How many takeaways?!

Southtrainer · 11/02/2022 09:11

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

@FourChimneys, a takeaway can be freshly cooked Greek, Chinese, Indian, Sri lankan, sauce coated chicken etc food. It doesn't have to be greasy or salty.

If we could afford it, we'd probably have two a week, but we are surrounded by a good mix of cuisines and a chippy that does lovely fish.

PrettyBluebells · 11/02/2022 10:00

Used to be about once a month but the teenagers expected one every Friday now, not sure how we fell into it but it's now "takeaway night". It'll stop once they all leave, lol

AllOfUsAreDead · 11/02/2022 10:01

Considering the takeaways around us are crap and have gone downhill rapidly, none now. Its a shame when you can't be arsed cooking, there's no other option.

SockFluffInTheBath · 11/02/2022 10:01

@irregularegular

Every two or three weeks maybe? On Fridays when we don't have anything else planned we will often have a family film night and takeaway.
Same
MintyGreenDream · 11/02/2022 10:01

One a week usually Indian

evilharpy · 11/02/2022 10:01

Not often - a Chinese maybe once a month, sometimes less.

Where we live the choices are Indian, Chinese, pizza or kebabs. We're not fans of takeaway pizza or kebabs and daughter isn't a fan of Indian. If we had more choice we'd probably get takeaways more often.

lolololloo · 11/02/2022 10:02

It used to be twice a week (sometimes 3/4 times including lunch Blush). Not always particularly unhealthy takeaways but we both work very long hours in the city. Kids have eaten most days before we get home. Now it's still at least once a week but we have bought a slow cooker and also get hello fresh which has helped. However, some days there just isn't the time and it's much easier to order dinner when I'm 10 mins from home.

Ponoka7 · 11/02/2022 10:02

But as we can't afford it, we have about one every six weeks.

Undecicive · 11/02/2022 10:03

We eat out once a week and sometimes have a take-away 1-2x a month on top of that.

Woahthehorsey · 11/02/2022 10:03

Too many. Probably one a week, sometimes 2. We need to cut back.

clarkkentsglasses · 11/02/2022 10:04

@sunshineandrain82

A ridiculous amount. At its worse we eat out/takeaways 2 times a day

Right now we probably do takeaway 1-2 times a week.

But on top of that my oh brings McDonald's home at 10pm after his club 2 times a week as well.

Glad it's not just me.

I am just as bad!

Dogmum40 · 11/02/2022 10:04

Rarely as we live rurally and if we fancy a takeaway it’s a 40 minute drive to the nearest town! We have a little cafe in our hamlet that caters for walkers so I occasionally might pop in there for a bacon cob whilst out walking our dog! It would be so handy to have some kind of takeaway on our doorstep but I suppose it’s good for our waistline and pocket 😆

Dumbitdown · 11/02/2022 10:04

When I lived in the city, once a month max, and now I live in the country, not once in the last year. I did get a craving for a takeaway recently but decided not to because I had food in the fridge. Budget's a little tight these days...

HisHX · 11/02/2022 10:06

Once a month maximum, probably more like 4x a year. Not a big fan, generally don’t think they’re worth the calories let alone the cost and I never feel good afterwards.

ChocolateDigestivesMmmm · 11/02/2022 10:07

One every 2 weeks but with the rising prices of everything we have to tighten out belts so will probably limit it to 1 a month.
I'm curious how many the OP has, she hasn't been back?

Salamander91 · 11/02/2022 10:07

It used to be once or twice a week. I can't eat dairy and gluten anymore so it's not worth getting takeaways anymore lol probably once a month at most.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 11/02/2022 10:07

None, they make me break out in spots.

themerrywifeofwindsor · 11/02/2022 10:08

Rarely, I'd say less than once a month.

We meal plan at the weekend for the week ahead and shop accordingly which really helps when you've been at work all day and can't be bothered to think of what to cook. We've done it for years and I can count on one hand the number of times we've decided to sack off the meal plan and get takeaway instead.

We're both trying to lose weight too so can't afford it calorie-wise!

ScatteredMama82 · 11/02/2022 10:08

Once a month tops.

kleew1 · 11/02/2022 10:08

I normally eat out more than I order a take away. Live centrally in a big city with lots on offer but I am always regretful afterward as it is never that nice!

Eat out once a week/fortnight and take aways maybe once every 2/3 months if that.

fromdownwest · 11/02/2022 10:08

Once every 3 months or so I would say.

Genuine question, people who have 2 a day pay per month on that?

Wbeezer · 11/02/2022 10:09

Never!
We do live rurally though, might indulge occasionally if there were decent places nearby.
Tbh, ive got good at cooking curries, chinese and pizzas out of necessity and mine are usually better!

OldTinHat · 11/02/2022 10:09

I would have one a week if I could! But can't afford one a year...when I win the lottery however...!

MsAgnesDiPesto · 11/02/2022 10:10

We live in a small country town so we can’t get food delivered here - meaning options are very limited. We have a not very good Chinese takeaway and a good fish and chip shop. Maybe a couple of times a year, if we are both back too late to cook, we will pick up fish and chips.

We eat out on average once a month - usually at pubs which cook from scratch.
