How many takeaways?!

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

1 every 3 weeks nowadays. Times are tougher than they were during lockdown.

Sunnyday321 · 12/02/2022 22:51

Realise this is extreme , lived in this house 12 years , and had a takeaway ( my understanding being gone out , ordered food , bought it back home to eat ) all of once ! 😂
We tend to go out and eat out , even then not very often in the evening but mainly during lunchtimes, maybe a couple of times in the month.

yikesanotherbooboo · 12/02/2022 22:57

About once every four to six weeks.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/02/2022 23:10

Once every couple of months. It's expensive and either a hassle to order and pick up or there's the uncertainty of when exactly it will be delivered. It seems easier to cook something.

RealBecca · 12/02/2022 23:27

Couple of times a year and New Years Eve.
Always with others, usually offered as a thank you for a favour. Thanks for helping us, we'll get pizza in.

Just dont think it's that nice.

We go to a care or restaurant probably every couple of months for birthdays or catch ups.

RealBecca · 12/02/2022 23:28

It always feels like more faff to choose and order and wait or collect than to just make something or use freezer food.

Larryyourwaiter · 12/02/2022 23:35

Maybe 4-6 weeks. I’m not really a fan.
DH is from a big city and the choice there is amazing and it’s not all crap. Where we live it’s pizza, chips, Chinese etc etc….yuk

Fayekrista · 12/02/2022 23:39

Once or twice a month (usually pay day & another day I can't be arsed)
Eat out lunch maybe once a month with friends/mum... usually pub or cafe.
Though every week mum will pop round for 'brunch' & brings some fresh croissants & I make coffee.... I mean lidl bakery not anywhere fancy lol

CelestiaNoctis · 12/02/2022 23:53

Maybe twice a year if that. "We have food at home" as all mums love to say 🤣🤣🤣

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/02/2022 23:59

Once a month, but we have a supermarket equivalent (M&S dine in, or their Chinese box type thing) every weekend.

Dinosaurwoman · 13/02/2022 00:39

Never had a takeaway at my house, but have at others houses. we either eat out in a restaurant which I prefer, because no washing up and it gets you out of the house. or get a supermarket ready meal, which are much cheaper and just as convenient where I live.

dee1969 · 13/02/2022 00:50

About once a month.

Mamanyt · 13/02/2022 01:02

Not more than 3-4 times a year, but it's a budget thing. Left to my own devices, with plenty of funds, I'd probably do 3 times a week.

BarbaraofSeville · 13/02/2022 08:29

@ShallWeTalkAboutBruno

And no food ‘makes you fat’. Eating an excess of food makes you fat. You could have 5 takeaways a week and be a healthy weight, as long as your overall calorie intake is within your limits.
Exactly. Even if a takeaway has a quite large calorie count of 1500 to 2000 calories they usually contain enough food for two decent meals so you'd not need a lot more food that day, eg a light breakfast or some fruit.

Or you could have something like sushi, noodle soup, chicken tikka or other marinated meat and salad, mezze bowl and it's not unhealthy or calorific.

Takeaways only make you gain weight if you look at the whole large pizza, fish and chips or curry and sides as one meal for one person and eat all of it plus other meals regularly.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 13/02/2022 08:31

Less than once a month
I'm in peri menopause and I put on 5lbs if I even walk past McDonald's these days!

Franticbutterfly · 13/02/2022 09:17

1 a month.

JulesJules · 13/02/2022 10:42

Just for birthdays, so that's four times a year, plus other special occasions like GCSE/A level results, when D1 comes home from university etc. Definitely less than once a month.

THEDEACON · 13/02/2022 10:46

Once sometimes twice a month

Leontine · 13/02/2022 11:20

3-4 a month.

hopeishere · 13/02/2022 11:28

Once a week on a Friday. I hate cooking so it gives me a break and sets the weekend up.

Shell4429 · 13/02/2022 12:48

Only on birthdays.

StargazerAli · 13/02/2022 14:03

Approx. 1 every 6 weeks or so.

threatmatrix · 13/02/2022 19:43

We are really bad 3/5 times a week and eat out as well. It’s got to stop.

Margerine78 · 14/02/2022 10:51

About 4-5 times a month in lockdown, then I got fat, so now about 4-5 a year as a treat (or desperation when I've no food in).

LindaEllen · 14/02/2022 11:11

We used to have a lot .. like several a week .. it was an awful habit to be in.

Now we're trying (!) to lose weight and get healthy, so we've cut it done to one every couple of weeks, for a real treat.
