David Beckham reveals wife Victoria has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 19:22

Apparently Victoria Beckham will only ever eat grilled fish and steamed veg. Every day for 25 years. She says she won’t eat food cooked in oil, butter or sauces, red meat, or dairy.

AIBU to think life is too short to live without butter!

I wish I had her willpower.“

Why? Such a limited diet just isn’t good for anyone. All for healthy eating, try to myself, but that’s too restricted.

RampantIvy · 01/02/2022 21:18

@Bogiesaremyonlyfriend

I'd quiet happily eat the same meal every day. Food sucks and I'm not at all bothered by it. Wish I could not eat, save a ton of time.
How sad. Is there nothing you actually enjoy the taste of?

Do you have a difficult relationship with food?

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 01/02/2022 21:20

@Calist

She has an eating disorder. This isn’t a choice or a matter of willpower. She’s not in control. She can only feel in control by eating a very narrow diet of safe foods.
Oh wow, hi, Victoria's psychiatrist.
EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 01/02/2022 21:21

I did read years ago that she likes wholegrain toast with salt

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 21:21

Yes flexible I did.

And I have made it clear, twice now, why I was doing that!

Here it is below, again and there was one other reference to it earlier in the thread.

And I made it clear that It was pointedly asked on here because you feel it’s ok to do this, so let’s see how you like it

People’s bodies and sizes are nobody else’s business! What part of that are you struggling with? Has it occurred to you, that scrutiny like yours is why people become obsessive?

Have you enjoyed having your body/diet/size scrutinised ??

Semis obvious, really. That’s just not normal/healthy.

burnthur5t · 01/02/2022 21:23

This explains why she hasn't smiled for 25 years

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/02/2022 21:24

Personally, I couldn't live without butter (my blood group is Lurpak), but each to their own.

As others have said, to some people, food is just fuel and they aren't bothered. They can happily eat what they enjoy without getting bored with it.

Is it the same type of fish and the same varieties of vegetables, though. She could be ringing the changes with salmon, hake, octopus - whatever.

Motherdare · 01/02/2022 21:24

I think VB has painted herself into a corner with her weight. She is the most famously skinny woman in the country. Ridiculous though that is. She is as famous for being thin as anything else. If she were to gain even half a stone, people would notice and comment and her weight gain would make headlines. That must be a frightening place to have put yourself.

CounsellorTroi · 01/02/2022 21:24

@Quincythequince

Someone with an eating disorder, but who appears to drink a lot of wine.

Really?

Not that unusual. I’ve known people who drank too much but exercised loads.
camelfinger · 01/02/2022 21:24

I wonder whether she will eat normally when she retires.

foxgoosefinch · 01/02/2022 21:25

@Sammysquiz

It doesn't look very enjoyable, to not even have cake on her birthday

How do you know she doesn’t eat cake on her birthday?

He didn’t say she solely eats fish & veg for every meal of every day and doesn’t ever eat anything else Hmm

Grin I’ve read a lot of this stuff about VB’s diet before - no one needs to be outraged by DB saying it, she’s talked about it plenty in interviews. And she’s said before that she doesn’t eat the birthday fruit “cakes” bar a tiny slice on a significant birthday! Grin

At my thinnest I was never even underweight, and I was eating a lot less than 1,000 calories a day and still not able to get below about 7st 11 (I’m 5ft 2 and naturally love food so it was a fucking effort I tell you!) But then I didn’t have millions in the bank as an incentive. I think it’s pretty much a dead cert she has an ED, but then none of us live in that very unusual situation she does. I can’t help but feel a bit sorry for her - all that money and not much of the pleasure of enjoying really good food that being rich ought to bring! When you think of how rich men eat and enjoy the finer things in life to the full…it’s a huge shame for her really.

I don’t mind at all Smile I’ve been open about my diet and weight and size (seeing as you asked). Sorry I didn’t realise you’d only asked to try and goad me and get some kind of reaction, I thought you were actually asking. But don’t worry, it isn’t some kind of “gotcha” moment- see how you like it. I don’t mind sharing what I eat and I don’t think VB minds either, especially as she was actually there when DB spoke about it and she’s spoken about her own eating in the last too.

No, I'm not. You're pretending you're making a point about how awful, it is for a woman's body to be scrutinised on a public forum. What you're actually doing is enthusiastically participating in that thing you pretend to abhor. You're being a bit of a cow, because you want hurt the OP's feelings.

Well done.

This.
SunshineArtist · 01/02/2022 21:26

Whether she likes cake or not wasn’t the question- I was answering PP who asked “how do you know she doesn’t have cake on her birthday?”

When you first mentioned it, it in reply to her sticking to her diet whatever day it was. It was clearly in a ‘isn’t she odd’ way. Maybe she just doesn’t like cake. I don’t really like most cakes. One of my children doesn’t like any cakes so they blow their candles out and their dad and sibling eat the cake. But even if for VB, if it’s a health thing, she don’t die without a piece of cake.

This. Not for one moment saying the woman is an alcoholic, I don’t know her! Seriously doubt it, her skin is clear, her eyes are bright.

Most alcoholics are very thin, though.

silverbubbles · 01/02/2022 21:28

fish and steamed veg is a great meal and there are many different options.
I doubt its only cod and broccolli.

No wonder she looks great

CounsellorTroi · 01/02/2022 21:32

If she's 7.5st then she's a normal weight for her height (5'4"?)

Wrong.

BMI of 17.5 and underweight.

SunshineArtist · 01/02/2022 21:33

I wonder whether she will eat normally when she retires.

What’s ‘normally’ though? Do you mean like you? Do you mean like the rest of Britain, who often eat too much and unhealthily, do you mean people who eat fast food multiple times a week, what’s ‘normal’? Normal to me is no meat, fish or dairy, no vegan chocolate or cake because I don’t like them, no McDonalds because I don’t like their food and won’t support them. But I still eat a fairly varied diet....am I normal? 🙄

Comefromaway · 01/02/2022 21:33

She has talked about her time at Laine Theatre Arts and the comments that were made to her about her weight. It’s notorious, I personally know a few people who have been screwed up by that and similar colleges. My own daughter was in class at a different school where teachers berated students for eating normally.

I feel very sorry for her, if this diet helps her to not be I’ll then so what if it’s supposedly boring.

Walkaround · 01/02/2022 21:34

Willpower isn’t healthy if governed by a phobia of losing control. Extreme rigidity of this sort is tiresome and stressful for everyone to be around. It’s a shame if the only meal her family have ever genuinely shared all together is steamed fish and vegetables. Surely she’s not that extreme?

Blossomtoes · 01/02/2022 21:34

@Tiramysu

Just another stick to beat a successful woman with. I agree
What’s she successful at? Her business has never even broken even and she’s turned her back on the Spice Girls. Apart from marrying a rich man, what has she done?
SofiaSoFar · 01/02/2022 21:41
@SofiaSoFar 7 1/2 stone is underweight for someone of 5'4"
Ok, give or take a few grams her BMI is 18.5 which is normal.

Conversely, 10st 5lbs is overweight at 5'4" but we're not supposed to mention that on MN and no doubt I'll be piled on for pointing it out.
