What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

Agree with CouncellorTroi re Iguazu. It was the most expensive trip we ever did, as it included a cruise round Cape Horn from Valparaiso in Chile to Buenos Aires, but totally jaw droppingly amazing.
Holidays
Gym membership
Laser Eye surgery. Has saved me thousands in new specs and contact lenses. Transformed swimming and snorkelling too.

Well I have bought RDJs autograph but I am still waiting for it to be shipped from the USA, it cost £861 in total, I pre ordered it in september, he was doing loads of signings and the money goes to The Footprint Coalition (his charity thing that gives cash to green start up companies).

I’m not materialistic, but I saved for over a year for a LV handbag and it’s my most favourite and expensive item. I treasure it.
I also had Botox and my lips done once which cost a lot and I couldn’t believe how much I loved it.
Also a flower subscription every month. I love having flowers in the house.

Letsbekindplease · 13/02/2022 08:27

Oh and laser eye surgery! It changed my life!

Bunce1 · 13/02/2022 08:28

@notsohippychick

My hair extensions. I have very fine hair and they make it look thick and luscious. No one ever knows it’s fake!
I’d love to know where/what drab of extensions you have @notsohippychick please

How does it empty itself?!

DancingQueen2018 · 13/02/2022 08:30

Tickets to Cabaret. The show was absolutely incredible and worth every penny.

Phrenologistsfinger · 13/02/2022 08:30

Oh and May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon - it’s silly money but is the only thing that helps my sore red flaky skin on my face and lasts AGES.

Tulipomania · 13/02/2022 08:31

My De Longhi bean to cup coffee machine.

MrsJamin · 13/02/2022 08:32

Air source heat pump. (No need for a gas boiler. It's just nicely warm the whole time)
Detached house (listening to music as loud as you like is everything).

Phrenologistsfinger · 13/02/2022 08:34

@Toanewstart23 it has a suction base unit thing it plugs into with a hoover bag inside. Sucks the stuff out of the roomba when it gets full. Obviously you still change the hoover bag but that isn’t too often.

Boombastic22 · 13/02/2022 08:34

Is @Tarne real ?!!!

Independent midwives for DCs 2 & 3. Floris perfume.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/02/2022 08:36

Cleaner
Good quality outdoor coats and footwear
Decent skincare products, I'm particularly a fan of medik8 and Sunday Riley. Though expensive doesn't always mean effective/quality.

Ursusmajor · 13/02/2022 08:36

Yoyo pushchair There’s no lift in our building and nowhere to store it downstairs. Most days I carry it downstairs over my shoulder, sometimes holding toddlers hand as she negotiates the multiple flights of stairs, sometimes I am carrying an unhappy tantrumming toddler and the pushchair. I think we would have had to move flats without it.
Good shoes. I spend money on comfortable shoes that fit well and support my feet. I only really wear 3-4 different pairs regularly in any given year (winter boots, summer sandals, trainers and pre-covid a smarter pair of loafers for work) but I am more than happy to spend £100 or more on a pair that do what I need. I probably buy 2 pairs a year. I buy my toddler one good pair of shoes at a time, and add a pair of wellies cheap or 2nd hand. Family history of foot problems means I’m willing to sacrifice in other areas to make sure she and I have shoes that flex in the right places and support our ankles. I’ll never buy her supermarket cheap shoes for anything other than very occasional use.

@Hairbrush123

Oh I forgot bedding and my mattress! Splurged £100s for Egyptian cotton sheets with a very high thread count, Hungarian goose pillows and duvet and now even staying in 5* hotels - I miss my bedding at home.

Again splurged on a mattress and I always look forward going into bed.

We do so much during the day we deserve a beautiful place to rest our heads when re charging 👍😂

A prehistoric tortoise cast in bronze, that I found - for the 2nd year running - outside a little metal worker’s shop in France.

The most eye-wateringly extravagant purchase I’ve ever made but I love him and he’s very happy in our garden.

I suspect that the metal-worker priced him so high because she really didn’t want to part with him.
