Obviously he's running scared from his own side as well and Labour and the excellent contribution from Ian Blackford - no doubt Dennis Skinner would have done the same if still an MP.

However, there was no need for Johnson to stoop to the level of more lies - this time trying smear Kier Starmer with untrue allegations about Jimmy Savile.

Hopefully some posters wont keep going on about it now.

jgw1 · 03/02/2022 14:16

@StoneofDestiny

Johnson admits Starmer not personally involved in Savile prosecution decisions - three days after he implied otherwise

At last

Is the main part of the Johnson government's levelling up agenda to insult everyone?
Rosscameasdoody · 03/02/2022 14:25

I think they’ve already done that by giving a whole new meaning to the words Tory ‘party’ !!

Indeed - I imagine all the Johnson fanpersons and Tory shills will go very quiet now.

They are, aren’t they?

Peregrina · 03/02/2022 14:48

Yet again another half apology:

I want to be very clear about this because a lot of people have got very hot under the collar, and I understand why.

Let’s be absolutely clear, I’m talking not about the leader of the opposition’s personal record when he was DPP and I totally understand that he had nothing to do personally with those decisions.

I was making a point about his responsibility for the organisation as a whole. And I think people can see that. And I really do want to clarify that because it is important.

But I am glad that he acknowledges that someone in charge is responsible. This applies to him too - the man who is now under criminal investigation for his part in breaking the Covid regulations.

Will he now go the the House and correct the record? Don't hold your breathe. On to the next slur....

SueSaid · 03/02/2022 14:52

'I was making a point about his responsibility for the organisation as a whole. And I think people can see that.'

Exactly. The buck stops with the boss as we've heard ad nauseam of late.

Blossomtoes · 03/02/2022 14:53

By the way, whoever reported the deleted post on p18, you really didn’t need to - I’m a tough old bird.

Do you think Big Baby enjoys apologising? He certainly seems to do half arsed ones often enough.

Except for Johnson - the buck doesn't even slow down near him. He never accepts any responsibility for anything and prefers to tell lies instead.

@JaniieJones Will you now join me in condemning the 56year old Prime Minister for having a birthday party in June 2020 whilst denying that opportunity to millions of children?

Oh please. Fanpersons and shills I mean seriously. It's all a bit childish, no?

I have no idea if I was directing it at you - I have posted a lot on here - it directing at someone I tend to quote their post or @ them - not sure which of my posts you are referring to since you haven't bothered to reference them.

I agree it's incredibly childish to be cheerleading for such morally bankrupt leaders.

Of course. It was directed at me, why wouldn’t I comment on it? There’s way too much reporting for not much reason on these threads.

WendyTreetops · 03/02/2022 15:41

@Alexandra2001
Why don't you copy and paste my comments from the very start describing Johnson's comments as reprehensible and pathetic? Oh yes, because you're dishonestly misrepresenting things.

Can't really blame her.

countrygirl99 · 03/02/2022 16:12

So that's 3 women have resigned and no men. Interesting.

This is pretty serious - she's worked for Boris for a longtime.

In a letter to Johnson seen by the Spectator magazine, which broke the story, she wrote: "I believe it was wrong for you to imply this week that Keir Starmer was personally responsible for allowing Jimmy Savile to escape justice.

"There was no fair or reasonable basis for that assertion. This was not the usual cut and thrust of politics; it was an inappropriate and partisan reference to a horrendous case of child sex abuse.

"You tried to clarify your position today but, despite my urging, you did not apologise for the misleading impression you gave."

Mumira Muzar has resigned. This leaves vacant the position of Head of Policy at Downing St. Interested parties should apply.

longwayoff · 03/02/2022 16:19

Thank you @daimbarsatemydogsbone, some posters on this thread are over-invested and MN is happy to delete at their request. Odd.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 03/02/2022 16:20

Very clear statement from Munira Mirza of the implied assertion/insinuation at the heart of Johnson's smear.
Still want to maintain that it was "true", Wendy?
