Mine is a famous quote;

People don’t remember what you say
People don’t remember what you do
But people always remember the way you made them feel

@Isausernameavailable

Inside leg to outside hand
I don't get it!
Thevalley · 12/02/2022 19:29

Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves

Will it matter in a years time? No, then its not worth worrying about

NotRainingToday · 12/02/2022 19:32

@Anotherhill

Lefty loosy, righty tighty. Said to me on an expensive professional training course, and literally the only thing I learnt that day that I have used since.
What does it mean?
Really18 · 12/02/2022 19:34

Stop trying to be perfect. You will always feel inadequate. Be satisfied with being happy and good enough.

Bessiebigpants · 12/02/2022 19:37

My Mum “Bessie, you make damn sure you can support any children you have don’t you rely on any man for your money”
Standing over a knackered twin tub that gave her intermittent electric shocks!

MargotMoon · 12/02/2022 19:38

Always do the thing you are dreading most, first.

Doing the easy thing is rarely the same as doing the right thing.

Both said by me Grin and mantras I try to live my life by.

Squaddielife · 12/02/2022 19:39

@apapuchi

Comparison is the thief of joy.
This 100%

And

"Pick your battles"

PangolinPie · 12/02/2022 19:40

What on earth is the lefty loosy, righty tighty thing!?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/02/2022 19:40

no one thinks your children/dog/add as appropriate are as cute as you think they are

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/02/2022 19:41

@PangolinPie

What on earth is the lefty loosy, righty tighty thing!?
it is how to turn a screw/jar/lightbulb/anything

you can not live without this knowledge

zippygeorgebungle · 12/02/2022 19:42

This was excellent advice, Bessie. My mum gave me that advice too and I tell my own girls the same thing. It has served me very well!

MargotMoon · 12/02/2022 19:43

@Isausernameavailable

Inside leg to outside hand

What the fudge does this mean??

PangolinPie · 12/02/2022 19:44

Ah thank you!!!!

PangolinPie · 12/02/2022 19:44

Sorry was to @mumsiedarlingrevolta

Bethany7 · 12/02/2022 19:45

Be with a man who knows what he has when he has you.

MargotMoon · 12/02/2022 19:46

Oh, and:

Everything will be alright in the end - and if it's not alright, it's not the end.

Remembering the righty tighty thing is very useful if you are disassembling flat pack furniture, as I discovered recently

electricdreamm · 12/02/2022 19:47

The BEST advice I've ever heard...when someone is rude or short with you, it's not you, it's just a reflection of how they're feeling inside, so feel sorry for them, not hate them!

IWasWillingToGoWassailing · 12/02/2022 19:48

If you have to ask the question, the answer is probably no! This works for almost everything, from "do I want to get married?" to "is the collar of my shirt properly dry yet?".

And from my Dad: it'll all be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end.

itrytomakemyway · 12/02/2022 19:49

You have enough money in the bank to tell work to shove it.

DuesToTheDirt · 12/02/2022 19:51

Inside leg to outside hand is what you do when riding a horse in an arena. Bit niche, and I don't think it's that useful for very many people!

Luxecalmeetvolupte · 12/02/2022 19:59

Never apologise, never explain.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 12/02/2022 20:03

This too will pass.

OmgIThinkILikeYou · 12/02/2022 20:04

Done compare your private life to someone else's public one.

IcedPurple · 12/02/2022 20:05

@Luxecalmeetvolupte

Never apologise, never explain.
That doesn't sound like very good advice.
Moonface123 · 12/02/2022 20:05

Self care is hardest to do when you need it the most.
You either win or you learn.
