OK I’m showing my age but I have just seen some videos of this ‘musician/singer’, I’m completely stunned. How on earth are our kids supposed to have standards when this crap is being peddled as music.

In the olden days Madonna was a rebel, I feel so sorry for our girls as they see these ‘role models’ daily! Dreadful!

She doesn't make music for you. If she was popular on mumsnet then she'd be making a mistake. When will white women learn to leave successful prominent dark skinned black women alone. She is not the first to do this; for some reason and I can't figure it out - seems she, Cardi B, Beyonce are always dragged on this site but Madonna was an angel. I wonder, I can't put my finger on it what separates those women. I just don't know what it might be.

Don’t you think that these women are making money out of exploiting patriarchal white culture’s version of the sexy black woman? If they are so ground breaking, why are other black women subject to misogyny and racism? Could it be that colluding in a popular culture industry that sexualises and objectifies women and blank women especially makes a few special women lots of money, but harms everyone else? Madonna was just as bad and just as much a shill for the capitalist music industry - she’s no feminist either.

I love her. She’s had a rough few years with losing both her mother and grandmother, getting shot for walking away from her BF etc but she’s just graduated, has a successful career and gives back to her community. Her resilience is impressive. If you don’t like her don’t listen to her.

To be fair, I think she is a role model and one I wouldn't have an issue with my DC following when they're old enough to be aware of such things. Educated, strong work ethic, socially conscious, principled, and believes in giving back.

She completed her education before launching her career, she does a lot of charitable work and makes a lot of donations particularly to charities that benefit/support women and/or those in poverty, and her personal mission is to open and fund assisted living facilities in her home town/state (her training was in health administration). Yes she dances in teeny tiny clothes and her lyrics are sexual but so what? Male rappers have been singing about their dicks for decade now, it's about time women felt free to rap about their WAPs if they want to. Her music is clearly labelled as explicit so if you don't want your kids listening to it, well, don't let them.

This is true but it's still a bit blegh. I love 90/00s rap, but a lot of the new artists just cheapen it with music like this. It's not even the sexual nature, just the lack of substance.

Plus yes, she gives to charity because she's a millionaire. Most people would if they had that kind of money to spare. Lots of ordinary people give to charity and volunteer but because they didn't donate millions nobody is that interested.

But I do get the sexual empowerment side. Sorry to say, there's still lots of sexism, so I like the idea of men getting used to it.

Not my taste though, like most others these days.

If I wear a tight pair of shorts am I not a feminist? Am I only supposed to dance in a way that is unsexy to be a true feminist? I don't understand what people want.

There are only a handful of these women and a whole of those kinds of men. Stopping the existence of those stinky attitudes is certainly not on the women.

In America, and I think generally black america (idk if specific to Houston particularly), "stallion" can refer to a tall, thick, sexually attractive woman (generally 5'7 or over)
