at the ball in about three wears!!! I'll pay any money to have a pair last more than a year like they used to!

@Draineddraineddrained bamboo socks from Thought clothing last well as long as you don't tumble dry them!

If you go on the website there is a 10% code.
I buy it from our local opticians. I had a bad experience with lash extensions, blob of glue on the eye! So never again.
I get lots of compliments on my lashes. I use it each night and find the bottle lasts lots longer than the box says. I'm sure if I stop they'll quickly go back to normal.
@boombastic22 yes I am real, I realise I am very lucky and I don't take anything for granted. We have made our own money and had no family help.

I have just been on the 'regrets' thread and feel very sad that there is a lot of misery that people have to live with day by day.

I work in mental health and I believe that good mental health is more important than all the material things in the world put together.

If you find it difficult to appreciate a sunny day, a smile, a warm pair of slippers and take for granted lovely people and friends then it doesn't matter how rich or poor you are, your life will be coloured by negativity.

Having positive mental health is so invaluable because it allows you to dream and if you don't have a dream how can a dream come true.

When I was little our family life was very sad and tragic ( my brother took his own life) and it was shadowed by my parents' poor mental health.

I knew from an early age I needed to make decisions in life that would have a positive impact on me.

So I kept to that path, always looking forward to tomorrow if the day or the past had been crap. Happy, positive people were like radiators to me and I was inspired by kindness.

I avoided toxic people probably because I had developed an allergy to them by being uncomfortable around them.

I am inspired by 80- 100 year old marathon runners, gymnasts and athletes and want to be like them one day.

A positive mental outlook is priceless.
Love this 😍

Theredjellybean · 13/02/2022 11:23

My dsd's private medical treatment. Her recovery has been one of most expensive but one of the most worthwhile things I have ever bought.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat without giving it a moments thought.

balzamico · 13/02/2022 11:23

Dubarry leather boots
Revitalash - cost £100 but the first tube is still going strong after over 12 months and my lashes are transformed
Dyson airwrap
Eufy robot hoover
Skiing - hideously expensive but it gives me such joy I'd go without a lot to be able to go

missfliss · 13/02/2022 11:27

House near the sea ( I sea swim nearly every day ) and near school, shops / cafes and a city 3 miles away ( Brighton) for all those amenities

Dry robe or similar ( see sea swimming above)

British blue shorthair cat ( she's gorgeous, soft, affectionate and patient with my autistic son)

SEND advocate - worth every penny to get our sons needs recognised and into a specialist placement.

Super king bed

Heated airer ( saving on energy bills)

Good camping kit ( affordable holidays for years)

Brita water filter and cartridges ( makes tea and coffee so much nicer)

Fairfax and favour boudicca boots

Profhilo ( can't afford at the mo)

Proper hot tub. Use it daily

HPLikecraft · 13/02/2022 11:32

I'm a bit of a skinflint, but I'm glad I splashed out on:

My wonderful dog
Big house in nice village
Expensive mattress and bedding
A wool and cashmere coat that's lasted years

RussianSpy101 · 13/02/2022 11:34
