How many takeaways?!

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

Maybe once every 3 weeks and that would be a chippy. I grudge the cost of takeaways when you can get similar from supermarkets.

GrandRapids · 11/02/2022 09:51

Used to be 2-3 times a week.

Now cut right down to about twice a month, always get pizza.

Needsomethingtoread · 11/02/2022 09:51

Fish and chips every 3/4 months ish.

Don’t enjoy takeaways, too salty and greasy and I end up feeling sickly afterwards

CharlotteRose90 · 11/02/2022 09:52

One every few weeks I think. I feel their a waste of money and half the time my ibs flares up afterwards so it’s really enjoyable. Rather go out for a meal.

Itsalmostanaccessory · 11/02/2022 09:52

@MorningStarling

Pre-Covid maybe every three months or so. Since Covid I've not had one, it's an unnecessary risk.
Hmm
SarahBellam · 11/02/2022 09:53

About 2-3 times a month. We usually get one to share but with a few starters - so onion bahjis, chicken pakora, a chicken jalfrezi and a pilau rice.

Redsquirrel5 · 11/02/2022 09:53

Less than one a month. They don’t deliver to where we live so it means driving 5/6 miles to get it. I sometimes bring fish and chips home after Friday Mass. DH goes for an occasional Chinese takeaway and sometimes we have a curry. I am a good cook so I can make Chinese and curry meals. We do eat out at the village pub sometimes as it is very close and we want to support them. 😆Use it or lose it!

AiryFairy1 · 11/02/2022 09:53

DH and I used to have 1-2 a week, but now the kids are a bit older and super-fussy, so that limits our choices, and then quite often it's very disappointing AND expensive (looking at you, GBK)...so often it's easier and cheaper to make our own "fake-aways".

Even though I'm sick to death of meal prep and often I get to Friday and go "oh yes we still need to eat at the weekend" Hmm

Chewbecca · 11/02/2022 09:54

Minimum once a week. This week only once but we ate out twice so that's why!

AuntieMarys · 11/02/2022 09:54

None. But we eat out at least half a dozen times a month

I never understand this comment. When I used the live in the city, a take away was the same quality as eating out. You just picked it up from the restaurant instead of eating in. It could be super healthy, really fancy or it could just be fried comfort food.

Why does everyone always think take away means greasy food from a hole in the wall?

HeyItsPickleRick · 11/02/2022 09:54

About once or twice a fortnight. I don't really enjoy them to be honest but husband and teen do. I have a toddler and baby too so I enjoy the reduced labour!

Girlking · 11/02/2022 09:55

Never . The whole idea of of takeaway food delivered to your door lukewarm and greasy is so not my thing and sounds like it costs a lot of money too.🤢

FourChimneys · 11/02/2022 09:55

Once a year on holiday maybe. I prefer not to eat salty, greasy processed food.

I quite often buy nice fruit or bread when I'm out though, not sure if that's the same.

MusicByTheLake · 11/02/2022 09:55

My partner and kids have them most Friday nights, either Pizza, Chinese or McDonalds. I’d never eat anything from McDonalds, but have a takeaway vegan pizza occasionally. As others have said, takeaway food is often underwhelming. My friend owns a lovely restaurant and if she’s visiting, will bring us food, that’s always lovely and I’d happily eat that more often. They do takeaway but it’s too far away to order from.
We eat out a couple of times a month which I prefer, not a chicken nugget or pizza in sight. 😂

Traumdeuter · 11/02/2022 09:56

Since having a baby it’s been a couple of times a week, because although we both enjoy good food and cooking, we are both lazy and knackered. However it costs far too much, we’re both putting on weight and need to kick it into touch. Once every few weeks would be more realistic and affordable.

EmpressSuiko · 11/02/2022 09:57

One every 3/4 months maybe, sometimes less than that

FireMeetGasoline · 11/02/2022 09:57

Once a week. I found an Indian takeaway with an amazing vegan menu in my local area, so I have to make sure I sample everything from that menu 😂. Usually you need to ring up and ask questions about ingredients, which really puts me off even thinking about ordering, so this is great for me.

pawpaws2022 · 11/02/2022 09:57

Every two weeks usually. A burger and sweet potato fries from my fave burger place! They often send me a free milkshake or chicken strips with it

AngelinaFibres · 11/02/2022 09:57

@MrsSkylerWhite

Once a month if it coincides with adult children being here. If just the two of us, not at all.
We are similar. Live in a small village so no take aways and 12 mile round trip to get one. Not worth it. Very much enjoy having a take away when we stay with either of our sons. Probably every 6 weeks or so. Very much a lovely treat.
DriveMeCrazy1974 · 11/02/2022 09:57

Usually one a month - however, if we go on a weekend hotel break, then we'll order something both nights because it's a nice treat!

It sounds like you've never had a good takeaway. You can also collect - hence the name takeaway.
Laiste · 11/02/2022 09:58

One a week. About £9 at the chippy for the pair of us. It's our little luxury on a Sat.

If we're a bit skint we don't. We'll get a couple of good fella's pizzas from tesco instead and cook them ourselves.

We never do anything else! No meals out, no cinema ...

Takeitonthechin · 11/02/2022 09:58

Maybe once a month due to being in late and can't be bothered to cook

Ariela · 11/02/2022 09:58

We view takeaways as a treat, not the norm. So our first of the year was last Friday. I'd say on average once every 6-8 weeks.
