AIBU to feel overwhelmed by non-binary, cancel culture, and woke society?

I've got to the stage where I feel quite apprehensive about the future. It just feels like there will be no 'men' or 'women' or 'boys' and 'girls' and everyone will need to conform to various gender identities and have to remember all the different ways people identify so as not to accidently offend anyone. I'm supportive of transgender people and understand people changing from male to female or vice versa but now there's all this non-binary stuff it's getting confusing.

All these things going on in this 'woke society' and if you aren't seen as wanting to conform with all this new stuff then the 'cancel culture' comes at you.

I just feel like I would be happy if there wasn't so much pressure placed on people to get pronouns correct if for millions of years we've used he/him and she/her and now we need to say they/them when we were taught in school they/them was plural.

I don't have kids yet but I do wonder if I did what the world would be like for them growing up.

AIBU for wanting to just continue with two genders?

If trans women are women, why isn’t Rachel Dolezal black?

Why aren’t grown men who identify as children, children?

Agree FordSiesta

I am confused with the number of letters now LGBTQP+

An alphabet 🤔

@Noisyneighneigh

There was a person on Twitter Nig Heke who compiled lots of footage of "women" wanking off in female toilets some where children's voices can be heard. Stop sticking up for perverted literal wankers and learn about autogynephelia.
I saw a couple of these. They were really very disturbing. Men dressed in “women’s sexy underwear” filming themselves openly wanking in swimming pool changing rooms (the communal type) and women’s public toilets. These spaces were empty but in the case of the pool, you could hear distant voices and see the usual paraphernalia you’d usually see - clothes on benches, including children’s clothes. Perhaps part of the “thrill” for these sick individuals was that women and children could walk in at any time.

I wish I had never seen these clips as they were sickening but now I know that this is a “thing”, I am even more wary of men having the potential to enter women’s private spaces.

Learning about AGP has been enough for me. For many of the most vocal this is a kink, nothing to do with wanting to be a woman

They do want to be women, it's part of the kink.

@FrancescaContini I thought about sending the videos to unpeaked and on the fence family members but I was scared they'd fall out with me.

Not a good idea Grin Very very grim. I saw them on here, actually, a few months ago. Partly wish I had never seen them but certainly strengthened my feelings.

Notjustanymum · 09/02/2022 15:21

Well, I was just introduced to someone with a name that’s for either male or female. They were dressed in a tight dress with cleavage showing (I’m not judging - it’s a statement of fact), full feminine makeup, pretty shoes Etc. Only for them to aggressively chime in with “and my pronouns are they/them: I identify as male”.
With this amount of batshittery going on, I’m not surprised you feel overwhelmed.
It’s almost as if it’s an affectation that’s taken on by people who just want to be controversial, like punk rockers in the 1970’s. I’m sure that in time we will see less of it - until the next “edgy” phase comes along!

I used to just think it might be simpler to refer to myself as female. But that seems to cause upset, because this apparently is antagonistic.

Several Transwomen, including India Willoughby have claimed the word female.

What has happened with Adele this standing up and stating that she is proud to be a woman to be female says it all.

from a tweet this morning which I can't attach for some reason:

2022 India Willoughby is celebrated for saying “I am a woman” but Adele is vilified.
Do you see it now?

Indeed.

India Willoughby believes they have a cervix.

EeeICouldRipATissue · 09/02/2022 15:41

but Adele is vilified.
Do you see it now?
Who has vilified Adele for saying that though?
I genuinely can't see where anyone has, anywhere apart from the likes of the D Mail trying to make out that people are outraged Confused
Where are they?!
Source please?
As it sounds an awful lot like '' you're not even allowed to say Christmas anymore! ''
Er, yes you are.

@EeeICouldRipATissue You don't follow social media such as Twitter? Adele has been trending all day because of that comment, and the MRAs, sorry - TRAs have been calling her a terf. It's even reached respectable newspapers, not just the Fail. I attach a tweet of one whose tweet went viral, and a few responses to him.

Keep up. I saw a fully feminine presenting NB person on tictok the other day saying, "fuck you, I don't owe you androgyny, just respect my pronouns". I've also seen fully feminist presenting females identifying as transmen.

Also don't forget that not giving a transperson whatever medical interventions they demand may cause them to take their own life but it's not a mental health condition.

They claim it's transphobic to say gender dysphoria (lots of fuck you'd in those videos too) should be a prerequisite diagnosis for accessing trans healthcare but never explain why medical intervention is necessary in the absence of a GD diagnosis. The healthcare being demanded is nearly always surgery and hormones and rarely therapy.

And you're a transphobe if you point out the mass of contradictions.

Migrainesbythedozen · 09/02/2022 15:56

I'll try again with the images larger, they were too small before. I'm really not good at printing screen and editing unfortunately.

I also don’t understand why, if you’re not defined by your genitalia and biology, you need treatment to sort out your genitalia and biology

Scianel · 09/02/2022 15:58

And no, I don't think transwomen are taking our space, they are women too

Not just women but full on female:

and there we have it, womanhood is a parody.

It could be quite funny in a way, in the 'Little Britain' sense if the implications weren't so serious for youngsters who are being convinced they need to chop of bits of their bodies and/ or take life long hormones to prop up these men with fetishes, or if the most vulnerable women in society weren't faced with males in the prison estate and in rape crisis centres.

So those who are saying this is just a fad and it will pass need to realise that the implications are far reaching and whilst it might not affect you directly because you don't need to be in those safe spaces it does really affect and harm other women.

Funny how they identify with the feminine stereotypes about taking scantily clad mirror selfies but not the ones about cleaning their fucking bedrooms, isn't it? Or even just moving all the shit out of the frame.

I'm no neat freak (ask my husband) but I don't know any women who would take a selfie showing they live in absolute squalor and then post it online.

EeeICouldRipATissue · 09/02/2022 16:11

Here we go with the women do the cleaning up shit
I find people moaning and complaining about being a woman means all they tidy up and do all the shit and oh how crap being a woman is! A lot more offensive than someone taking photos of themselves

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 09/02/2022 16:12

FOJN, I am desperately hoping that was a typo and you meant “feminine presenting’. Otherwise, I may pull my own head off.

EeeICouldRipATissue · 09/02/2022 16:12

Women do take selfies of themselves
So what if someone who is trans likes to as well?

Scianel · 09/02/2022 16:15

So what if someone who is trans likes to as well?

Tell me honestly, would you read this person as a woman? To the point where you would be happy for them to be in female only spaces with you, maybe a communal changing room or a hospital ward? Providing intimate care to your elderly mother or disabled daughter?

lifeturnsonadime · 09/02/2022 16:15

Eel I'm really interested to know if you think that person who took the selfies is female, which is what they claim to be?

If you do think they are female would you explain your reasoning please?
