David Beckham reveals wife Victoria has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 19:22

Apparently Victoria Beckham will only ever eat grilled fish and steamed veg. Every day for 25 years. She says she won’t eat food cooked in oil, butter or sauces, red meat, or dairy.

AIBU to think life is too short to live without butter!

I am 5”2 and 7 and a half stone. I had a McDonald’s for dinner - had a double cheese burger and medium fries.

BoredtoTiers · 01/02/2022 21:42

@Blossomtoes Ignoring the fact she was a rich woman herself, I'd argue that a big reason that he remains bankable at his age is because of the Posh & Becks brand, regardless of whether her fashion business is seen as a success in its own right.

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 21:43

Hangover you are either wilfully misunderstanding me, or you’re not that bright.

I’m not explaining myself again!

It’s never ok, and actually pretty small minded to discuss someone else’s body/diet/MH etc publicly.

Even if you don’t mind it being done to yourself!

And people wonder why VB is so controlled!

Have you read the absolutely shitty comments that a thread of this nature has elicited?!

Have a word with yourself!

MrsJBaptiste · 01/02/2022 21:43

Didn't Liz Hurley once say that she often goes to bed at night feeling hungry? I guess her body is her business, and she's made a lot of money just from looking like she does. But it doesn't sound like much of a life to me

I go to bed most night feeling hungry as I only eat between 12-8pm and am starving by midnight! But as other people have said, I like being slim so it's worth it (although unfortunately I do not resemble Liz Hurley!)

LethargeMarg · 01/02/2022 21:44

@GrandDuchessRomanov

It's unhealthy and abnormal and I am quite surprised by so many on here celebrating or admiring it.
I agree. From what I've seen on her Instagram she really doesn't eat much else - fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch if I remember right and her calorie intake must be really low plus she runs 5k every morning. If anyone in my family was eating this little while exercising that much I'd really worry about them Db in that article sounds like he hates the fact he can't get her to eat more food and enjoy going out to restaurants Im a healthy eater and slim but I would be so hungry if I only ate what she did I'm really shocked by people normalising it
madisonbridges · 01/02/2022 21:44

@AngryApple

I’d eat that too if I got to shag David Beckham!
No need to limit yourself. I don't think he's been too fussy about what women eat. 😉
Hoplesscynic · 01/02/2022 21:46

I don't believe she only eats grilled fish and veggies. He probably just wanted to spark a YABU on Mumsnet Grin

Nightlystroll · 01/02/2022 21:48

People’s bodies and sizes are nobody else’s business!
And yet here you are discussing it.

maddy68 · 01/02/2022 21:50

For a long time that's all I ate too. It's not as restrictive as it appears it's just low carb

It wasn't for nf either (I lost so much weight )

GrandDuchessRomanov · 01/02/2022 21:50

I bet it makes doing her online shop at Iceland loads easier though.

SantaClawsServiette · 01/02/2022 21:50

Given that the OP says the question is, "Life is too short to live without butter" I tend to agree.

VB, if that makes her happy and healthy, that's great. Maybe she finds it's the best way to keep her relationship to food stable. If she is not happy and healthy, that is too bad.

I don't think it would suit most people.

SofiaSoFar · 01/02/2022 21:51

@CounsellorTroi

If she's 7.5st then she's a normal weight for her height (5'4"?)

Wrong.

BMI of 17.5 and underweight.

Wrong.

48kg
1.625m

BMI = 18.2

By many measures 18 is normal, especially for a small frame, and 18.5 is normal across the board according to NHS.

Quincy, I suggest you take some of your splendid advice and stop making snide comments about the OP's size. It's not a great look for you, especially as you claim to hate that kind of behaviour...
schoolsoutforever · 01/02/2022 21:53

I think she would have some kind of eating disorder. It’s all about control (and fearing lack of control). I don’t think eating the same thing night after night, never sauces etc is healthy (of mind or body). I speak as a anorexic of old. I think that’s her. Sadly.

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 21:54

@Nightlystroll

People’s bodies and sizes are nobody else’s business! And yet here you are discussing it.
This thread is painful, and people are being deliberately obtuse!

And LOL to ‘what has she ever done that’s been successful’ 😆

The Spice Girls are the most successful girl group to grace the planet!

I don’t like their music personally, but for some to suggest that she (or by association, the Spice Girls generally) didn’t do anything, is ludicrous!

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 21:54

@Hoplesscynic

I do think they both, particularly her, have a dry sense of humour Grin She’s come out with some quick witted one liners over the years. And there are occasions where she’s shown she doesn’t take herself too seriously. I think she’s more comfortable with herself now than she was in the Spice Girls era when she famously never smiled because she didn’t like the way it made her face/nose look.

Obviously a discussion on someone’s diet is going to inevitably link to their weight/body but it was the limited, rigid, samey diet and the longevity with which she’s stuck to it that interested me and sparked me to start the thread. I didn’t mention her weight in my OP, and I feel that any comments I’ve made about weight have been more about the bigger picture connotations of the unobtainable thinness of celebs in society (as some PPs have mentioned “nothing tastes as good as thin feels”, going to bed hungry etc). I was a teenager in the 90s/00s and there was a lot of damaging media about. It’s difficult to separate about people like VB as being part of the cause or a product of the environment.

Ballcactus · 01/02/2022 21:56

It’s very disordered eating

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 21:58

Hangover using the tone of this thread, which is apparently ok, where have snide comments been made about OPs size?

Please highlight them!

The OP has highlighted her size and BMI (which has been calculated inaccurately using her own weight/height figures by the way).

I haven’t called her fat, or thin, or commented on various aspects of her diet!

KittensTeaAndCake · 01/02/2022 21:58

@doitwithlove

If thats her happy place on food - who are we to judge her. If he isn't happy he needs to grow a pair and rectify the situation

I doubt she's happy judging by her face.Grin

I couldn't give a damn what she eats but I hope she doesn't let her DD see she has an obvious problem with food.

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 21:59

@HangoverSquare Thank you for sticking up for me with regard to the self-confessed attempt at goading me regarding my own diet and weight Smile

I just looked at the article, and it wasn’t the best decision. What he “cooked” looked like vomit on a plate shaped like a fish. I have covid, but I could smell the stink through my phone 😷

Maybe she doesn’t like to experiment because he’s a shit cook and he puts her off.🤷‍♀️

Blossomtoes · 01/02/2022 22:00

You can argue that as much as you like, you won’t convince me. It’s the only reason she hasn’t drifted into obscurity. Her fashion brand has never made a profit or even broken even. It’s not how I measure success.

FurbleSocks · 01/02/2022 22:01

People may have idolised her figure but what a sacrifice she had to make to achieve it. I hope it was a choice because she isn't fussed about food rather than the sacrifice it looks like.

TheKeatingFive · 01/02/2022 22:02

Her life her choice 🤷‍♀️

halfbakedkate · 01/02/2022 22:02

What a spiteful prick of a husband she has. He knows everything he says about their relationship and life is scrutinised. I can't believe there isn't more outrage at the fact he actually said what he did. He has effectively humiliated her. He's a loathsome, nasty and conceited twat. She deserves better.
