How many takeaways?!

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

We try to stick to 2 take away a month but currently we are awaiting our 3rd of the month!

TimBoothseyes · 12/02/2022 18:35

Our nearest takeaway is a 20 minute drive away and they don't deliver. I think the last one we had was last July when we were coming back from visiting a friend and popped in for a Chinese on the way home.

heather2908 · 12/02/2022 18:36

We go against the average. We’re probably 2-3 times a week.

Celiamary · 12/02/2022 18:37

hardly ever, bur do have good quality Ready Meals twice a month if we have not had time to cook or it has been a hard day.
Last weekend DH cooked & froze 4 tubs (8 helpings) of Bolognese sauce for ourselves. A fish dish next.

notagainnotagain · 12/02/2022 18:43

A couple of times a year

Fluffmum · 12/02/2022 18:45

1 a month

Lovemusic33 · 12/02/2022 18:46

Rarely, we live in a rural area, no Uber eats etc.., the one place that used to deliver has recently had a bad hygiene score so we no longer order from them. We occasionally get a McDonald’s or Burger King whilst out or fish and chips if we visit the coast. Probably works out as once a month at the most.

DanceItOut · 12/02/2022 18:47

Normally around once a month. Sometimes twice if it’s been a really busy week for me work wise. But it’s not like a weekly thing or a several times a week thing. Might even end up being a once a year thing if inflation continues 😂

willweevergetthere · 12/02/2022 18:47

It varies.
Some times once a week, some times once a month.
Sometimes in the holidays we'll eat out and grab something to have at home as well.

I tend to cook from scratch most of the week, the odd 'freezer' meal here and there depending on after school activities etc.

me109f · 12/02/2022 18:51

Once it was about one a week. A curry on Friday.
Now, 30 years later it is about once every 2 months. Indian or chinese. My kids keep sneakily ordering pizzas every week. They are idiots.

melonhead · 12/02/2022 18:53

Probably twice a week, always once at least.

Beachbreak2411 · 12/02/2022 18:53

Once a month we’ll either get dominoes or go out for a meal. Bit 🙄 at the PP who said sometimes twice a day!!

Ahardyfool · 12/02/2022 18:54

Once every couple of months…because we can’t afford it and I meal budget to the halfpence! God do we love it when we do treat ourselves though! Mainly because Indian takeaway that I haven’t cooked tastes nicer because I haven’t cooked it. Am reheating a homemade curry as we speak.

DemBonesDemBones · 12/02/2022 18:56

Maybe 2 a year Grin

riotlady · 12/02/2022 18:59

1-2 a week. DH would probably order a McDonald’s every bloody day if I let him!

Mandyjack · 12/02/2022 19:00

Probably on average no more than once a month as I see it as a treat. I can't really afford to do it every week and tbh it wouldn't be a great if I did get it that often. I don't like eating too much unhealthy food either

Mandyjack · 12/02/2022 19:03

@heather2908

We go against the average. We’re probably 2-3 times a week.
I don't know how people afford it, unless they are on good pay, especially if you have kids. Food is so expensive and getting dearer. With the rising costs of fuel and energy I think a lot of people will be adjusting their spending habits
Boombastic22 · 12/02/2022 19:10

1 a month max and we could easily afford more. I think it’s unnecessarily self indulgent and unhealthy.

larkstar · 12/02/2022 19:13

@WalkingOnSonshine @ShallWeTalkAboutBruno
The dough is made in the breadmaker - meat is marinades day before or curry is made a day or two in advance - I made a pizza last night and had topping defrosted from the freezer I made ages ago but I put sausages and potatoes to bake in the over (pre-done a bit in the microwave) for tonight's salad - sausages are for ratatouille I'm make i slow cooker tomorrow - ATM with electric costs so high I try and think about what else i can cook so I also used the over last night to bake a cake while it was still hot - I've been like this for years - just think ahead - I prefer to not cook every night or atleast minimise what I have to do so I cook a lot of big quantities for meals I can reheat - soups, stews, curries, risottos where I can squeeze more than one meal out of one lot of cooking - I'm not being clever - ultimately I'm just lazy and don't want to cook every night if I can avoid it.

drpet49 · 12/02/2022 19:18

Once or twice a year

Toanewstart23 · 12/02/2022 19:18

2 a year

yoyo1234 · 12/02/2022 19:22

1-2 per week. Normally eat out may be once per week (sometimes more Wink).

HappyDays40 · 12/02/2022 19:22

Once every 3 weeks is.

MRS54321 · 12/02/2022 19:33

At the weekend on a Friday/Saturday OR Sunday and about 3 weekends a month
My neighbour Uber eat’d every meal for the whole of lockdown. I know, because they would always ring my buzzer by mistake ! Or we would heat the door going and say to each other “ 8pn- that’ll be his dinner ,then!” Hahaha

lemondrop21 · 12/02/2022 19:33

Once a week
