I want an affordable hard back A3 notebook with lined paper that is thick enough to write on both sides. It needs a pen holder. Not too thick or thin and not spiral bound. Not ugly.
I've been looking for months and can I find one?!

What things are you searching for that really shouldn't be this hard to find?

When shopping online for clothes I wish that retailers would show all the dimensions (bust/waist hips & height) of the women modelling the garments. Plus the size/length they are actually wearing in the photo.

I'm sure this would give customers a much better idea of sizing and so reduce the number of returns.

@BettyBag

A non-corner desk that has enough room for a notepad (that you write on), keyboard, monitor and mouse so you can type then write comfortably.

The only one I could fine was IKEA.

At the start of lockdown I got a second-hand glass desk from Gumtree. It's massive and has enough room for keyboard, two monitors, mouse and a couple of notebooks and random rubbish.

@HairyShins

Oh yes, workmen. Not even fussy at this point. Just want someone to turn up and do a half decent job.

Huge list of jobs. Money in the bank. We've already given up on ever having a couple of things done.

Sometimes I wonder if we're on a secret builder blacklist for not having good enough biscuits.

Have you looked at www.taskrabbit.co.uk/ we’ve found them very good, and once you find a good workman, ask if they do jobs privately (saves you and them paying commission). We’ve now got a man who happily takes my list of annoying little jobs, completes it, and hoovers after him, for £30 an hour.

But biscuits may be the thing! I caught him taking a photo of his cup of tea (in an Emma Bridgewater mug) and plate of biscuits to send his wife. He said it was lovely to be treated so nicely. He’s gold.

blobby10 · 01/02/2022 16:24

@DahliaMacNamara same here! I ended up ordering from somewhere on Amazon - they had a nice 'Warm Mink' colour too!

blobby10 · 01/02/2022 16:26

My current bugbear is the lack of women's suits around which don't have a ridiculously short jacket, peplum waists, stupidly pencil skirts and 'slim fit 3/4 trousers'! Why can't I get a decent length jacket with matching skirt, dress and trousers and not break the bank?! M& S used to be perfect, closely followed by Next with upmarket Austin Reed in the sales. Now there's no one on the high street Sad.

Winter mittens (not scratch mitts) for a baby that don't come with a bunch of other clothing. I just want the mittens! Been looking for ages but currently still resorting to putting socks on poor DD's hands when it's really cold.

CoalCraft · 01/02/2022 16:27

Also checked shirts that aren't overly long. I want one that ends at like hip level but they all go below the bum (and have weird shoulder poofy bits). Have looked in the men's section too but they are also longer than I'd like and the colours are all ugly.

MaggieMcGill · 01/02/2022 16:49

@SniffMyFeet

A petticoat that comes to above your knees They are all a standard length now
M&S has a good selection of different lengths.
Puffalicious · 01/02/2022 17:09

@Graphista

I think £25-35 for a white shirt is very, very reasonable indeed!

Really?! I don't!

You didn't specify a price. There are 3 white shirts on Uniqlo I can see at £25. For a shirt that fits, that you've been needing and will work with lots of other things £25 is very good value in my opinion. It was a suggestion. That's all.

H&M, JoJo, joules, Toby tiger all have some at various prices

Magic mittens!

Bikinis and swimsuits most of the year except spring.

It seems like shops release their swimwear in spring, and expect everyone to buy it then (3 or 4 months before your holiday). Then, in July or August when I'm actually going to the beach or going on holiday, I dig out my swimwear, realise it's too small, then try and buy some more, but most of it has already sold out so you're left with just the crappy stuff no one else wanted, and in very limited sizes. It's especially bad if you're trying to buy a bikini and when you eventually find a top your size, the matching bottoms have sold out!

Trying to buy swimwear in winter is even worse! There are like 2 options, it's as though shops don't realise indoor pools exist.

BigRedDuck · 01/02/2022 19:12

@Minfilia

Low rise jeans.

High waisted jeans make me look 5 months pregnant, whereas low rise are always oddly flattering.

SAME.

I've been finding loads of really nice, not too stretchy denim low cut jeans in tk maxx lately. My mum always goes to h&m for low rise as well.

tokyo1 · 01/02/2022 19:19

White top/blouse that is actually not see through.

Athenajm80 · 01/02/2022 19:43

@TheHateIsNotGood

Hydrogen Peroxide from the chemist, sold in glass bottles just like Witch Hazel is - great for cleaning cuts/wounds, diluted further for ears and painful teeth (mouthwash).

Can't get it now as apparently it's a bomb-making ingredient. Bloody terrorists, fucking things up and causing mayhem in bathroom cabinets across the UK.

Is that really why? I have been looking for some for ages. The woman in the chemist didn't have a clue what I was talking about when I last asked. I'd bought it in there before so I know they used to have it. I ended up buying it on Amazon in the end, a big more expensive but it's worth it
LadyMaid · 01/02/2022 19:45

@Pythian

An A-line maxi skirt - not pleated, not shiny or sparkly, not elasticated waist, not midi/ends two inches above your ankles, no side-splits. I've looked - it just doesn't exist.
I have bought a few really nice ones from selectfashion.
mumlikeaboss · 01/02/2022 19:56

Black PE joggers that will fit my super skinny son... Why are jogging bottoms all revoltingly huge and saggy?!?! They look absolutely ridiculous on him Angry

Tiredmum100 · 01/02/2022 20:02

A nut cracker, I still have my Christmas nuts sitting in the kitchen looking sad.

mumlikeaboss · 01/02/2022 20:18

@ThreeRingCircus

Regarding toastie makers.....get yourself a panini press, I often use it to make cheese toasties and they've great, plus it's less sloping than a george foreman so less change of cheese spilling out.

I'm looking for a decent pillow that helps my aching neck and shoulders. I've tried all sorts.....tempur, shaped orthopaedic ones, thinner microfibre ones..... nothing has helped.

Panini presses are the best for toasted sandwiches 👍🏻

Oh and DITTO the pillow problem 🤬🤬 it's so expensive to keep buying and trying different kinds of pillow!!!

If it's teen/ older primary child Nike and Under Armour do 'slim' ones. Bit pricier but work. If it needs to be all black they both do small logos which can be coloured in with permanent marker.

My DS9 needs plain black for PE days, he presently has George at Asda ones - slim fit- I bought 4 pairs last year when I found them, including a bigger size which he's in now. You could look there.

toddybell · 01/02/2022 23:46

@Dandelionflower

A toaster that can toast a whole slice of normal sized bread.
Try the John Lewis own brand toaster- game changer. I've binned my duashit toaster- complete waste of space.
toddybell · 01/02/2022 23:49

@Whatsyourfavouritescarymovie

A can opener that lasts longer than a single use.
Magican- I bought mine in 2003 and it's still going strong. It was £4.99 in Morrisons back in the day which to my student mind meant daylight robbery!
IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 02/02/2022 00:00

@mumlikeaboss H&M is your friend for skinny joggers

astorsback · 02/02/2022 01:44

@Puffalicious

Decent silky modal/no VPL knickers with a high waist and high leg Sainsbury's. Brilliant underwear, don't buy them anywhere else now.
Thats where i used to buy mine but all my local branches now only seem to stock size 8 or size 18 - nothing in between. I've been looking hopefully for a year. Same in Tesco.
BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 02/02/2022 02:01

I just want black smart trousers to wear to work. Preferably with pockets and not expensive.
