Mine is a famous quote;

People don’t remember what you say
People don’t remember what you do
But people always remember the way you made them feel

'if a job' s worth doing, it's worth doing badly'

A bit of twist on a classic that was said to me. I've taken it and run with it, literally. I'm so bad at running, but it keeps me fit, gives me a buzz (afterwards) and I've met some great people.

It has translated to many areas though. There is stuff I really enjoy that I'm not very good at, but I still get a lot out of it. The same for the DCs too.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
So true.

Worry about the things you can change, let go of the things you cant.

If in doubt, go without (buying things mainly)

Many a true word said in jest (also very true)

LatteLady · 11/02/2022 22:06

You don't like everyone, so don't expect everyone to like you.

PuntasticUsername · 11/02/2022 22:09

Work harder on your strengths than you do on your weaknesses. You can (and should) get your weaknesses up to "just-about competent"; but further effort beyond that, is likely pointless. Work on your strengths instead, as that's where putting in the extra effort will make you truly excel.

Silverswirl · 11/02/2022 22:09

Oh and my favourite one:
If everyone’s troubles were put in a pile, most people would pick their own.

apapuchi · 11/02/2022 22:11

Comparison is the thief of joy.

etulosba · 11/02/2022 22:15

Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow because tomorrow you might not have to do it.

Homer Simpson's 3 Top Tips for success at work.

"Cover for me."

"Great idea boss."

"It was like that when I got here."

Pillage, then burn.

If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it

A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go

Failure is not an option - it is mandatory. The option is whether or not to let failure be the last thing you do

Don’t wrestle with a pig, you’ll both get dirty and the pig will enjoy it.

Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds nought and six, result misery

Enjoy yourself. We’re here for a good time, not a long time.

LongLive89 · 11/02/2022 22:23

Never take advice from people who lie to themselves.

So apt.

ChirpyChirp · 11/02/2022 22:23

The right relationship will feel easy and make you happy.

My mum told me this when I was agonising over a bad relationship. She was right. I split up with the guy and met my DH soon after. Even in hard times our relationship has felt easy. And we're still happy!

Diversion · 11/02/2022 22:24

Never go to sleep on an argument - courtesy of my Granny who was a very wise woman and who was married to my Grandad for 63 years

Ralphiemia · 11/02/2022 22:26

Your children won’t remember that you didn’t have time to iron their pyjamas, but they will remember that you made time to read to them before bed.

ChocAuVin · 11/02/2022 22:28

Never wrestle with a pig.

You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

BloomingTrees · 11/02/2022 22:30

A life lived in fear is a life half lived.

declutteringmymind · 11/02/2022 22:30

You can't argue with stupid.

NewbieDivergent · 11/02/2022 22:30

Dont trouble trouble until trouble troubles you.

Applesonthelawn · 11/02/2022 22:31

Choose your battles.

The only boss you need to worry about is the insecure one. The incompetent boss is easily manageable.

Echobelly · 11/02/2022 22:31

Worrying about something that hasn't happened won't help - and if the worst does happen you'll just have lived through it multiple times as well

Applesonthelawn · 11/02/2022 22:32

Always keep your financial independence.

Starlightandsparkles · 11/02/2022 22:35

If you have something of value, take it out in your trouser pockets
After all,it would be one hell of an emergency where you’d lose your trousers

Never give a baby the spoon too early

Kids want what is in front of them-it doesn’t matter if it’s the most expensive theme park in the world or the local park

Pick your battles wisely in all areas of life

Always leave a sleeping baby to sleep

All pearls from my dad who doesn’t know one end of a baby from the other

wheresmyshoe · 11/02/2022 22:35

Never be beholden to a man.

Love is kind.

Don't spend money you haven't got to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't like.
