David Beckham reveals wife Victoria has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years

Apparently Victoria Beckham will only ever eat grilled fish and steamed veg. Every day for 25 years. She says she won’t eat food cooked in oil, butter or sauces, red meat, or dairy.

AIBU to think life is too short to live without butter!

@Quincythequince

Hangover using the tone of this thread, which is apparently ok, where have snide comments been made about OPs size?

Please highlight them!

The OP has highlighted her size and BMI (which has been calculated inaccurately using her own weight/height figures by the way).

I haven’t called her fat, or thin, or commented on various aspects of her diet!

I used the NHS BMI calculator (result attached using the height and weight I’ve given here).

Well, butter is my life Grin

Oh wow I misread the title and was intrigued to see what she's eaten for the same meal for 25 DAYS but years omg that's a lot of plates of fish n veg instead of all the other things one can eat.

Poor cow. Clearly an ED or a very disordered relationship with food and her body. Feeing sorry for her daughter trying to figure it all out with presumably her dad mocking and kajoling his wife to be more of a foodie.

It's sad but as someone who finds themselves 3 stone overweight it does give a huge clue as to where I'm going wrong.

Wonder if fish n veg sales will soar this week! I'm definitely off to stock up. Maybe not for next 25 years but perhaps the next month.

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 22:10

@Quincythequince Go for it- start a thread about me and my diet and my weight Smile You’ve found out enough information to (despite apparently “not giving a crap” about it). People often start threads on here about what they eat in a day, what’s for dinner, critique my menu etc, food is a popular topic.
I’ll be interested to read the replies you get Grin

I do love salt though 😋 In fact I just had some salty popcorn for a snack this evening while posting on this thread.

@Quincythequince

You’re happy with your body and clearly happy with your diet. Good for you.

So why so much scrutiny of someone else’s!
It’s poor form tbh!

(BMI 23 and size 14…you sure?!)

👆🏻(Not very nice that last comment was it!)

I'm size 14 and BMI 21.4 so why would this not be correct.
FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 22:11

@Quincythequince

The scientific literature says 18.5 - 23.5 for females!

Go look it up!

The NHS website is often wrong!

The NHS is wrong now Confused 🤷‍♀️ Can’t win I guess, and I’m overweight accordingly to the “scientific literature”. Oh well Grin

I really don't understand the posts criticising David Beckham for 'revealing' what Victoria eats. Yes, the Daily Mail headline has used 'reveals' but, as someone who would never classify myself as a sleb expert, I know that Victoria Beckham has said for years that this is what she eats. The headline was just clickbait to fool readers into thinking that the article included something new.

She is clearly quite happy to discuss her diet. She uses social media to help promote her brand. She posts pictures of what she eats on social media. I even know she starts the day with cider vinegar and lemon or something like that.

At one level, we do need to discuss the impact of celebrity diets on how women, men and children perceive food. At another, it really is quite harmless to debate whether we as individuals want to eat something with a dollop of butter or not.

When David Beckham was playing football he would have followed a fairly restricted diet himself. Now he has more choice. I didn't think he was criticising Victoria, he was just commenting that - like many couples - they don't eat exactly the same.

I don't know why FlexibleWorkingDenied needed to answer questions about what she eats but in my opinion she started a harmless thread and has managed to achieve what seems to be a good compromise in what she eats.

DearlyBeloathed · 01/02/2022 22:13

@halfbakedkate

What a spiteful prick of a husband she has. He knows everything he says about their relationship and life is scrutinised. I can't believe there isn't more outrage at the fact he actually said what he did. He has effectively humiliated her. He's a loathsome, nasty and conceited twat. She deserves better.
Do you really think this news is new? She's spoken about her diet plenty of times before.

A PP did say something about how he’d probably only said it to spark an AIBU thread (so not exactly publicity but interest and attention) Grin As they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. I do think that VB, although thin, must have an incredibly thick skin. She couldn’t have survived in the industry this long without one.

Haven’t read this whole thread, but it’s not a normal pattern of eating and a terrible example to her children.

BringYourOwnBoris · 01/02/2022 22:14

I've met her a couple of times when her DC were younger. She was lovely, normal, cheerful!! and very down to earth. At first I didn't even know who she was, just realised when she said her boys names.
I don't care what she eats or what her public persona is, she seemed like a polite and humble person to me.
Oh and her DC were very well behaved.

SunshineArtist · 01/02/2022 22:14

Just mentioned this thread to my partner. He mentioned that until he moved out of his parents house in his early 20s, dinner was meat, potatoes and veg every single day. And his parents still eat that now every day for dinner. They’re 80 and are horrified at the thought of pasta or rice. My grandparents were the same thinking about it, always meat, potatoes and veg.

User0458832 · 01/02/2022 22:15

It's the sort of food that people on diets eat.

I don’t want to, that’s the point!
It would be unkind and unnecessary, and who really cares!

Maybe you should think about that!

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 22:17

@Quincythequince You obviously care. You’ve said I’m overweight and each too much salt. You’re probably right, but never mind eh Wink

So flippant about your own diet, yet so scrutinous about others!

Funny that!

User0458832 · 01/02/2022 22:19

Nothing unusual about eating the same every day though, I have a load of Lindt Lindor every day, humans are often creatures of habit

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 22:20

The NHS track record on recognising, diagnosing, treating and managing people’s weight is diabolical!

Catastrophejane · 01/02/2022 22:22

I think it’s actually quite refreshing for celebrities to admit that being very thin is hard work and involves eating very little.

I get so annoyed at the stick thin stars saying they ‘eat like a horse’ when they clearly don’t!

Marcipex · 01/02/2022 22:22

I could do that if I wasn’t shopping and cooking for anyone else.
It’s having it around all the time that is hard.

She has a lovely figure.

He’s a bit of a nitwit, isn’t he.

That's why she looks like a baked bean on a tooth pick.
What a nasty person you are.
