How many takeaways?!

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

OP posts:

One a month, if that. We might eat out once or twice a month. Habits changed at lockdown time for the latter, and we haven’t readjusted.

Carriecakes80 · 12/02/2022 17:26

With our four kids, and with being pregnant, I would love it once a week lol, but we do it every 6 weeks roughly. Its got to stay a treat because otherwise I put weight on so damned fast its not funny lol. Luckily when my husband finishes work he loves to cook from scratch to unwind, otherwise takeaways might have to be a lot more often! lol

CloR86 · 12/02/2022 17:33

Maybe once every 6 weeks or so

notacooldad · 12/02/2022 17:36

I've not had a takeaway since the week the first lockdown was announced in 2022 but this thread has inspired me to have one tonight!

I am having a 'hungry day' so will probably order too much.

LaProfesora · 12/02/2022 17:38

Way too often. I'm a full time teacher and a single parent to two boys. I'm too exhausted to cook.

lindyloo57 · 12/02/2022 17:39

None

FlorrieLindley · 12/02/2022 17:40

It's been about three years since we had a takeaway.

Middleagedspreadisreal · 12/02/2022 17:42

Never. They're too unhealthy.

Sloughsabigplace · 12/02/2022 17:44

@Middleagedspreadisreal

Never. They're too unhealthy.
What, every single take away you can get is unhealthy. How does that work then Confused
Thisisnotreallymyname · 12/02/2022 17:45

2 per week.
Piri Fino once a week.
Fish and chips on a Friday.
I cook all the other days ( unless we go out for Sunday lunch of course 😃)

SmoggieC · 12/02/2022 17:47

Least one a week. Lifes short and enjoy different food I wouldn't cook myself. Also means myself as a veggie and hubamf not are easily both covered

UsernameInTheTown · 12/02/2022 17:57

2 or 3 times a year, but my financial priorities seem to be different to many people's.

JonSnowIsALoser · 12/02/2022 18:00

None. They are overpriced and always arrive lukewarm. If I want a break from cooking I get a Tesco pizza and stick it in the oven. Does the trick beautifully.

Philandbill · 12/02/2022 18:01

Every six to eight weeks, sometimes less. We have them for birthdays and end of term.

YukoandHiro · 12/02/2022 18:06

We also got into the 1-2 times a week habit in lockdown OP. I'm really trying to break it. We'll be moving soon to a place where we'll be paying a high mortgage so if that goes through that will put an end to it.

Angelil · 12/02/2022 18:07

Literally never…very occasionally when at my parents’ house but that’s their choice/they pay. So a handful of times a year.

pinkpirlie · 12/02/2022 18:09

Too many - probably 40% meals are takeaway/eaten out.

Gigia · 12/02/2022 18:10

Once a year maybe, always find them disappointing

Lizardlegs · 12/02/2022 18:13

I worked at Just Eat headquarters for a while the data showed there were a lot of people doing 1 or 2 takeaways per day. So whatever you think is a high amount - there are definitely people who have more!

I get the feeling that the food apps have freed up around 2-5% of the population from ever cooking again 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nidan2Sandan · 12/02/2022 18:16

Usually 2-3 a month. We've had them quite a lot this month as we had a bereavement recently so have been spending every free minute doing a house clearance and shattered.

But we know we need to cut back as costs are going up.

1forAll74 · 12/02/2022 18:20

Never have any takeaways at all. I come from the old days, when we might have had fish and chips from the local chippy,on a Friday night. One of the family would go and get all the fish and chips, and bring it home, all wrapped in newspaper, !!

ReuT3 · 12/02/2022 18:29

Prebab we were once a month and we tried to keep it that so we could save up. After bab less often. I’m gagging for a Chinese or something bit there’s so many reasons for him to say no when i ask i just wait until he give me something.

LikeABreathRipplingBy · 12/02/2022 18:30

Covid has really changed our eating habits as we now buy food from a local butcher, which we've found is much better quality than supermarket meat. I go and buy for the week: having a meal plan means we eat out/have takeaway much less than we used to. Plus I've developed some food intolerances which makes food like pizza a thing of the past. 😪 We eat out less because it can be a real struggle to find food I can eat on the menu, and have often found restaurants will lie about ingredients so I end up really ill.
So to all of those who can still enjoy eating out/takeaways, enjoy them while you can because you never know when it might end. 🍕🍕🍕

Harmonypuss · 12/02/2022 18:32

Can't remember the last time I had a takeaway, it's got to be at least 2 or 3 years ago.

Snaketime · 12/02/2022 18:33

Maybe once a month, mostly because it is a luxury we can't afford.
