13 year old boy wished my 3 year old dead

My daughter was on a group chat with her friends from the middle school and someone invited their brother in who is 13, she knows this boy as she’s been to her friends house many times, he heard my 3 year old in the background playing and he said I wish he would shut up and die. I’m furious a 13 year old would say this, he’s then claimed it was a joke! Iv told my daughter she’s not going to this house anymore, their mother wasn’t home at the time she leaves them home alone when she’s at work and leaves the 13 year old to look after the younger child. I’m so annoyed. AIBU? is it just a child’s silly joke and nothing to take to heart?

How old is your child / the other children who were meant to be in the chat? I'm assuming they're younger. There's a reason why chat rooms aren't meant for children.
The 13 year old wasn't likely being malicious, just immature and showing off to his kid sisters' friends. But it's not appropriate for him to be in the chat, especially saying things like this which will upset others who are young enough to take his word literally. Primary school age kids shouldn't be left in chat rooms for this exact reason.

He didn't wish your child dead!

What an over reaction

It's not a nice phrase, but kids test what is (not) acceptable. When I was 13, the phrase was "F off and die"

It's the nature of 13 year old boys to say stupid stuff to try and impress their mates and younger kids. Ignore.

One child "threatened " to kill himself if another child did not open a pack of fifa cards - i have no idea if other child did or did not open the pack but am also not sat here concerned about his mates Mh..
