Have rearranged Dp's now that I've moved in, words have been said, so what's the verdict?

L-R Spoons, Forks, Butter knives, Sharp knives, tea spoons in the wee bit at the front

EmmaGrundyForPM · 05/02/2022 08:26

Knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons are in the horizontal slot at the front.

Singlebutmarried · 05/02/2022 08:28

I’ve got a Joseph Joseph 8 compartment holder

It goes

Teaspoon. Teaspoon.

Small knives. Big knives

Small forks. Big forks

Desert spoons. Bigger spoons

8 of each in each ‘trap’

User0458832 · 05/02/2022 08:30

Knives, forks, spoons teaspoons across the shorter top bit. I can add that this is because there are small pictures of the cutlery that is meant to go into the slot and I followed the pictures 😀

SheWoreYellow · 05/02/2022 08:34

@PrettyBluebells

The way they would be set in a table serving. L-R forks, knives, spoons
This.

You pick the knives and forks up in the correct hands for laying the table?

Keladrythesaviour · 05/02/2022 08:36

Forks, knives, big spoons, tea spoons. It's the only way. Any other way is heresy.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 05/02/2022 08:37

L-R Forks, knives, spoons - big stuff far right, teaspoons and kids cutlery at the bottom.
I don't understand the other way round, had this argument with my dad when he changed mine.
You eat with your fork in left hand and knife in right so why would you have cutlery drawer back to front???

MrsTimRiggins · 05/02/2022 08:38

Left to right, forks, knives, spoons. Teaspoons at the back, table spoons above them. Sharp knives in a long section to the right.

SomeOwlsCoo · 05/02/2022 08:39

I can't imagine using 2 hands to carry some cutlery to the table! I take cutlery in one hand and the water jug or salt and pepper Mills in the other. Plus not everyone in my house eats with their cutlery the same way so I lay each place based on how that person eats.

itwasntaparty · 05/02/2022 08:46

Knives, forks, spoons, steak knives, teaspoons at the top - not the bottom
!!

Random shit in the bib bottom section, chopsticks, corn cob holders, bottle openers etc

stuntbubbles · 05/02/2022 08:53

We’ve got a big long bit on the side, full depth of the drawer, which is wooden spoons. Then at the back, L to R: forks, spoons, knives. Because we’re right-handed and use knives the most – they’re closest to our hands when making toast this way.

At the front of the drawer there are three smaller bits which go, L to R: teaspoons, toddler cutlery, measuring spoons.

There’s a separate drawer for whisks, tin openers, zesters and other whatnots

CottonSock · 05/02/2022 08:55

No no. Its definitely knives, forks, spoons

stuntbubbles · 05/02/2022 08:58

I lay each place based on how that person eats.

What? Confused
Thelazygoat · 05/02/2022 09:00

I have a crowded drawer that fits two cutlery holders.
Tray 1
Cats forks (small dessert forks used for cat food), butter knives, steak knives bottom section cookie cutters (not that I bake)
Tray 2 knives, forks and steak forks, spoons then soup spoons bottom section holds larger teaspoons. (Normal use teaspoons live near the kettle)

Then random bits like rolling pin, food thermometer (when did we get that) scissors, tin opener and scissors are below the trays. I have just discovered a box of metal straws in there too. Well technically they were underneath tray 2.

banivani · 05/02/2022 09:01

For the record, spoons and forks should be reversed. You want to grab a spoon more often so they should be on the edge of the drawer. But my bloody husband doesn’t agree so we compromise.

Big spoon on right obv serving spoon, those types of things.

alltheseasons · 05/02/2022 09:02

Knives, forks, dessert spoons, soup spoons, then teaspoons in the little slot at the front.

Briony123 · 05/02/2022 09:03

Why would you rearrange somebody's cutlery drawer? I'd be sending you off again.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/02/2022 09:03

Cats forks (small dessert forks used for cat food)

I wish you hadn't explained, I like the image of a cat using a fork or else balefully looking at it and cursing not having opposable thumbs.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 05/02/2022 09:07

Teas spoon, spoons, forks, knife, tin opener etc and across the front of the drawer my knives.

stuntbubbles · 05/02/2022 09:12

It’s a shared cutlery drawer now they’ve moved in – they’re not just forking anymore.
IcyPenguin101 · 05/02/2022 09:12

Looks like I’m in the minority with tablespoons, forks and knives then teaspoons in the smaller section. I have changed the order (to my deemed correct order) at previous boyfriend’s places Grin

pigsDOfly · 05/02/2022 09:21

From L-R: soup spoons, fork, knives, dishing out spoons. Then tea spoon in the little bit at the front.

Agree with pp, forks are used in the left hand, knives in the right hand so it makes sense to do it that way, it's logical.

If someone came into my house and changed my cutlery drawer words would most definitely be had, serious words.

If he'd moved into your home then you could have it whichever weird way you want but you've moved into his home and you need to leave his cutlery drawer the way he has it.

Are you going to start messing with his underwear drawer and sock drawer next?

MoreThanJustANumber · 05/02/2022 09:30

Here's mine.
